Power Rankings: Rising Above NYK
One loss can hurt you in the power rankings. Chris Sheridan posted his before the Nets' 21-point loss to the Raptors and had the Nets at #20. Anyone who posted after that game had them lower. But still everyone, starting with Sheridan, had the Nets ranked above their soon-to-be New York rivals, the Knicks.
As John Schuhmann wrote, "The Nets had turned the corner with a 4-2 stretch, and Deron Williams finally looked like the star point guard they traded for with a ridiculous performance in Philadelphia on Wednesday. But somehow, they were satisfied with a two-game winning streak."
Schuhmann and Marc Stein of ESPN have the Nets at #22; Kurt Helin of NBC Sports and Tom Ziller of SB Nation have them at #23.

- Power Rankings: Miami Heat bounce Bulls at No. 1 - Marc Stein - ESPN
- NBA Power Rankings: Top spot now Thunderstruck - Kurt Helin - NBC Sports

oh Knicks. How sad that a injury-depleted team with D-Leaguers starting has almost the same record as you + analysts(lol) actually place us above you.

I don't know if this has been mentioned today as I didn't read through the comments of the articles, but Bucher said on ESPN that Dwight also wants the Nets to get Stephen Jackson to play with him and D-Will in Brooklyn.
MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.
"I’m anxious to see if they make the same mistake twice." - Shaq talking about the Magic.
i believe it has been
but i would rather just take Dwight alone lol

I believe it, but would like the actual language first.
FYI, Stevie is owed $10 million next season.

If it doesn't hurt our cap, I'm down
Shawne
Petro
Farmar
for
S.Jax
Delifno/Ilyasova (both expirers)
Unfortunately, I think that means Morrow would have to be a goner by next off-season to afford Dwight.

I saw the Bucher thing again.
He and Jackson have “spoken numerous times” about playing together in NJ/Brooklyn.
MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.
"I’m anxious to see if they make the same mistake twice." - Shaq talking about the Magic.
Dwight also wants the Nets to get Stephen Jackson to play with him and D-Will in Brooklyn.
Dwight Howard: Great player. Horrible GM.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
I'll take S-Jax if it gets Dwight
MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.
"I’m anxious to see if they make the same mistake twice." - Shaq talking about the Magic.
I wouldn't.
If Dwight Howard can’t handle Billy King running the team, then i’m not sure I want him.
Because if Dwight is going to demand BK bring in players like Jackson, the Nets aren’t going to win anything anyway.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Once DH and D-Will sign on the dotted line Billy can do whatever he wants.
MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.
"I’m anxious to see if they make the same mistake twice." - Shaq talking about the Magic.
But you risk ticking Dwight off if you play him like that
Though what you say is basically true….
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
He'll only be hurting himself at that point.
MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.
"I’m anxious to see if they make the same mistake twice." - Shaq talking about the Magic.
How can the Nets afford Hump then?
Official Member of DO NOT TRADE MARSHON Society!
To be successful, apparently Avery's Defense System requires it to be manned by NBA All-Defensive Team.
I dont read it that way at all
Dwight is never going to come out and diss a team and say he doesnt want to play for them
he wants to be loved by everyone, he’s very sensitive and has a massive ego
IMO, he’s going to say neutral stuff like on any team he left off his list
they are the dark horse i always worried about
deng, noah, and gibson is better than anything the nets could offer and he would re-sign no question about it. i don’t think rose wants that though.
by William_H_HOLLA on Jan 30, 2012 3:47 PM EST up reply actions
Boy do we value players differently.
All role players against a potential all star in Pez and Brooks. We also have pick with more value than either of those guys. Like their play but it depends Ob who their with.

most gm's around the league have
a very different perception of brook lopez than some here.
that’s just the reality.
imagine something extremely witty here
nets fans overrate lopez like crazy. noah is seen as a more valuable C than lopez around the league.
by William_H_HOLLA on Jan 30, 2012 4:32 PM EST up reply actions
defense is half the game. i love brook as a low post scorer but the fact is he is slow, unathletic, and doesn't play D.
his help defense is below average. his post D as well. people just lay it up around him all the time. noah is a legit defensive presence and good rebounder who hustles.
by William_H_HOLLA on Jan 30, 2012 4:36 PM EST up reply actions
All he says on the video
“How would you like to play with Derrick Rose in your career”
“Well, we will during the All-star game.”
Not really a head nod that he wants to play for the Bulls.
by Anthony Perez on Jan 30, 2012 3:59 PM EST up reply actions
Means nothing
All he said was.. if God wants me there….
It says nothing about him willing to stay there or them being added to the list.. he was answering a question by the CHICAGO Tribune. What do you expect him to say?
Meanwhile, 2 questions..
1. Why would Dwight want to go to Chicago now? What has changed about the team, the city or anything? Nothing.
2. In that article he says this…
“It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That’s my brother.’’
“It has nothing to do with Adidas,”
Do you know what IT is and why IT is in the present tense?
IT is why he doesn’t want to go to Chicago, why they weren’t on his list initially.. and still aren’t IMO.
by Jack Handy Jr on Jan 30, 2012 4:01 PM EST up reply actions

They are just going to tape the toes together
It’s really just dealing with a little pain. It depends on how cautious they want to be with him.
by Rodney Buford on Jan 30, 2012 4:32 PM EST up reply actions
Cant really do much more damage to a fractured small pinky toe
especially when its really taped up and cushioned. the problem will be pain management and if marshon will be more tentative when cutting/driving
Nets > Knicks
Don't believe me? Check the stats
So tommorow
Will be the first time in a while where we have a SF playing at the SF position. I’d rather have Owens start of Shawne though.
-Justin L.
Dwight and Dwill > Carmelo and Amare
but it definitely shows that the “get 2 superstars” strategy isn’t what wins in the NBA unless you get the right other pieces. And I honestly thought (at the time) that the Knicks had made some good acquisitions in the off-season.
Yup that's why I'm really hesitant to trade Brook and picks away
Dwight really wouldn’t be that better off (if any) here, if he comes here via trade.
Plus you really need the team to buy into DEFENSE
Your offense is pretty much covered with Superstars… The whole Celtics team bought into defense and won a title. Heat’s Big “2” are both good defensive players as well and they got very close to winning it all. NY can’t even spell defense and got swept in the first round, and might not even make PO this year.
once d'antoni inevitably gets fired and woodson takes over
i expect them to get it together in time to snag a 6-8 seed
by William_H_HOLLA on Jan 30, 2012 4:54 PM EST up reply actions
It's really sad to watch Chandler
So many times he’s the only one gives a darn and you see him gradually getting more frustrated and gradually giving up on D. Plus, no PG to throw him a oop and get him going every now and then. It’s his own fault since he should have seen that coming in NY but even then, sad to see him trying alone.
its only the little toe
He will prob be day to day. If it were the big toe he would be out much longer

This was going to happen eventually
To get rid of Farmar and/or Petro, Morrow might have to included.
THE NBA
Where YOU DONT KNOW WHAT Happens
Dont see that happening farmar maybe
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
Shouldn't have to dump Morrow t odump farmar petro
Esp get more than expiring back for Morrow and maybe Farmar. Farmar is decent has value, Petro and Farmar smal contract will expire next season use a second to dump Petro should be doable.
"Next year, with a full training camp, I think he can go after that Scott Skiles' record of 30." - Billy King
Dont midn movign Farmar for an expiring...
Especially if they think Dwight makes it to free agency and well need some more space.
But Morrow for an expiring? Thats weak.
If LA wants Sessions,
maybe they want Farmar back.
Maybe BKing can work a three or four team trade.
THE NBA
Where YOU DONT KNOW WHAT Happens
Billy King has something cooking
It doesn’t make sense to shop Morrow and Farmar around the league for expiring contracts unless u have something already in the works. I believe there is alot more to this story….
I grabbed 19 rebounds in my first professional game, and somehow found a way to score 20 points. I felt real good about it. I felt that this was the beginning of something good.
