The Nets have long embraced social media. Now, they are on eight networks --Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Google+, Socialcam and Youtube - and since the team's re-branding in April, their followers have grown. the Nets have grown their Twitter followers from 93,000 to 163,000 and their Facebook fans from 208,000 to 573,000.

The Nets' SocialCam account now has more than one million followers. The video-sharing service is where they post videos like highlights from training camp or nutrition tips from the Nets' strength and conditioning coach, Jeremy Bettle. Alyonka Larionov , their in-house host at Barclays Center, regularly posts interviews on SocialCam as well.

Jayne Bussman-Wise, the digital director for both the Nets and Barclays Center, says they want to use social media to "surprise and delight our fans whenever possible." Indeed, social media has been used in a number of team promotions.
