MRI On MarShon Brooks Negative, Game-Time Decision Wednesday

The Nets said Tuesday that an MRI taken on MarShon Brooks' left Achilles was negative, and that Brooks will be a game-time decision in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Brooks suffered the injury in Sunday's win over the Bobcats and was held out of Monday's loss in Chicago. The only Nets who have played in all 18 games this season are Anthony Morrow and Shelden Williams.

Not worth it.

I think the nets need okur’s expiring contract more than they need these two guys. And no reason to give up a second round pick too

Opinion on supposed K. Love deal?

I’m surprised Minny didn’t offer the max to him and even more surprised he took the deal. Must really like the place.

by djeterfan on Jan 24, 2012 9:10 PM EST reply actions

He can.

Westbrook just signed for 5/80. Same case.

by djeterfan on Jan 24, 2012 9:14 PM EST up reply actions

the diference is minimum

5 years, 80 M, is 16M per year.
4 years, 62 M, is 15,5 per year.

Love is a beast, at the end of that 4 years he can get another monstetr contract easily, I guess he just wanted 4 years, in case the Wolves don’t become that great.

2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!

by Heavinsent on Jan 24, 2012 10:09 PM EST up reply actions

technically Love can sign a 5-year extension but it isn't as simple as it sounds....

Love is currently eligible for the same five-year extension worth nearly $80 million that Russell Westbrook received last week from the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the Wolves have to this point in negotiations been unwilling to make Love their “designated player” and offer him a five-year max contract, maintaining that they want to keep as much future flexibility as possible as they continue to rebuild their team.

Based on the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement, every NBA team can have one “designated player” on its books whose rookie contract has been extended for five years.

by Nets2410 on Jan 24, 2012 11:15 PM EST up reply actions

they are a young upcoming team

they’ll be really good in 2 or 3 years. i’m actually glad an nba star isn’t making lists of teams he wants to be traded to and will stick with the team who drafted him.

they still have to prove they can beat good teams, but don’t blame their schedule has been relentlessly easy. they’re at least taking advantage of it.

I agree

5-13 looks bad, but looking back to when we lost Lopez, it’s actually not that bad considering how it could have been. our worst loss that we could have turned into a win was in Cleveland, who turned out to be a decent team.

nah, he's just planning his attack

he doesn’t barrel to the hoop like LeBron or even Wade does. He sizes up his defender and decides the best way to approach. When he actually needs to get by someone, his first step is sufficiently quick.

by sheepareevil on Jan 24, 2012 10:20 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

the announcers in the PHX game set it best

hes deceptively quick, if you watch his highlights its not like he cant put it on the floor and beat you. I think he’s more comfortable in iso though

by BigBlue91 on Jan 24, 2012 10:33 PM EST up reply actions

There is this guy Paul Pierce who is not really quick either yet I remember him beating super athletic Freaks D-Wade, Lebron and Kobe on his way to a title

He played them all on both ends of the floor and more than held his own…

Amongst friends I always called Pierce “Rec Center”. As in that guy at every rec center in the world that doesn’t look that big, fast or strong but just keeps scoring. The ball just keeps going in. It looks slow and even ugly sometimes but it just goes in.

MarShon has some “Rec Center” in his game.
But as it was mentioned his combine numbers are right there with every “athlete”.
I think he is still learning his NBA game. And once he learns it and gets in even better conditioning you will see more Athletic moves.

by MrBDown on Jan 25, 2012 5:05 AM EST up reply actions

I agree and I'm a little concerned about that

also, he plays defense with his hands too much. He’s gotten some steals and deflections because of those long arms, but he needs to learn how to move his feet on defense.

He doesn’t seem to take the ball strong to the basket either. He’s going to need to learn how to do that.

by mytoemytoe on Jan 24, 2012 9:24 PM EST up reply actions

Big Picture Please?

There is no good reason to rush MarShon back onto the court, if he is not 100% ready.
This guy is probably the real deal, so let’s not screw him up by making him play while is is not ready. AND let’s keep him away from the METS’ doctors. Clearly, DJames’ first surgery was done by the docs from flushing, since they had to replace the screw today. Too bad, he never rerally had enough of a chance to play this year or last year. But his game is limited, and there are plenty of players who are going to be available this summer, who are at least just as good, and may even cost less. PLUS we should be drafting a SF. But again, let MarSHon sit till he is 100%.

I've heard good things about him

in general no one takes notice of the Sixers; I haven’t been able to watch them, other than that game against the Knicks where they on the last night of a back-to-back-to-back. It’s a shame they get no national coverage; their record is quite good, even if it’s against mostly mediocre teams, but way worse teams like Boston and New York get a few nationally broadcast games a week.

Battie has destroyed us. I won’t be suprised if he drops 20.

so much of this thread full of bad trade proposals

like no one outside of New Jersey is worth anything that you can slap morrow, shawne, or farmar together with a second round pick and VOILA.

because the nets are 10-6 right now and all the players in these said proposals are playing lights out and have no major flaws that would decrease their trade value

you’d think if it was that easy to get a valuable forward who wont mess up the Dwight plans Billy would have done it already

I couldnt stop laughing when I saw Linas Kleiza. Dude signed a near max MLE last two offseasons ago and has just returned from microfracture surgery. Why not suggest Josh Childress or Trevor Ariza while we’re at it? Are people even thinking or actually trying to gauge what value other players on other teams hold?

I'm calling Deron Williams and MarShon Brooks

“The Man and The Martian”

"I think I’m the best point guard in the league. No reason. I just think I’m the best.’’-Deron Williams.

Like Pruiti says on his latest rookie rankings, Marshon really needs to step up the D

He’s basically in the same situation in college, we need him to score so that’s an easy excuse to not exert effort defensively, but that’s where bad habits become formed

Great point and its unfortunate but I have seen him start to pay more attention when guys are cutting

Not fall asleep as much, but its most definitely a work in progress.

"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
