New York Knicks drive fans to Brooklyn Nets

Al Bello

When Mikhail Prokhorov took over the Nets in 2010, he said he'd turn "Knicks fans into Nets fans." Two and a half years later, he appears to be prophetic, and he's getting a some help from James Dolan and the Knicks.

It's unclear just how many NBA fans (mostly from Brooklyn) have switched allegiances, but Howard Beck found a few examples.

"A new era is upon us," Beck writes. "The Nets are a New York team now, after 35 years in New Jersey. Their arrival has spawned a new breed of fan: the Knicks-to-Nets defector. They are the disillusioned, the angry, the hopeful. And their numbers appear to be growing, based on social media and anecdotal accounts."
