The Nets pick up their fifth straight home victory and improve to 8-4 on the year.
The Nets head into Monday's matchup with the Knicks with a little momentum after winning their second straight game on Sunday, a 98-85 victory over the Blazers (who were playing without LaMarcus Aldridge) at Barclays Center.
The Nets got off to a quick start and led by nine early, but they cooled off after that and trailed by six early in the third quarter. A 14-4 run got them the lead back, but the game was tied again with 8 1/2 minutes to go in the fourth. Then a C.J. Watson three sparked a 9-0 run that put them in control for good.
The Nets shot just 42 percent, but outrebounded the Blazers 48-34. They also had a six-turnover advantage.
Joe Johnson led five Nets in double-figures with 21 points on 10-for-19 shooting, 17 coming in the first half. Deron Williams took over in the third quarter and finished with 15 points, 12 assists, three steals and four blocks. Kris Humphries (14 points and 10 rebounds) also had a double-double, and Reggie Evans added 14 boards of his own.
Said Damian Lillard (12, 6 and 7) about facing Williams. "He’s a bigger guard, handles the ball really well, uses his body really well and he’s the reason I got into foul trouble. He is a different style. He tried to throw his weight around a lot and he’s bigger and stronger than most of the point guards I’ve played against."
