Humphries Shoulder Only Sprained

Before Monday night's game, Avery Johnson gave a dire assessment of Kris Humphries left shoulder injury, saying "it doesn't look good", that he couldn't raise his arm and announcing that he would have an MRI Tuesday. Visions of another catastrophic injury danced in fans' heads.

Well, the MRI came back and there's good news. Stefan Bondy tweets, "Good news for Nets: Humphries only has sprained shoulder, day-to-day and traveling to Boston." Humphries has not yet been ruled out of Wednesday's game in Boston and should face the Raptors on Thursday. Originally, the team didn't even expect the team's leading rebounder could travel.

by Net Income on Jan 3, 2012 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed...

Everyone says the Nets can’t score but they are playing worse on D then O.

Paul George went 5/5 from three, and he wasn’t even making tough shots he was WIDE OPEN.

13/21 from three for the Pacers in total…61.9%. How do you allow that to happen?
Only one guy actually plays good D and that’s DeShawn Stevenson. Morrow and James played awful on D yesterday, and Gaines got beat alot too. And D-Will and MarShon aren’t defensive stoppers either.

by davidnets on Jan 3, 2012 3:44 PM EST up reply actions

Can't do either

"Next year, with a full training camp, I think he can go after that Scott Skiles' record of 30." - Billy King

by shea23 on Jan 3, 2012 3:44 PM EST up reply actions

Disagree

The offense is horrible, D-Will should stop passing to Shelden Williams but Morrow and Shawne WIlliams will eventually start knocking down three’s. And add some starters minutes for MarShon and the offense is too bad.

by davidnets on Jan 3, 2012 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

isn't*

The offense isn’t horrible

by davidnets on Jan 3, 2012 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

yes it is

a lot of those threes come from the offense taking bad long jumpers which lead to long rebounds and easy breakouts or no one in the post being able to make a shot so the guards are constantly forcing shots around the rim and the wings do not cycle back to stop the fastbreak

too many times they screw up rotations on delayed transitions because big man does not want to cover george hill on the perimeter. if they could rebound or make post shots this would all be moot

the one gripe i do have with the defense is that they foul way too much. I think the nets have given up about 70 free throws the last two games

Best offensive center in the nba, two solid years of rebouding. Likes to shoot? Hits near 50% from the field vs the woeful shooting of every net minus Hump and Marshon. Plays more D then the rest of the nets bigs as is evident by the total lack of help D since he went Down.

I said 10-0 and it could still happen. Anyone who says otherwise is just not a real fan. If you count moral victories, we’re really 0-6. And in an alternate bizarro universe, that would be 6-0. So we only have to lose the next four game! No problem, Avery is on it.

Stop toying with the opposition

Now that Hump’s return is imminent, it is time to turn on the afterburners and win the next 60 in a row. Prohorov has just put down his entire fortune on the Nets going all the way at 1000 to 1, and his elaborate ruse of acquiring players who appear to be mentally and physically challenged can now be revealed. They have all been hiding their Jordan-esque talents for years in preparation for this moment. After the championship is ours, Prohkorov will own the world. Well, at least Las Vegas. He’ll be like the new Moe Green—hopefully it ends better for him. The time is now because I’m getting sick of changing my signature after every game.

Twain was a huge Nets fan. The Mississppi River is the Nets season. Huck Finn and Jim are BK and Avery, and they are steering us down through this treacherous season. The Nets are camped out on an island in the middle of the river right now. Will they steer their way to freedom and the playoffs? Or will they end up painting the Orlando Magic’s fence? Stay tuned.

regarding their great relationship: I don't believe a word out of Deron's mouth

or BK’s to be honest. I like King, but I’ll believe it when I see it

IMO, Deron is looking at the Nets as suckers who are willing to kiss his ass, so he’ll sit around for a sec, see what they can do, and when/if they fail, he’ll just haul ass to Dallas like he was probably going to do anyway regardless of the Nets trading for him or not.

Him being in the Mavs locker room after they won the championship was damning evidence imo. You know that Cuban sent a message to him via proxy. Cuban is clearing space now because he knows he has Deron in the bag.

Sporting a red Texas Rangers hat, New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams walked through the Dallas Mavericks locker room Thursday night, congratulating the Western Conference champions on their Game 5 NBA Finals victory.

To all the Naysayers or Nyeters

Guys, it’s 6 games into the season. We’re not doing very well at all and with Lopez out I can understand the doom and gloom when it comes to Deron. But the whole put him in the D-league or trade him in a few months is what I find nauseating, more so than the team’s performance. I say that because I personally feel we shouldn’t even think about trading Deron Williams. Without Deron Williams there is definitely no Dwight Howard and without either this franchise is done. You can say what you want about finding young talent and becoming a rebuilding franchise but if we can’t go into Brooklyn with a banger, we’re not going to be relevant for YEARS to come. That’s 3-5 at the very least. Nobody is going to join the Brooklyn Nets with Lopez, some D-leagues, a rookie Brooks and no Dwill or Dwight. I don’t care how much cap space we have, we’ve had a huge capsule for YEARS. It hasn’t really gotten us anywhere because we can’t get anyone to sign. Trading Dwill for an ok PG and some picks isn’t really any help either.

I just want to remind you that the draft AND the FA this summer is going to be crazy. That includes our Dwill. That means if we keep him until then, at the very least we have SOME advantage into getting people to sign to NJ. We may not get all the top, but we may snag one or two that will hopefully have Dwill sign at least another year or even stay (assuming we don’t get Dwight). We no longer have to give up Lopez, Brooks, or any of our picks.

You guys see all the gloom and doom, but I’m going to look for best case scenario. Because if we don’t get it, we’re done anyway. I’ll always be a fan, dwight or dwill or not. But just saying 5-6 games in and you guys are giving up?

I don’t even want to call you guys nets fans.

Free agency won’t be crazy. Most of the good players are restricted

by DJ HeavyDuty on Jan 3, 2012 5:33 PM EST up reply actions

I think this FA is going to be a good one

The unrestricted Free Agents potentially of 2012:
Kirk Hinrich
Ray Allen
KG
Jermaine O Neil
Boris Diaw
Desanga Diop
Eduardo Najera
Antawn Jamison
Jason Kidd
Jason Terry
Andrew Miller
Ben Wallace
Dahntay Jones
Chris Kaman
Mo Williams
Andrew Bynum
Derek Fisher
Deron Williams
Dwight Howard
Jameer Nelson
Vince Carter
Steve Nash
Gerald Wallace
Raymond Felton

to name a few.

by Roccor420 on Jan 3, 2012 5:38 PM EST up reply actions

LMAO all old players
Wallacee and Felton are the only ones id touch

by DJ HeavyDuty on Jan 3, 2012 5:43 PM EST up reply actions

the saddest part is:

I’d rather field most of these “old” players that are starters for the majority of the teams they play for instead of the squad we have now.

You all want the new and improved, or up and coming, but we can’t be choosers when we’re beggars.

We can significantly upgrade our roster with picks and the FA coming up.

Great find

The obnoxious Mavs homers were talking as if Dirk cold renegotiate his contract and as if it was a done deal that he would do it. Well Cuban himself admitting it’s not possible puts an end to that.

by Andres B on Jan 3, 2012 5:50 PM EST up reply actions

Summary...for lazy NetsDaily readers and you know who you are...(LOL)
"Renegotiation," "renegotiate," or "renegotiated" means Contract amendment that provides for an increase in Salary and/or Unlikely Bonuses." And in the section regarding renegotiations and extensions, we read this: "In no event shall a Team and player negotiate a decrease in Salary or in any Incentive
But the act of players lowering their salaries in the near term, to help their team’s cap, doesn’t exist.

"You’ve got it right,’’ Cuban tells DallasBasketball.com. "I don’t know if the fans and the media understand it, but the teams do. There is no ‘provision’ to cover this circumstance.
In the specific case of the Mavs, there are a number of tools available to them to create cap space. (DB.com is working right now on what we believe will be the definite piece on what Dallas can do to attempt to team Dwight and Deron with Dirk.) But a reworking of Dirk’s contract in order to lower his cap impact next summer and create room for another superstar or two won’t be among them.

Dwight or bust....
Superbowl or bust...

by D-Will2Nets on Jan 3, 2012 5:59 PM EST up reply actions

Even if we learn D-Will isn't staying and we have to trade him

Who takes him? What can Dallas or LA give us? Those are about the only options, and I doubt we’ll get a whole lot considering they KNOW they’re our only options. We’ll get a handful of worthless draft picks because wherever we trade him to will get Dwight and be an instant Championship contender. Some expiring contracts so that we can overspend on more mediocre players, maybe. Look how much trouble NO had trading Chris Paul. They got a great deal in the end, but teams in the market for a PG combined with teams who will actually get something out of trading for D-Will doesn’t present a whole lot of promise for us.

by Alex Witkowski on Jan 3, 2012 5:57 PM EST reply actions

i wouldn't worry about Deron right now...

So many things can happen from here to July….and so many things can change.

by M I K E on Jan 3, 2012 5:59 PM EST up reply actions

I’m worried the Brook injury was the only change we’re getting since mid-December. I’m not sure I regret going all in for Dwight—Chandler or Nene don’t make us title contenders in the slightest, so what’s the point of committing the next few years to being a low-end playoff team? But I don’t know…Orlando pulls the trigger on Dwight to LA, and I highly doubt Dwight says no to a contract there. Sigh.

by Alex Witkowski on Jan 3, 2012 6:03 PM EST up reply actions

Nets ownership was/is going all in for Howard...

no matter what you wanted to do.

So don’t worry about it too much.

Times are tough right now but try to stay positive. Negativity is a killer…

by M I K E on Jan 3, 2012 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

And assuming Lopez comes back healthy

we now have Brooks(becoming more attractive) and a potential top 5 pick to send to ORL.

Nothing has changed and people are jumping ship. Oh well.

by NetsKiNG on Jan 3, 2012 6:08 PM EST up reply actions

I guess I’m most worried about the fact that, with our luck, Bynum stays healthy, puts up monster numbers, and is the clear superior to Lopez. I’m trying to hold out hope about the fact that I really don’t see why Howard would want to go to LA. I’m not sure they can afford D-Will and Dwight with Kobe and even if they do, they’d have to be completely broke before the rest of the roster fills out. I’m hoping he’s thinking the same way.

I’m trying to stay positive about Brooks because he’s been a high point so far, but Damion James has been pretty disappointing.

I don't like Deron's attitude

It seems like he’s quit on this team and is acting like CDR. Im surprised more of us aren’t upset with his play. Replace Deron with any superstar and this team would be better. He has been disappointing,

by i says on Jan 3, 2012 7:53 PM EST reply actions

You must not be watching the game, my friend

I just don’t see you how you can possibly believe Deron is trying his hardest. It’s clear he’s waiting for Superman, just like the rest of us. However, that’s no excuse to not play 100%. Honestly, he hasn’t been an all star through these first 6 games.

by i says on Jan 3, 2012 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

well

from what I’ve seen he’s been trying his hardest. Its not that easy to put up 30 points with such a horrible team, especially being a pass first PG

CDR really?
