Brooks at "85 Per Cent" for Hawks

PrintDeron Williams was happy to see MarShon Brooks on the court Saturday but said he knew the rookie wasn't at full strength despite his solid play.
"I could tell he was a little – walking a little gingerly the last game, didn’t have all his explosiveness,'' Williams said at shootaround Monday. "So it’ll be good to get him back at full strength.''
Brooks admits that his teammate's assessment may be on the high side. He told reporters his ankle is "about 85 percent,'' adding, "I've played on worse before.'' Two of his teammates are out vs. the Hawks: Mehmet Okur and Damion James.

Morrow has been shooting a little better but Brooks plays hard on both ends of the floor.
Morrow is a better SG with Deron on the floor
If Ammo is knocking down shots, DWill can find him very easily. So they make for a good combo. When we have our dull second unit on the floor, I like that we have someone we can go to to create their own shot.

Swag's defense on LBJ was really good...
Caused two turnovers and was frustrating him. Remember that he scored 22 in the first and 29 for the entire games with Swag doing most of the second half defense.
He also made several nice passes and would have had at least 3 more assist if his teammates could hit open 8 foot shots.

I think this guys potential is so high
He has the ability to score at will and I seen flashes that he can become a very good passer for the SG position. If he adds muscle and progresses each year hell be a All-star type player. I know it’s way to early but he just seems so confident and determined that goes a long ways. IMO Vince Carter could have been a all time great but he was lazy and didnt seem as determined and that’s what held him back, MarShon has all the tools and WANTS to be great thats what gets me excited

new DWill concern?
It concerns me a little that DWill may have a little of the Marbury attitude. DWill was the only super-star caliber player to actually play overseas for what…a 5 million contract? Maybe Utah was more concerned about his attitude as a player more than whether he’d leave or not. Utah may have known he was going to take the money to stay but they just didn’t want to have a cancer on their team. C’mon man…Sam Cassel, having won a championship, got here and played like a leader way back when. Maybe we shouldn’t be so concerned about DWill leaving but maybe we should think about if we have a possible head case in the making.
I have thought the same thing
I am very down on him and I definitely thought that he was going to be better than what he has been. I know its still early but he seems to be too moody and mostly upset. I also know we should not read too much into body language but he is not projecting (at least on the outside) the best of the attitudes.

and so we currently have a leader who’s thrown his role players under the bus more than once and will only play 100% full effort when we get another star. Comforting. KG, Kidd, STat played with bad teams but played hard before they eventually ended up in a better situation.

I don't get where all this hate toward dwill is coming from
I understand he hasn’t been playing his best but he is clearly trying…in fact he looks like he is trying too hard.
He has talked about the team as a whole playing bad including himself.
In every game I’ve seen him talking to teammates and leading them, not throwing them under the bus.
I you guys have not noticed without the man on the floor everyone else looks worse than they already look, and yes, even Marshon has looked better with our star on the floor.
How can his effort be questioned when he attacks the basket the way he does. His ribs got killed and he sucked it up and continued to play. He will play better as time goes by, I promiss you this
Understand that we are losing. When we start winning, Deron will be the best PG in the league again.

DWill is staying for the money. Just a feeling. He’ll then force a trade after giving a Brooklyn a try if he has to. And this, to me, is why the Nets are D12’s #1 option, not cuz of the Brooklyn thing…just cuz of DWill and he already knows DWill is taking the money to stay, so D12 to the Nets is likely going to happen at the trade deadline too.
AND Dallas may be in the picture
but my thinking is they’re going after Westbrook. If not, they’ll spend money to build a similar team to the one they had that won the championship…a group of really good players, but not super stars.
DWill/D12 in Dallas is a possibility but I think people are misreading that situation just cuz of the money both players would have to give up to go there.

More so, Brooklyn is ahead of Dallas on dwights wishlist. I cant see Dwill leaving and teaming up with Dwight on a different team, when they could form a superteam on a team that one of them plays for.

But why would Deron leave if he will be with Dwight, get his extra money and play with HIS team.
Going to Dalla would make him a villain, and a traitor of he chooses dallas with dwight over Brooklyn with dwight
Nets seems like the best spot for both for a number of reasons

I think we should make a push for a SF.
Even if we do get Dwight at the deadline, it will be tough to make the playoffs. With a SF, it could make us tread water until atleast brook gets back. Trail blazers don’t need both Gerald Wallace and Batum, so one of them could be the answer.

My two cents on trading Marshon...
The ONLY way we include this guy in a trade for Dwight is if the Lakers are willing to trade Gasol and Bynum (a package we know the Magic want) and for some reason Otis demands Brooks in a trade to give us the advantage.
But if the Lakers arent willing to trade those guys and the Mavs have nothing to trade and theres no other team we know Dwight would sign with, then why bid against ourselves and include Marshon.
I dont care how good Dwight is, I dont want to give up “more” than we need to for a player that WANTS to come here and and who we can sign in the off season.
If we get Dwight while keeping brooks and a couple picks, that would be such a steal

Why do people think that Dwight (or deron) give a flying moiso what the team's record is
Prior to them teaming up? Obviously the record will be poor. I think any player in the league could deal with missing the playoffs ONCE if it meant being a perennial contender for the next 5-10 years

Bynum is the best available player for Orlando...
I would take Bynum straight up over Nets package unless…
1) By the deadline Brooks shows he will be a star and Brook is healthy
2) I am worried Bynum will also leave
3) Lakers back off if Dwight does not give a guarantee to resign

Bynum's per minute number have always been excellent...
He is now just staying on the floor for longer stretches.
Bynum plays defense and rebounds like a fiend. Both of which are not Lopez’s strong suit.
Lopez, Brooks and 4 #1 picks or Wallace is better than Bynum but maybe not for an 85-year old owner with a new arena.

Bynum is really good but those knee injuries really bring his value down
The man is 24 and has had multiple knee surgeries, this has probably reduced his career by a few years or is an injury away from retirement a la brandon roy. They would be taking a huge chance on him.
I think it’s all up to how Brook comes back from injury and if he is fine and producing.
If the lakers only offer bynum then a package of Brook, wallace or another significant player, and a pick is just as good or better than just bynum. They stay competitive and build for the future at the same time.

Or distortion of isolated quotes by ORL to use as leverage in trades.
