Game 1: A New Jerseyan's perspective

Still pretty high after tonight’s game. The arena is great, travel was pretty easy, crowd was pumped and we won. I went to the last game at the Meadowlands, the last game at The Rock, and now the 1st game at Barclays. The crowd tonight was awesome and I know you guys up in the rafters were responsible for most of that.

I wonder though how so many Brooklynites became attached to this team so quickly. I hope that devotion and passion is there every night, but know it will take time (and a lot of winning) before we become a truly great fanbase.

I wore a New Jersey Nets shirt and felt kind of awkward doing so. I am going to plunk down the cash for my Deron jersey, maybe even a Gerald Wallace one too, but I felt like I needed to show off my Jersey pride one last time.I grew up in NJ, but now live in NYC, so the commute makes no difference. Do I let go of the past and move forward with the new? Or do I keep holding onto the powder blue tied-dyes and wish we had something like this off Exit 16W.

It made me smile every time I saw someone tonight in a blue and red shirt or jersey. I kind of wish we had a signal, ala the Van Buren Boys, that we could flash at home games, for those of us who slept outside in the parking lot for Finals tickets and own Rex Walters jerseys.

I love the fact that we have thousands of new members in the Nets Nation. I’m gonna love Brooklyn for everything…I’m just not ready to give up my Jersey memories yet. I'd love to hear others thoughts on tonight as well. Sorry if a thread is made as I write this. As they would say on WFAN, first time, long time.
