Lets start by saying the effort was much improved. The Nets were locked in from the tip to the final buzzer. We challenged shots, had active hands, and were very physical. On offense I thought the ball movement was good. We took a lot of jumpers and didn't penetrate enough. Turnovers hurt us early but we got under control as the game progressed. I felt like Deron should have been more aggressive in the fourth quarter.
The game was tight down the stretch. We somehow got a 6 point lead and seemed to be gaining control of the game. Why would we then start fouling Howard at the 5 minute mark? I think we should have continued to play tough defense as the Lakers were struggling to score. Although Howard made 1 of 2 on those trips those makes hurt when you consider the time on the clock and the struggles both teams had scoring. I thought we would have learned from the Boston game.
This was a poorly officiated game. Hate to sound like a sore loser but there were several obvious fouls and a goal tend that did not go in our favor. Lopez was fouled twice on one possession and did not get the call. On a lob pass to Howard, KH deflected the pass which looked clean and KH was called for a foul. In addition, Howard clearly goal tended a floater by Deron which was also not called. Late in the fourth Kobe was out of control and was bailed out on a bogus call.
We didn't make good use of Marshon Brooks during this game. Marshon is instant offense but lacks defense. Once Kobe came out the game the Lakers did not have another guard who can exploit Marshon, however he can score on any guard on the LA bench.
We need to play Blantche and Lopez together in stretches. Once Lopez gets hot defenses start to crowd the paint and we end up settling for long jump shots or Hump gets a mid range shot that defenses welcome him to take. I think Blantche has a better offensive game that Hump and that will keep defenses honest and give Lopez more room to work.
Just the thoughts a Brooklyn fan. Now lets go get a win in Golden State.
