Although Ben Uzoh and Carleton Scott got a lot of attention when the the Nets stocked the Springfield Armor, it was Net training camp invite James Mays who dominated the affiliate's overtime win over the Canton Charge. Mays, a 6'9" center who's played mostly overseas since leaving Clemson, scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the 94-91 opening night win in Ohio.
Helping Mays was Willie Reed, a 6'9" power forward. Reed finished with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting. He grabbed only three boards but blocked five shots. The 22-year-old was cut by the Kings near the end of training camp. Uzoh also had a double-double, 16 points and 10 boards, but shot 6-for-20. Scott who like Mays was in Nets training camp finished with 13 points, including 3-for-8 from downtown.
The Armor outscored the Charge 9-6 in the extra time and never trailed. D-League action can be seen on the league's new YouTube channel.
