Stein: D-Will a "Lock" For London
Marc Stein tries his hand at paring the Team USA training camp invite list down to an Olympic roster and thinks Deron Williams is a lock for one of the final 12 who will take to the London Basketball Arena court to defend their country's gold medal.
Stein believes that nine spots are a given: They are Chris Paul, Derrick Rose and Williams at point guard; Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade at shooting guard; Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant and LeBron James at forward; Dwight Howard at center. Of course, that could change. Players could get injured or have personal crises.
Rounding out the roster, thinks Stein, will be Blake Griffin, Chris Bosh and Kevin Love, with Tyson Chandler and LaMarcus Aldridge ready to fill in if any of the bigs can't make the trip.

By the time the Olympics arrive
Let’s hope and pray that Williams an Howard go to London as team mates.
Would be amazing

Then why is DWill 5th among Eastern Conference guards for All Star game?
The fans are obviously uninformed and don’t like his team.
DWill might have a better disposition if he makes the Olympics as well as the All Star game.
one doesn't have to do with the other

Jerry you seem to think everything is a conspiracy against the Nets
How about the Nets suck, are relatively unpopular, and D-Will is having a down year so far.

it's not a conspiracy theory
facts are facts… Wade and Rose are more popular

because he isn't one of the top 2 guards in the conference
it’s pretty simple, not everything is because people “hate” the nets.

He hasn't played like on either
There are probably 4 Guards that have played better than him PLUS his team.
Dwight or Bust

Regarding trading DWill before the trade deadline ....
Is it true that Westbrook can no longer be traded before March 15 because of his extension?
he's not being traded regardless

I think they are missing shooters...
The other teams will just clog up the paint when they play against the US.

that's a great point, Stein's list is missing shooters.... but who?

Come on, Missing Shooters?
You mean pure shooters, but that isn’t needed, those guys are all Superstars, they can do it all, defend, drible, pass and shoot the ball really well!

Sarcasm? Or have you forgotten what happened to Team USA several years ago when it was pretty much assembled like All Star team

but that team had poor chemistry, they couldn't play as a Team
all this guys can score 30 and 40 points in any given night, and this team is much more experienced.

the team needs someone to shoot in Fiba play
Teams foul to stop the fastbreak. Steph Curry was upset the team didn’t him after he won gold on the last team.
Anthony Morrow should be on the team just to spread the floor.

In contrast to the negative news from Broussard about DWill eyeing other teams (which I don't believe) ....
Ric Bucher today re-affirmed DH’s preference to go to Nets in an ESPN Internet chat:
Brian (SLC):
Why wouldn’t the Clips trade Blake for Dwight? Perfect time to sell high on a guy with serious defensive limitations and a chance to pair CP3 with the second best player in the game as both are in the middle of their primes.
Ric Bucher
(1:14 PM)
Clippers realize that Dwight is a better player right now. But Blake is on his rookie contract and the bang for the buck simply isn’t close. Bottom line is, DH isn’t coming to the Clips. They explored that last summer and while if there was a fourth team on his list they’d probably be it, they are not in the same place in his thinking as the Nets, Mavs and Lakers. In that order.
http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/42180/nba-with-ric-bucher
In a separate Email, Bucher maintains that Bynum wouldn’t be enough to get Howard and that Dallas doesn’t have enough to trade.
but wait
don’t we hate ric bucher? no, wait, we love him. no, wait…

My 12 are:
- Paul; DWill; Rose;
- Kobe; Wade;
- LeBron; Melo; Durant;
- Aldridge; Griffin;
- Howard; Love;
Bosh has been in US team for a while, he deserves to be there too, but Griffin has more hype around him, and that means more hype around team USA, and there’s no better place than the Olympics, to show to the world all the talent you have in your country.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
Griffin would struggle with foul trouble .. intl refs won't put up with his aggressive style

I don't think he has space to play much time, but it would be funny just to play some minutes and make some monster dunks in the biggest stage, and show off to the world
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
team usa isn't about hype or superstar visibility
It’s about team play and being willing to sacrifice what you’re used to doing as a star. That’s why Iguodala was successful, why Bosh will be successful, and why Griffin is probably a bad fit. He’s pretty immature, I don’t see him giving up his “lob city” status in order to do what’s best for the team

Like I said to 3ptChucker...
I don’t think Griffin or other PF will have space to play much time, because Melo and Durant will spend much time in there, but it would be funny just to play some minutes and make some monster dunks in the biggest stage, and show off to the world.
But agree Bosh deserves it more.

Griffin would be useless teams foul to stop the fast break.

They like to play small at the 4 in international play.
Paul – Deron
Kobe – Wade
Lebron – Iggy
Durant – Melo
Dwight – Bosh
Extras – Rose (PG/SG) , Griffin (PF/C)
"This isn’t fantasy or rotisserie basketball. Why would Denver want Outlaw? Would you?" - Al Iannazzone
yeah, that will be the starting 5, but I think they will call Love and Aldridge instead of Iggy and Bosh or Griffin
Love and Aldridge can shoot the ball well
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
melo gota start
melo has always dominated international play. kd might b on the bench i hate to say it but it might b true. n love over griffin. love can shoot 3s.
Westbrook can't share the ball as good as the other 3 PG...
Team USA doesn’t need any more scorers and ball hogs.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
yup, that was announced when they teamed up Melo and Amare, and now Shumpert doens't help the cause....
Shumpert as potential but not as PG, they desperatly need a healthy ans in form Baron Davis.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
Magic Johnson
Just said on ESPN that if Knicks don’t make the playoffs, they should move to Newark.
I absolutely hate that homer. Also talked about to Dwight definitely going to Lakers.

LMAO I bet he doesn't even know who plays on the Bucks such a big market homer
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
Broussard also said
His gut is that Dwight goes to LA.

"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
can you blame
him?? They assume the Magic will go after the better player to replace their star.
Bynum will be an all star and playing great
LAL probably doesn't get Howard
If they don’t offer Bynum + Gasol.
by djeterfan on Jan 20, 2012 8:06 PM EST via Android app up reply actions
They also don't get him if he's hesitant about resigning
In the offseason before I said it was a lock he would resign with LA not so sure anymore.
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
I'm with you
This recent Shaq attack is great for us. With all these comparisons, Dwight will think twice.

They are a distant third for a reason as well
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
still on his list of teams he would resign with if he was traded
that being said the list is for the Magic to find a suitable trade partner and work something out.
I know but my point is whatever team he goes to hes not going to resign until the offseason
If LA feels he is hesitant becasue of whatever reason they would be hesitant to give up a Bynum and especially not Gasol as well.
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
I don't think it will just take bynum and gasol
the way Bynum is playing he will be an all star. So the Lakers could put together a package with a third team and really don’t have to worry about losing too much.
still Lakers are holding the cards right now
ORL wants LAL to turn Gasol into a younger star(s).
Lakers have nothing else to offer to make a better offer than Nets could.
There's 3rd on his list according to a lot of reports
But who knows? We’ll wait to see.
by djeterfan on Jan 20, 2012 8:14 PM EST via Android app up reply actions
depends they can still try three teams trade
thing is they have the best player available so they will be in it till other wise
I just don't understand that either

He thinks the Lopez injury is the Nets downfall.
He has a point there, but he doesn’t acknowledge that Brook is on schedule to be fully recovered and playing for Nets within 4 weeks.
At the end of the Clippers game CP3 went up to Marshon and said "I like the way you play" sort of sought him out
Guess kid is starting to open the eyes of the big time players, wasn’t sure what he said before.
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
Watched his highlights vs the Clippers
They showed all his baskets what announcers were saying about him and the end of the game when CP3 went up to MarShon as he was talking to D-will.

it’s obvious they aren’t going anywhere with this core. If they keep up this crap I could see them shaking things up at the deadline.
I've heard
That they might hold everyone this year, including ‘Antoni, cause they’re convinced Nash will join them in the offseason.

Gasol and Bynum is the best 1-2 PF and C in the NBA. Getting Howard will not solve their problems immediately. What they need is a guy who could provide instant offense, someone like Jamal Crawford, or Al Harrington.

Look at Miami. Guys will want to play with A) an elite PG and B) by far the best center in the league, especially if it’s in a brand new arena in the greatest city in the world.

Fourth in the NBA right now.

I'm amazed
people are laughing at the Knicks but even with a losing product they will still be selling out games and get national televised games. If the Nets are losing they will be no different than the Wizard Bobcats and Kings expect they will a billion dollar arena
still though
the Nets were fighting for the same guy. They have what the Nets are dying to get and are where the Nets want to be
the knicks are overrated though
and also melo is a ballhog and stat is slow and old…way different scenarios
ITS A VVVVVVCCCCCCCCCCC THREEEEEEEEEEEEE
Dwill and Dwight
are significantly better than Amare and Melo.
Dwight is the best defensive player in the game. Changes everything.
Dwight is a true game changer, one of the very few ones in the whole league
he has that not-so-good ORL team winning games. He doesn’t have a teammate as good as DWill.
Yeah, Stat is beeing the main factor this year, I don't know what's up with him, but he's not playing at his level.
Last year he single handly carried the Knicks to the playoffs.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
I think we would be better tham that, the Knicks just can't play as a team, they have zero chemistry, But we wouldn't be a instant top team too ...
Yeah, like I always say Lebron can play with a bunch of scrubs, but he can still beat any team in the league.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
Pretty amazing how so many expected Knicks to be like a 3 seed.
They’d have turn things around right now.

Also, the Knicks have played one of the softest schedules in the league.

Their problems are many.
They desperately need a PG to run the PnR/PnP with Amare and to feed Chandler for easy baskets. They desperately need shooters. They desperately need better defense from Melo/Amare. They need their bench players to start being productive (some were productive in the past, but not this year).

Melo is capable of performing to the expectations of the big city and bright lights.
The problem is he’s known for his unexpected level of motivation. We’ve already seen two or three MAJOR slumps for the Knicks since his arrival. Granted, they are still in the early stages of their super team, but this is why I am so grateful that we ended up with a better player at a lower price.

Agree he has not be playing well
Dwill is a team player, he needs the team to shine, if the team is not working well together, he looks bad too. But Dwill will prove to be the player he is, the team chemistry and dynamics will get better trough the year.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
If you didn't see a drastic difference in the team's play after the Deron trade last year, I don't know what to tell you.
He was playing with both wrists injured. Along with that, it’s tough for a playmaker to come onto a new team and be totally effect. And STILL, he had several brilliant games. He had 47 assists in his first three games with us, which was a record for assists in the first three games with a new team. Even with off-shooting, he was great. Do you really call that awful?
This season, there’s no question he’s been in a slump, but his struggles have been blown out of proportion. He tore it up against Golden State and Phoenix. And let’s not forget, without Brook, this team’s depth is very limited.
Damn lol

With Nix-Fans logic, he’s done with LA ….he coming to DuhBrooklyn
It sure seems that way, although last February Dwight smiled brightly when the sideline reporter asked him who he’d most like to play with.
But this can only be a good thing if those two don’t like each other.
Dont think they don't like each other but there not nearly as close as D-will and D12
8 year age difference, I think D12 respects Kobe but looks at him as the old wave of stars, sees the negative energy of Shaq IMO.

If he did, I might’ve had a stroke.

They need a defensive center in the worst way.

It turns out
He was an awful player. He couldn’t shoot. He couldn’t run an offense efficiently.
Then he got hurt.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
he's better at SF, he's a good defender and can make the 3.
But that’s not a problem, they are very young and even if they don’t sign anyone in the next years they will make the playoffs soon, they will get better and better every year they have so much talent, but if they don’t add some D to their game they will never pass the 1st round of the playoffs. I think C is abigger problem than SG
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
Unfortunately
He doesn’t rebound well enough to be a SF. That, combined with his other flaws, pretty much dooms him in my eyes.
He’s not even that young. He turns 25 in July.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Darko owning Griffin thus far
by NJ Champ on Jan 20, 2012 11:09 PM EST via Android app up reply actions
They have Kevin Love to rebound, and Wes defense will put him on the floor.
Rubio just arrived and will make them a playoff team very soon
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
That's not how it works
And even if we ignore his rebounding, It’s not like he’s shot particularly well (especially as a SF, where the standard is higher). He almost never gets to the line because his handle is so weak and he can’t to the basket.
He’s a bust. if he’s even in the league in a few years, he’ll be coming off the bench.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
yeah, I didn't said he's a star or starter, but his defense and 3pt shot makes him a decent player.
he’s going to get better than this, he’s playing worst than his rookie year, give some time.
But forgeting Wes, the Wolves are the team with most young talent in the league, and now that they seem finally setting their team, Khan will stop stockpiling talent and may be starting to trade some of the many young players they have. I like a lot Anthony Tolliver, great defender, can play the SF and PF and make the 3, he would be a great addition for our Super Team. Fo me a guy that defends well and can shoot the 3 is an excellent role player, even more with the size Tolliver has.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
As long as Kahn doesn't do anything too crazy (like re-signing Beasley)
They’ll have the cap space to get the players they need in a few years.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
they have six expiring contracts, Beasley, Webster, Miller, Love, Randolph and Tolliver
Unless they trade him, I really see Khan resigning Beasley.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
Wes Johnson is horrid
I thought he had potential too.

i must be in the minority of...
…one.
I don’t buy into the Nets will trade DWill if Dwight doesn’t come. Let me point out:
- DWill for as much as he wants to win; he also loves him some green cash; the only superstar to go overseas for money; he’ll also be the one who says “wait, who said I was leaving the Nets cuz of Dwight being dealt somewhere else? was it Ham-berger again? Or maybe Knicks fans disguised as ESPN reporters?”
- DWill has never had a backcourt mate with the potential of Brooks. Nor has he or any other NBA player in the past 36 years been part of a team re-branding itself and going into a brand spankin new arena in NY; a team that will soon have the pressure of building a winner in NYC, and actually having the assets to do so quickly.
- Everyone seems to think they know what’s going on inside DWill’s head, including us fans. But if anything, from what we’re learning and from what he’s shown going back to the infamous “ham-berger” incident all the way to the present — whenever we’ve seen the frustration on the court or sitting on the bench, is that we all end up being wrong cuz he’s come up big in the few games we have won and he sure looks like he’s happy being here after those wins.
Anyway…I just can’t allow myself to only look at the glass half empty version of what could happen should D12 end up anywhere but NJ/BKLN without also being fair and looking at the glass half full version of that scenario.
Not the minority
Dwill doesn’t look like they type of player that likes to leave 30 mil.

Dwill from what we seen
doesn’t look like a patient man. He will not buy into promises of BK
Dwill will leave if Dwight isn't a Net
1. Deron has said himself he doesn’t care about big market this or that he wants to win. If this season has shown us anything Deron does not handle losing very well. He has no interest in a rebuilding product.
2. Deron said himself that he could make up what he loses in endorsements.
3. This is about Deron being happy. He is not going to be happy if the Nets are rebuilding. He would rather go back to Dallas. He knows Cuban history and admires him. Cuban has proven he is willing to go all out to ensure that his team competes. Plus teaming up with a hall of player like Dirk is better than Lopez.
4. Deron has said himself he wants to play for whatever team gives him the best chance to win a ring. He personally feels the Nets bets chance to win a ring is Dwight.
well with that Logic...i don't see how Dallas is giving him any reason to go there.
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:19 AM EST up reply actions
he has many reasons to go to dallas
it goes from playing in your home state, playing along side a hall of fame player, having a hands on owner who is dedicated to winning and has proven he can build a championship team and so on
Players say stuff, I dont see him giving up that 5th year especially with how bad he played so far this year
by RandyOreens on Jan 21, 2012 12:19 AM EST up reply actions
I don't see him
staying with a team that doesn’t have Dwight just to get a 5th year either. If his actions have shown you anything this guy does not tolerate losing well
So Dwight is the only way to make this a winning team?
With our cap space, a healthy Brook, Brooks in his second year and a pick in the lottery why is Dwight the only way we can become a good team going into
BK?

has not shown that this year… in regards to point 3. He let some key players from his championship team walk…
sup Dancer
he did in order to get Deron. That nearly similar to the Nets who assemble their team to be in play for Dwight if he wasn’t traded
but Nets will have a better chance to being a winner
without D12.
Lopez, Hump, Brooks, draft picks, capspace DWill >>>>> Dirk/Dwill
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:24 AM EST up reply actions
no they won't
that team still loses in the first round. If that is the case Dwill would have given Billy the go ahead for Nene and others.
Dallas will be able to lure free agents. Nets have yet to prove they can
oh boy
so DWill would rather give up 30 million and lose in the first round with Dirk.
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:27 AM EST up reply actions
who knows
one thing for sure. Looks like he would rather leave than being on an 8 seed team at best.
again that line up you name is nothing special.
the point is
that lineup includes the chance of drafting a good player and the capspace to sign an additional player. Put all that together and you have the potential of something special.
Whereas in Dallas, DWill gives up money to go there. Dallas uses capspace to get him. They have no assets to get anyone else.
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:33 AM EST up reply actions
the point is you are still talking about building
if what you say was all it would take to get Deron to commit the Nets could have settle for Nene because it is not a sure thing they will get Dwight.
If all it took was an okay team to get Deron to commit the Nets could have sign nene and made other moves but obliviously it takes more than that
so true i think the team’s objective is to get a ring not just settle for first round exits
by avilanets85 on Jan 21, 2012 12:44 AM EST up reply actions
so what dallas would be doing next year is not rebuilding?
how so? Tell me the clear advantage they have that makes them instant championship contenders? And consider the fact that two of the big FAs in the offseason is going to be signed — Love and Westbrook.
Dallas would have to “build around” dirk and DWill.
So if both teams are starting from scratch but one team only has dirk and some cap space and the Nets already have good young talent and more assets to get even better players…which team do you pick to build with?
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:46 AM EST up reply actions
they already have an hall of fame player
who said they would be instant contenders.
The thing is that Dallas would be better for Deron than a rebuilding team still trying to make the playoffs and convince free agents to sign.
Again Dallas doesn’t have that problem. Dallas chose to go this route in order to get Deron.
I seen what Cuban can do. I seen Rick coach his squad to the promise land. Dallas has accomplish goals that the Nets are trying to.
Both teams are not starting for scratch. One will have a hall of fame player. The other will have a Brook Lopez
WOW.
Do you do Dirk’s errands too? Dirk will be a HOF in the twilight of his career….LMAO.
How old do you think Dirk is? 27? LMAO. If DWill wanted commit the next 5 years of his life to the high potential that dirk has maybe 2 good years left, then he would’ve just told King to sign Nene, Caron, Chandler.
I don’t think you understand that Dallas wouldn’t be in any better position to build a championship.
You say you saw Dallas build a championship, then you’ll know that Cuban did it with trial and error for the past decade before getting it right. And when he finally did get it right, he blew it up in hopes to get DWill to agree to commit another trial and error blue print.
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:53 AM EST up reply actions
and by the way
i don’t know what super stars you refer to when you say Dallas can attract super stars. Last i checked, they were always overpaying better than average role players.
So even in that sense…I don’t see Dallas enticing Dwill.
by Versifiervt on Jan 21, 2012 12:58 AM EST up reply actions
i agree with outkast on the part that dallas would intrigue deron and dwight beacuse of dirk and that championship last year. i do agree with versifiervt also on the point that cuban did do it with trial and error it’s not he built a dynasty like the spurs or lakers so it’s guaranteed that they’ll get one real soon. not hating on the mavs i applaud them for their championship but at the same time with cuban aka the big money spender they did take awhile to win that first chip
You not making sense
1. this is your point. Deron will stay because of the potential of being on a team with Brook Lopez hump Brooks and a draft pick.
Are you serious? are you for real?? come on stop it.
You are not making sense. You are coming off as a homer.
Again if your logic was correct. If that was all it took to keep Deron why didn’t the Nets sign Nene on day one??
I mean trading for Dwight they would have to take on bad contracts like Hedo and Chris Duhon while giving up assets as well.
See that doesn’t make much sense does it. Deron said himself he has been on playoff teams. The team he signs with will be the team he feels will help him accomplish his goal. The line up you just name was an 8 seed team at best.
So I will say this again if all it took was an 8 seed team to get Deron to commit why are the Nets in the situation they are in right now. Why are they going all out for Dwight?
Having their star player struggle and grow upset after each loss?
because Billy King knows an 8 seed team is not enough. If Utah felt that Deron was going to walk away from them when they were a playoff team what makes you think he won’t from a lottery team like the Nets.
again your argument is lacking logic.
last thing I'll say
Dirk and DWill may not even be an 8th seed in the west and Dallas would face some major challenges in building around those two.
You’re clearly low selling Brooks, Lopez, Hump, draft picks, and Nets capspace.
It’s not homerism. It’s a near 40 year old dirk vs. a team with youth and a center who’s still might be one of the better centers in the league.
again I will say
this if that is all it would take to sign Deron why are the Nets in the situation they are in now??
See it makes no sense.
If Deron told King. I would like Dwight but hey I will stay if the team was okay. I really want that 5 year.
lets see billy could go through the same BS he did with Melo or he could sign Nene and other solid players and ensure the Nets have a good roster on the court
oops...wasn't the last thing...lol...
…if you’re going assume Dallas can “build around DWill and Dirk”, then it’s only fair for me to assume that King will be able to put the right pieces around DWill and a squad that’s really only just one to two pieces away from being legit.
Dallas would have to find more than just a few pieces to build around Dirk and Dwill. Nets would already have a SG, a Center, a PF as well as the assets to get at least one more really good player.
Now i’m done. I don’t know how i can make it any clearer to you. It’s late. This was fun. Won’t matter whether either of us are right cuz Dirk, DWill, Blo or Marshon don’t pay our bills. LOL. laterz.
Oh...and Dallas won't be luring nobody...
…without capspace which they’ll ultimately lose with signing DWiill.
And the Nets passed on Nene for the chance to get Dwight.

speak for yourself
I ALWAYS liked Collins. he always played hard despite his obvious offensive shortcomings, never complained, took tough contact (not all were flops, he wasn’t Varejao), and was generally really reliable. we certainly could have done better at the center position, but I admire a guy to stick it out in this league with little athletic ability and mostly hard work.

I didn't say he was an ideal starting center
but we certainly could have done worse. at least the guy knew his place on the floor and didn’t try anything he couldn’t do (the exception of a few “set shot willie” games) like Johan Petro. just because he was put in a position he didn’t belong doesn’t mean I should hate the guy.
It’s the same with Graham, honestly. he worked hard to get onto an NBA roster, we shouldn’t hate him because the Nets had terrible depth, injury and incompetence at the wing position, forcing him to play heavy minutes for us. he was obviously out of place, and I didn’t want him playing, but I don’t hate him for being thrust into a role he doesn’t fit into.

Blake Griffin's offensive strategy
option 1: call for lob
-if successful, instant sportscenter highlight
-if unsuccessful, whine to ref
option 2: get ball in post and dribble off foot
option 3: push someone in the back for an offensive rebound and dunk, don’t worry they won’t call it
Blake pushed Andre Miller in the back last year, ANd Miller put him right on the ground

the worst was when he tried to start a beef with Shelden Williams
who did nothing more than force a tie up off an offensive board. Blake had to make it personal and trash talk, like dude wtf? are you that insecure?
by sheepareevil on Jan 21, 2012 12:41 AM EST up reply actions
trash talk is "personal"?
are these the same fans that watched kenyon martin headbutt people for no good reason here (and loved it)?
by shane gayle on Jan 21, 2012 12:42 AM EST up reply actions
no trash talk isn't necessarily personal
but in that case it seemed so forced and out of place, like I can’t imagine Shelden did anything to push someone to talk smack to him. and looking at the replay, all he did was tie up Griffin after the shot, but Blake had to flop and talk moiso as he was getting up. whatever dude, gotta prove how alpha you are, get over yourself, it’s Shelden Williams.

I remember the year we got Jamal Magloire
I thought he would take us to that next step n start over Collins but we all how that ended up lol
Couple things worth noting with the Barclays Center design:
1) Genius move by the Nets to make it so that there won’t be any distractions behind the basket for the Nets when shooting free throws in the second half (particularly down the stretch).
2) The tightness of the bowl and the proximity of the fans to the court is awesome! I’m hoping it will be loud in there.
wow refs just screwed GS
Monte Ellis had a chance to win at the end, George Hill cleary kicked the ball, refs didn’t see, and Hill got a 3 point play to win it.

My only thing with OKC is that article I read which had Stern quotes about how OKC would not be able to hold onto their core because of the financial obligations each guy would command. And then Westbrook signs a max contract. They will have to give Harden and Ibaka decent sized contracts in the coming years.
I think they will pay them good
If you can go over the cap to sign your own player, I don’t think money will be a issue if the owner is dedicated to winning. I’m sure there front office thought about that as well prior to Westbrook extension

I was higher on Ibaka last season than I am so far this year. Harden I feel is a solid role player for them, and I just have the feeling some other team in the league will over-value him and cause him to choose more money on a different team over less to stay with the core.
Its up to them
but KD has always had that family mindset towards his teammates.

doubt it, t-wolves have like 5 dudes that are RFA next year
if nets have enough space to frontload an offer or just sign and trade Lopez over they should do it
they could have gotten Rudy Gay had he not signed the Grizzlies sheet right away, if Love gives the Nets the Nets may be able to work something out

I heard they were discussing a deal and love wanted the fifth year but
Minny only wanted four yr
Love will get that fifth year
the best chance that we have that this could happen is if dwight comes in FA
and Love doesn’t sighn an extension this year and we sighn brook and trade him for love since love would request a trade because he’s being influenced by dwihgt and dwill. I’m not even sure if this could happen money and new CBA wise
way to stick to em love!!!!!!

mo williams wrecked the game with all his whining and eventual ejection, Clippers folded up and settled for jumpers after that

all of the Clippers (except Billups) tried to win by whining
Rubio and the TWolves decided to play basketball.

How much different would the Nets be if the they had Rick Adelman as coach?
by NJ Champ on Jan 21, 2012 1:29 AM EST via Android app up reply actions
much better on offense
Adleman makes garbage look valuable. he’s making wayne ellington, anthony randolph, darko, pekovic, tolliver, and eventually webster all look like capable starters/role players
wes johnson though?

Thank god we didnt get Melo!!
Dude is a loser that makes his team worse.
He plays no defense and pouts like a baby if he doesnt hit his shots.
The Knicks are in turmoil and Dantoni is going to lose his job.
We may be losing games but at least we dont have the bad attitudes and selfishness on the team. We are only 2 games behind the “best front court” in the NBA.
I rather lose Dwill than have gotten Melo. Never liked him or his game.
Brandon Jennings loves taking a dump in MSG, its hilarious. Slumpert and Douglas got owned last nite.
Lets go Nets lets get this huge win tommorow vs Durant I will be there in the snow as usual!!!
so is this jennings new thing shoot 35% on the year but have one breakout game with like 8/12 3's made
and then live off that for a year and then wash rinse repeat

i can't wait until some player (kobe, lebron, jennings, whoever)
goes off in MSG, then after the game NYK media ask why the bright lights of MSG bring out the best in players. Then he says “it’s not MSG, it’s because the knicks suck”

2.5 games back of cleveland for 7th place
if nets can play .500 ball until lopez comes back and then make the playoffs that is a huge success for this season

Lopez is in week 4 of a 6-8 week rehab. If he comes back as himself in 2-2 1/2 weeks, I wouldn’t even be mad. The 2nd spot in division is more than up for grabs. As well as a 6th-8th seed.
Adjustment period will make things tough for the team imo
you have to factoring Marshon along with Lopez rust and how the ball will be distributed

Can we make a code word for Knicks? I can’t stand reading about them so much here.
BTW why doesn’t any one here post on that blog? Might as well.

god sportscenter is the worst
first they have that awfully suggesting story about “will Kevin Love leave Minnesota?!”, even though it’s extremely unlucky. then they just had a brief blurb about Deron, claiming he WILL leave New Jersey if the Nets don’t get Dwight.
Look, we all know it’s likely he won’t stay if he don’t get Dwight, but to declare at a uncertainty because of “sources” is just bad journalism, and misleading. Sportscenter is so key to creating perceptions, it’s not surprising everyone thinks we’re a joke when ESPN already assumes Deron is gone.
honestly
if I wasn’t a fan of the Nets I might think the same thing.
Deron “wants” to stay. Melo also wanted to stay, and Dwight wants to stay as well. but last I checked Melo is in New York, Dwight is as good as gone in Orlando

I don't blame people for thinking Deron will leave
but ESPN has practically written it in stone already.

BSPN is done, a joke, terrible
they have the “where will Deron go?” headlines because that is what people want to hear. They always run stories about what people want to hear, rather then what is actual

I was thinking of the worst case scenario for us and I think I found one worse than Deron leaving us after we fail to get Dwight
We lose out on Dwight, Deron leaves, the lottery balls are extremely unkind to us, and Brook pulls a Lamar Odom and is so hurt by our attempts to trade him that he requests a trade too.
