We've all entertained this idea. The question is, is it a good move?
I believe so. I think Dwill for Westbrook straight up is fair. The only real problem is the salaries. Lets lay down the Pros and Cons
If the Nets trade for him
Pros
-Westbrook is young and athletic
-He's determined to be the best player on his team
-He'll help solve our scoring problems
-We have a young team with lots of potential
-We can finally forget about the distracting trade talks
-We keep our picks in a strong draft
Cons
-We lose Williams and significantly reduce our diminishing chances at Howard
-We have a slight downgrade at the point
If the Nets don't
Pros
-We maintain our chances at Howard
Cons
-We hold on to a disgruntled star that isn't motivated to win
-We hold on to a disgruntled star that may or may not leave us
If the Thunder trade him
Pros
-They get rid of the competition between their two best players
-They upgrade at the point with a player that fits with Durant
-They gain a more respectable veteran presence than Kendrick Perkins
Cons
-They give up a great player with potential to be better
If the Thunder don't
Pros
-They keep a great player with potential to get better
Cons
-They don't get rid of the competition between their two best players
I honestly don't know why we shouldn't do this trade. Westbrook is a score first point guard,
and whether or not that is the best type of pg on a championship team, it's the best type of player the
nets need now, an athletic scorer who isn't gonna shy away from taking a bad shot. He scored 22 ppg last season,
only 3 points less than the league MVP, with more touches, the confidence of being the best player on the team,
who knows, he might even get better. I'm sure BK can find a way to make salaries match.
I want Brook, Brooks and Westbrook in our Brooklyn Nets!
