Power Rankings: Rising Above NYK

One loss can hurt you in the power rankings. Chris Sheridan posted his before the Nets' 21-point loss to the Raptors and had the Nets at #20. Anyone who posted after that game had them lower. But still everyone, starting with Sheridan, had the Nets ranked above their soon-to-be New York rivals, the Knicks.

As John Schuhmann wrote, "The Nets had turned the corner with a 4-2 stretch, and Deron Williams finally looked like the star point guard they traded for with a ridiculous performance in Philadelphia on Wednesday. But somehow, they were satisfied with a two-game winning streak."

Schuhmann and Marc Stein of ESPN have the Nets at #22; Kurt Helin of NBC Sports and Tom Ziller of SB Nation have them at #23.

Shawne
Petro
Farmar

for

S.Jax
Delifno/Ilyasova (both expirers)

Unfortunately, I think that means Morrow would have to be a goner by next off-season to afford Dwight.

I wouldn't.

If Dwight Howard can’t handle Billy King running the team, then i’m not sure I want him.

Because if Dwight is going to demand BK bring in players like Jackson, the Nets aren’t going to win anything anyway.

I dont read it that way at all

Dwight is never going to come out and diss a team and say he doesnt want to play for them

he wants to be loved by everyone, he’s very sensitive and has a massive ego

IMO, he’s going to say neutral stuff like on any team he left off his list

Boy do we value players differently.

All role players against a potential all star in Pez and Brooks. We also have pick with more value than either of those guys. Like their play but it depends Ob who their with.

All he says on the video

“How would you like to play with Derrick Rose in your career”

“Well, we will during the All-star game.”

Not really a head nod that he wants to play for the Bulls.

by Anthony Perez on Jan 30, 2012 3:59 PM EST up reply actions

Means nothing

All he said was.. if God wants me there….

It says nothing about him willing to stay there or them being added to the list.. he was answering a question by the CHICAGO Tribune. What do you expect him to say?

Meanwhile, 2 questions..
1. Why would Dwight want to go to Chicago now? What has changed about the team, the city or anything? Nothing.

2. In that article he says this…

“It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That’s my brother.’’
“It has nothing to do with Adidas,”

Do you know what IT is and why IT is in the present tense?

IT is why he doesn’t want to go to Chicago, why they weren’t on his list initially.. and still aren’t IMO.

by Jack Handy Jr on Jan 30, 2012 4:01 PM EST up reply actions

Dwight and Dwill > Carmelo and Amare

but it definitely shows that the “get 2 superstars” strategy isn’t what wins in the NBA unless you get the right other pieces. And I honestly thought (at the time) that the Knicks had made some good acquisitions in the off-season.

by panet on Jan 30, 2012 4:44 PM EST reply actions

Yup that's why I'm really hesitant to trade Brook and picks away

Dwight really wouldn’t be that better off (if any) here, if he comes here via trade.

by mvmt84 on Jan 30, 2012 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

Plus you really need the team to buy into DEFENSE

Your offense is pretty much covered with Superstars… The whole Celtics team bought into defense and won a title. Heat’s Big “2” are both good defensive players as well and they got very close to winning it all. NY can’t even spell defense and got swept in the first round, and might not even make PO this year.

by mvmt84 on Jan 30, 2012 4:52 PM EST up reply actions

It's really sad to watch Chandler

So many times he’s the only one gives a darn and you see him gradually getting more frustrated and gradually giving up on D. Plus, no PG to throw him a oop and get him going every now and then. It’s his own fault since he should have seen that coming in NY but even then, sad to see him trying alone.

Shouldn't have to dump Morrow t odump farmar petro

Esp get more than expiring back for Morrow and maybe Farmar. Farmar is decent has value, Petro and Farmar smal contract will expire next season use a second to dump Petro should be doable.

Especially if they think Dwight makes it to free agency and well need some more space.

But Morrow for an expiring? Thats weak.

Billy King has something cooking

It doesn’t make sense to shop Morrow and Farmar around the league for expiring contracts unless u have something already in the works. I believe there is alot more to this story….

I grabbed 19 rebounds in my first professional game, and somehow found a way to score 20 points. I felt real good about it. I felt that this was the beginning of something good.
