China Update: Josh Boone player of the week (again)
Josh Boone was player of the week again in China. Bleacher Report has told us that the Nets will lose tonight to Miami (91-108), so lets get on to the important stuff.
Boone's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Jan 7, 2012 (by Eurobasket News)
27-year old power forward Josh Boone (208-F/C-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for Zhejiang C. and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 21.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 22 rebounds, while his team edged out Xinjiang F.T. (#9, 10-8) in overtime 114-112. Zhejiang C. is placed at 4th position in Chinese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Zhejiang C. will need more victories to improve their 12-7 record. It's Boone's second year at Zhejiang C. and it's hard to imagine this team without him. University of Connecticut graduate has very impressive stats this year. Boone is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 12.8rpg) and averages solid 1.7bpg and 61.0% FGP.
Boone was playing against last week's player of the week, Gani Lawal. The stats are here. Boone had 25 points (10-15 fg, 5-10 ft), 22 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Lawal had 26 points (12-21 fg and a Boone-like 2-10 ft), and 10 rebounds.
SUMMARY, WITH MARCH SCENARIO
The Nets trade with Orlando and get Dwight Howard and the miserable contract of Hedo Turkoglu. The Nets give up some draft picks, Brook Lopez, Okur (expiring contract), Petro (only one more year), Farmar (only one more year), or something like that. Three centers are gone.
I'd sign both Josh Boone and Gani Lawal to minimum contracts. Boone's better than Petro and Lawal's better than Dennis Horner. Both Boone and Lawal will be in playing shape, will be very happy to be in the NBA, and will be ready for the playoffs, if the Dwight Howard-Deron Williams team can rack up wins in a favorable Nets schedule. There's not much risk.
Boone might also go to the LA Clippers, who have no depth behind Jordan and Griffin.
Or to the NY Knicks, who have no depth, either. Thanks for the Petro contract, Rod Thorn.

The Knicks have SOME depth
They DO have Woody Harrelson’s son, afterall.

No way Nets should have let him go...
hustle player with high energy, Varejao type.
He’s going back to the NBA, no doubt.
If Sean Wililams did, Boone can.
On a side note: Wasn’t Sean playing like Wilt Chamberlain in the chinese league? These stats are really meaningless.
for the right of watching tv broadcasted nets games...
If I were Boonie I would stay
he’s the freaking king of the league in a country that’s just discovering the sexual revolution. Plus: lots of Chinese food!

He's basically Shelden Williams
only with much worse FT shooting and much better speed. Considering how thin we are in the frontcourt, he’d be a useful guy. Petro is playing 15 mpg, after all.

Why do i keep seeing these Josh Boone in China updates?
No one cares about Josh Boone! lol
He’s playing in China for crying out loud. He’s trash, always has been. He was playing overseas before the lockout so it’s not like he’s only playing over there because he is stuck with the No NBA-out clause. Nobody wanted him before and nothing has changed in that regard.
Hopefully he stays in China where he is successful because if he tries to come back to the NBA he will be very dissapointed.
he's better than all but 2 of the nets bigs

So you think Josh Boone would be better to start at PF
Than Kris Humphries? You’re out of your mind lol
Before you say it, yes Boone is a PF. I’m sure he could play C but at his size 6’10 he is primarily a PF and played PF for all 4 years of his short NBA career.
I would definitely start Petro, Shelden, and Hump over him.
gosh that's clever
Harhar, I guess that’s what I meant, start him over one of our good players instead of over Petro.
If you think Petro is better than Boone, there’s nothing I can say to you.
