Arena "Tremendous" For Recruiting
Talking to Bloomberg's Rick Horrow, Bruce Ratner said Wednesday he believes that the Brooklyn brand and Barclays Center will be a "tremendous advantage" for the Nets in recruiting free agents in the future.
Without mentioning specifics, Ratner said, "There's a tremendous desire, generally, to play in a big market and there's already a tremendous interest by players and fans alike" in Barclays Center. Ratner who still owns 20% of the team and 55% of the arena added that the arena "is basketball centric...designed for basketball" along with "architecture with a capital 'A'." The accompanying video includes a rendering of the arena interior not seen before.

With in an interpretation
Here is Oder’s dissection of that very interview.
http://atlanticyardsreport.blogspot.com/2012/01/softball-interview-with-ratner-on.html
Why would I want to read an interpretation when I can just watch it myself?
Here’s my interpretation: Bruce Ratner’s voice sounds like Howard Stern doing an imitation of Christian Bale’s batman.
Timeless - The 2001-2003 NJ Nets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nima3dmLrcw
Why he did that
Oder did watch the original interview as well, and he saw it as just another softball interview as usual. Most of those who interview Ratner will probably never go into detail let alone bring up the EB-5 Program, which Oder mentions a lot in his entries. The AYR is not one of the bread and circus media, who constantly bows down to him, he looks at the real story and reports the truth. If you believe that he is wrong, then prove him wrong. However, I will need to see evidence and nost just some blanket statement or good faith. If you asked me, it’s good to have someone who can read between the lines like Oder.

The guys on TNT
keep it real! They don’t sugar code things.
sugarcoat? they are the most unprofessional tv analysts you can watch. Flip on NFL network analysis or cbs pre game analysis.
these guys are a bunch of clowns..no insight into the game..
I like Webber... and thats it.
JKidd Era 2! Starring D.Williams as the lead actor, Avery Johnson as Byron Scott, and Player X as Player Y.
Let the show begin!
charles barkley, kenny smith and ej are awesome...
they are fun to watch. they are entertaining…
agreed, i don't like Irvin or Faulk either, but the majority of them are professional
Unlike the NBA guys. I was watching NBA TV one day and they were talking about pimp jackets for 10 mins?…really???
But....they did give us this gem lol

You know what I meant. sugarcoat, sugar code, whatever. So you would prefer that they be vanilla and plain, thus not having an agenda or their own opinion?
I wasn't trying to correct your phrasing of sugarcoat...i was questioning you saying that they sugar coat things...yes they are honest for what 20 seconds out of a 15 minute segment
these analysts are like a Bad Comic opening up a show…They warming up the crowd. You will be lucky if they stay focused and talk about ball for more than 3 mins.
but evidently that's what fans want to see...
they win awards for their show every year. sometimes they are more interesting than the game itself
But I think you hit the nail on the head, they keep you warmed up before a game and at half time. No one can deny that they do a great job at that. I actually like that there are not filtered and are allowed to say whatever they want.
who wants professionalism?
this isn’t cnn.,. it’s sports. it’s supposed to be fun. that is why cbs now has them doing college games as well
well then they should change their titles from TV Analysts..cause they aren't analyzing ish.
No one is saying CNN, why do you have to over exaggerate your analogies for? But some analysis of basketball would be nice. They can even breakdown teams that aren’t on their agenda that day. Spend those extra minutes breaking down the “NBA” not a bet determining how many donuts you can put in your mouth.
fixed
if we ever get a game on TNT next year

the in game commentators might be the worst ever to do pro games …. and Kurt Warner is bias along with Sapp sounding like scooby do, hes worst than Shaq …., atleast the NBA guys are funny they keep me laughing..!
The Hardest thing for some men to do is .... Believe what they see!
he owns the majority interest in the arena...for now

He's saying the right things about the arena
His involvement made Brooklyn happen so for that i give him credit. We’ll never forget how he tore apart a great Nets team in order to save a buck…. but he at least made up for it by giving us the future.
It was never about the Nets
In reality, Ratner couldn’t care less about the Nets or Brooklyn. He just wanted more land, but needed a good Trojan Horse to push for it. I am still surprised that he didn’t mind getting rid of the players that he used as his posterchildren to push for it. Don’t be surprised if the same happens to the posterchild he is using now. If it was really about the Nets, then why is the arena less than ten percent of the entire project especially when he needs 22 acres? Doesn’t that sound like a lot just to place a team there? It makes me feel as if that was never the focus, but I am so glad that we have watchdogs online to see the real story.

Try telling this to those who have been closely following this, because they will say the exact opposite, while there is a film that holds the truth about it all that many will remember and it’s supported all over the country.

Of course he cares about Brooklyn
and if your heroes had compromised (rather than pushing a series of lawsuits that were destined to fail), the project would be well along.
As the Mayor has said, the critics committed a “great sin” against the city.

i hope he can make a come back...
i love a good come back
Who is everyone going for?
Miami, Lakers, or a nagging knee injury to Bynum that bothers him for rest of this year.
Sheridan spreads.
For some reason my TNT feed for Lakers-Heat is in Spanish, so I can’t understand anything. But I could make out “Dwight Howard”, followed by “Clippers”. Also “Deron Williams” followed by “Nets” “Mavericks” and “Lakers”. Lol.

gonna be tough to make the playoffs in the West
Utah is unexpectedly in right now, but who else misses to let Houston in? Portland, Memphis, Dallas? I don’t see that happening but the Rockets are only a half game back. this year is crazy.
by sheepareevil on Jan 19, 2012 9:09 PM EST up reply actions
i think utah is over-achieving right now. so is denver. i expect them to come down to earth...
i think the rockets are better than portland. and memphis will be without z-bo for a minute. i’ve been keeping up on the rockets. their losses came against top opponents. they are a decent team this year. i think they can make it in this year…
I think Utah will come back down to earth as well
but I have trouble believing Portland would miss the playoffs. they looked so good earlier in the season. same with Denver honestly. I’d pick Memphis and Utah to miss just barely, the former because Randolph is out, the latter because I think they’re just on a hot streak right now, which will subside.
so this is what I’m hoping:
1) OKC
2) LAL
3) LAC
4) Dallas
5) Portland
6) Denver
7) San Antonio
8) Houston
out:
Memphis
Utah
Minnesota
I find it hard to believe after last year Memphis will miss the playoffs, and I liked that team. but if it means we get Houston’s pick, I’ll root for them to overtake those teams.

I noticed that also
Its something worth mentioning in an interview about the arena, if only Ratner had given a recent interview to promote the new arena
appears that way

Confused about something in the video.
At one point the headline reads “Only 6 NBA teams have larger markets”. How is that right? After LA (two teams) and Chicago, Brooklyn Nets should be fourth in terms of market.
I think it's fine.

But if you would actually talk about the Nets as a team for once, you’d get a FAR better reception here on a site dedicated to the TEAM of the Nets.

I will let you in on something
I am not your everyday fan. I look at things that that go beyond just a team and their game. Also, I don’t say something that you can find on a bumper sticker either. Again, I have been to a number of Nets games since the idea was floated and asked fans there how they felt about it, and many of them did agree with me. If you want, go to games and survey some fans on what they think about the moves. Perhaps, you could be right and they will agree with you. The point is that I am against acts of cronyism, and actions such as eminent domain abuse and corporate welfare are some of them. I know some will try to use the claim that the end will justify the means to defend this or just act ignorant in that matter, but those who are following this will be it myself or Oder know the real story. Also, I don’t believe that we have to do something A to get something B, and this is not the movie Field of Dreams where building the latest sports facility will get star players or even help an area, such a claim like that is completely bogus if you asked me. Last time I checked, no other team has used a new arena as a way to attract really good players, so Billy King’s statement is nothing but wishfull thinking at best. The claim that they are net money losers goes all the way back to a study by Neil de Mause when he wrote the book, Field of Schemes, in proving that they don’t bring any tax revenues, but rather hurt areas and put levels of government in debt if ever funded. As for team logos and colors, I couldn’t care less about them because they mean nothing to me. If you asked me, you can have a state of the art arena and the best team money can buy, and still do bad in the end. As long as you have the same kind of team, the results will always be the same no matter what. Just look at how the Hornets and Grizzlies are doing after they moved, and you will see that their records and attendance are almost no different from before they left, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same happens to the Nets years later. Even if they could land somebody really good like Dwight Howard, does that really change anything? I would think not, because Carmello Anthony is playing his first full season with the Knicks and they are not in good shape right now. In reality, it is the team that helps them do good, not where they play or just because they have one star player. Another thing I don’t care about is who they land, because it doesn’t mean that they will just do better just because of that nor do I care about what some do off the court like when Kris Humphries had the short lived marriage with Kim Kardashian, though I think he was the one cheated. I am just not a person who follows the tabloids let alone that papparazi. If Brooks wins ROY, then good for him or even DWill winning MIP or MVP, though he probably has an outside chance for either one. In the end, I am a realist on things, so I don’t use any wishfull thinking. Again, I am not trying to stop anyone else from liking something just because I don’t like it, and there is no proof I have done that just for saying how wrong it is. However, I believe that wanting to keep them a NJ team makes me feel more of a fan than others, but that’s the way I see it, and I know that there are always those who will look at things differently. Afterall, according to philiosophy, what is right and wrong can change definitions depending on who views it. Do you catch my drift now? I am not trying to attack or repress anyone, but I feel that it’s good to hear from the other side rather than have a one sided forum where everyone always agrees, which makes it boring IMO.

Yes I read, and catch your drift
And not only do I think you are not a Nets fan, I think you are basically just using this board as a platform to promote your propaganda.
Have you ever posted in a game thread?
Have you ever given an opinion on who the Nets should draft?
Have you ever attended a game?
You have the all the right in the world to post here, as that is your freedom of speech and well deserved. But you are merely here just to promote your propaganda about the eminent domain and do whatever you can to tarnish Ratner.
Some of it is legit and some of it is just farcical. But regardless, you will continue to encounter a huge amount of negative response from people who are here as FANS OF THE NETS.
And then there is that whole “reply” button thing.

if they put him at SF. I think he’ll finish 3rd behind Rubio and Irving. not only are they more important to future of their teams, but they’re media darlings as well.

If he was playing anywhere but the Nets, yes
Naysayers will give credit to the presence of D.Will and the otherwise lack of talent on our roster
kyrie irving will run away with it...
rubio is an exciting player, and brooks is the best scorer. But i think when its all said and done, i think irving will have the best year…
Big Market teams will attract big names...
In reality isnt it only going to benefit the super stars? If D12 and Dwill lets say was here next year… they are the only 2 that will benefit from endorsements etc….
