Playoffs

First off let me say that was a great win today for us. We beat a playoff team at their home place without MarShon and Lopez. I don't want to get a little ahead of myself but I think we have a realistic chance of making the playoffs. We have hung around without brook and when he gets back we will be so much better Deron won't have to work as hard every night to score because Lopez will help with that burden. Also the east is very weak. If we somehow got to the playoffs and avoided the heat or bulls we could have a legitimate shot to win.

Also beating The Magic could be the greatest thing to happen should we get matched with them. It will show Deron that we can play with the better teams and it will show Dwight how good we can be if he decides to join. I know the playoffs are a long shot but we have a sort of favorable schedule .

We have Cleveland Toronto Indiana Detroit Minnesota and the Knicks coming up. At the least we should go 3-3 and we could possibly win 4-5. I know that this team doesn't always resemble a playoff team but with a healthy Lopez coming back and with the way Deron and MarShon have been playing lately I see no reason why we can't steal a lower seed.

Yeah I hope we can put together a win streak vs Cleveland Toronto and maybe even Indiana

Hard to believe...

But the Nets certainly have a shot at the playoffs. The No. 8 seed and possibly the No. 7 seed will be filled with a very sub-.500 team. The eventual addition of a healthy Lopez could very well get the Nets a few more wins and distinguish them from the East’s bottom feeders.

Of course, having a .425 winning percentage and getting swept in the first round of the playoffs is nothing to get too excited about, but I suppose it’s better than having a less than .425 winning percentage and not making the playoffs.

It's not hard to believe at all.

Nets are clearly a very new team with little practice as a unit with serious injury issues and a difficult early schedule.

for the right of watching tv broadcasted nets games...

Yeah I agree with not getting swept, actually if we could avoid the heat and the bulls I’d put our chances of winning at around 35-40%. This is based on Lopez coming back and getting 20 a game like last year

I think our chances just went up

as Bogut is out indefinitely for the Bucks.

I think 7th or 8th is very possible.

Yeah I agree 6 is a pretty long shot but maybe Orlando takes the 2 seed from the heat they’re only .5 games back. Also the sixers could very well go on a losing streak if Hayes and the rookie are out much longer. Atlanta lost horrors and Indiana has a tough schedule coming up

Sneaking into the playoffs in the eastern conference is certainly a possibility. The gap between the best and worst teams is sizable. The real question in my mind is, can avery johnson as a coach form some kind of consistency with this team, and can he improve the defense to the point where the Nets are competitive on a game by game basis? Because that is the biggest issue that I have seen and to be frank with you, my confidence in the players buying into Avery’s system has been waning progressively since the season began.

I think we are starting to see that consistency

I know it’s been only 2 wins in a row but i’ve noticed a lot of team ball, less confusion and more cohesion as the season as progressed. Your right about the defense though. If we can keep getting better on defense and sustain a good defensive squad it will make a world of difference.

playoffs are a definite possibility

We are finally starting to play well. Shots are falling and i see chemistry that wasn’t there when the season first started. If Lopez comes back healthy we are definitely a playoff team IMO.

Yeah even though Lopez doesn’t have a great reputation as a defender it makes a big difference when you have a 7 footer in the middle. He blocks shots and changes countless others with him back in the lineup I expect our defense to get better. We really need to make a run at the 6 seed to avoid the heat and bulls
