I am creating the website for Fireavery.com (Or similar title) and need your help
Right now, I am creating the website (it is offline at the moment) for a fire avery movement.
It is going to be a pretty simplistic site, but I need content. I am not a sports writer, nor am I a talented writer in any subject. So I am asking for your help.
Right now, I have a "Why Fire Avery?" page. If someone could put all of the reasons together in a presentable, well written way, that would be amazing. I would like to congregate all ideas, and reasonings for why avery should be fired into one area.
EDIT: I was never for, or against firing avery. I never considered it that much. I needed a sports page to make for an HTML class project and saw a lot of people on here wanted to buy the site.
I guess I saw that after a loss or something.

Let me get this straight..
Avery is handed a half-ass roster that is PURPOSELY not supposed be talented (and therefore not supposed to win) because we are a franchise in waiting for the future, and you want him fired because we arent winning.
Because clearly that worked out so well.
Proud to hold season tickets to the only NBA team owned by a Russian oligarch.

fireavery.com is already owned by a Mavs fan…
Though it appears he’s interested in selling it to a Nets fan.

Disagree that we should fire Avery
I do not see that he has made many horrible decisions. I will try to defend a few of the common ones.
1. Playing Petro:
a. Petro’s minutes have been reduced, he only started for 2-3 games when Okur was freshly shipped here. If anything Avery might have started Okur too soon, leading to him reaggravating his back injury
b. Petro is the only back up center c. As we saw in first quarter of the Clippers game, Petro was the only bench player who could hit a shot.
2. Playing Shelden: this popped up at the beginning of the season, but Avery has proven the doubters wrong since Shelden has been playing with high energy, on most games.
3. Not playing Brooks enough: I agree Brooks has such potential. But
a). he is horrible on defense, there were so many times he tried to play the hero and go for the steal, and ended up the opponent driving straight to the basket either for a lay-up or an assist.
b). I think it was Mike Fratello who pointed out in the first/second game he took the floor that he looked lost and was disrupting the play. Stevenson backed that up when he threw his fit in the 3rd quarter of the Clipper’s game
c). All plays seem to stop when it goes to Marshon’s hands, I know that’s not a bad thing since the rest of the team cannot score anyways. But, that cannot be good for the team as a whole.
Fire Avery is misguided
If you don’t like the direction of the franchise, attack Prokhorov, who has set the direction that you don’t like. If you like the direction but feel that the team is under-performing given the talent currently on the roster, why not wait until the Dwight Howard thing wraps up before making a judgement. Fire Avery and replace him with Carliesemo and nothing will change until the Dwightmare plays itself out in full, regardless. Firing the coach is such an easy thing to do and frequently is a sign of laziness by management. They can’t acquire good talent, so they use the coach as a fall guy. It’s lazy and is the epitome of CYA.
Also, if Deron wanted Avery fired, all he would need to do is give the word.
Finally, there already is a fireavery.com.

And I'm fine with that. One of the original leaders of the "Dwight Howard, not Nono Hilario" movement.
Wow
really? This is going too far. His players are not producing.

Lol, forget that! What would you want AJ to do? Miracles?
We have a team full of fillers with just ione year left in their contract, they know they will not be here next season. The majority od the players never played together in a season where they hadn’t any time to know each other and build some chemistry. We are without Lopez our best and only offensive weapon in the past seasons. We had some injuries through this first games.
Plenty of reasons why we are not a good team right now.
2012 Lineup: D-Will - Brooks - AK47 - Lopez - D12... Book it!
Can't fire him anytime soon
even though he sucks. last thing the franchise needs now is extra instability

I'm confused
You’re wasting time and potentially even money to create a website about firing Avery Johnson, but you need people to tell you reasons why to fire Avery? I wouldn’t spend my time creating a website if I could not already write volumes on the subject.
Sorry bro
your not going to be getting any help here. Try after a game thread when we lose. I see no point in wasting money and time into it tho

Phil Jackson and Doc Rivers together
can’t fix this mess.
This is ridiculous
wait till he has the final product before passing judgement. Phil jackson or Pat riley couldn’t win with this.

Different Era of basketball
You take that same team and put them in the NBA today and it would be a completely different story.
No coach would be able to have an above .500 record with this current Nets team.
Um, so what?
Riley adapted to his situation. You know, like smart coaches do. They find a way to make the team work better.

Wait let me get this right...
We have a roster with 1 top 15 player, a rookie who has shown flashes of all star potential in a few years, and 10 other players that would be anywhere between the 7th and 12 man on a roster for any average team in the league…and you’re blaming the coach?
When you don’t have talent, you don’t have talent. Ball don’t lie dude.
To be honest, our offense is fine. We’re getting good looks, we just can’t hit the broad side of a barn some nights. This causes Deron to start forcing the issue and everything goes to hell. We live and die by the 3-ball. If we’re on, we’re usually in the game. When we’re not (which is most games), it’s no wonder we’re losing.
Only (literally only issue) I have right now with this roster is our defensive rotations inside the paint. We have no legitimate starting big man (yes that means Hump) that can at least cause teams think when we’re on offense. Because of this, we overcompensate on penetration and can’t get back to our spots when teams kick the ball out which leads to wide open jumpers. We allow opponents to get to WHATEVER spot they want. When that happens, you lose games.
But a coach can only do so much when the Talent isn’t there. Brook, not that he’s an elite defender, is at least respected.
I guarantee if Brook was healthy, we’d have 2-4 more wins. We are the easiest team to game plan against right now is more of the problem than Avery’s coaching ability.
What’s funny is Doc Rivers was in the same boat before they traded for Ray and KG. He had Pierce, a potential all star in Al Jeff then role players. Guess what…the team sucked. You put legit players on the court that offseason and all of a sudden Doc Rivers is the greatest coach on the east coast. How does that happen?
I’m not ripping Doc here but I’m just saying this: You need talent to be a good coach.

This is just wrong-- nothing is Avery's fault
The worst defense in the league? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.
Lack of an offensive scheme? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.
Players get worse when they come here (except Hump)? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.
Avery plays Petro and Outlaw and Graham? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.
Avery gets us to sign Petro and Outlaw and Graham? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.
Avery converts DWill to a SG? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.
We get blown out worse than when we were 12-70? Not Avery’s fault. We have bad players.

Avery is a good coach
Our struggles have to do with the fact we have a horrible team because we went all in on Dwight. We cleared cap, gained assets, didn’t sign talent. Why? Because apparently there is a big picture that has yet to be painted. I will trust the front office till they fail. If they fail then fire Billy King, not Avery Johnson. There’s only so much you can do to win and without a decent team that’s nearly impossible. The man is coaching a horrible team…. you can’t fault him for that.
This season he has screwed up only one time. When we got the technical for Marshon calling a time out when we were out of time outs. That was Avery’s only mistake. He should have told the players in the last time out that, that was the last one and not to use another one or it would be a technical. Other than that he has done a great job on and off the court.
Avery’s NOT going anywhere. The ONLY ways that happens is if D-Will and/or Dwight want him out and I don’t see that happening. This team needs players and Avery’s not in charge of that. If Billy gets fired, I can see the new GM bringing in his own guy. That’s the other way Avery gets fired. I don’t see that happening either. Billy’s avoided making ‘desperate’ moves (like giving Outlol a contract like that). If we can’t lure the big fish here by free agency, we need to either make the necessary trades to get them here or keep the cap space.

Wow! A lot of people love Avery.
I don’t think that guy has made one right decision or said one inspiring thing since he came here.
He is terrific at making great players mediocre and mediocre players terrible.
I think the only player sad to see him go would be Hump. Everyone else would become instantly better.

Avery never liked Hump. Avery tried every other PF at his disposal before reluctantly playing Hump last year.

Well before last season have you seen Hump ever playing, like he played and is playing?
I don’t think so AJ, turned him into a better player.

Don't you love how their argument is
that coaching doesn’t matter? And yet here they are, arguing that Avery should be kept on.
