DeShawn - "The Ultimate Pro"
High praise from the Mavs Rick Carlisle for DeShawn Stevenson. "So, I guess I’d call him the ultimate pro. And I can’t think of a higher compliment for a player. … "He’s very consistent and he brings a real strong presence to the locker room."
Andy Vasquez heard much the same thing from those who've played with Stevenson in Dallas ("He’s a great teammate," said Shawn Marion) and are learning from him in New Jersey ("I just try to listen to guys that have been around, like DeShawn," said MarShon Brooks).
And lest anyone forget what he can do, it was Stevenson who slowed LeBron James to a crawl in the Finals and hit three three-pointers help seal the title in Game 6.

Biggest difference between this Nets team and that 12 win team
For all the Nets’ struggles this season — and there have been many, in every facet of the game — they never have carried themselves like a frustrated or dysfunctional team.
Marshon is frustrated just like CDR at losing, but he isn’t creating friction in the team. No in team rifts like TWill/CDR and Dooling. They’re still losing but at least no one hates each other
I wish Stevenson would call out Farmar
for not ever passing to Marshon, ever.

farmar is feeling dejavu
Kobe was the main scorer while Farmar hit the open jumper. Farmar had an opportunity with the Nets to be THE guy even if off the bench. Now Marshon is the main scorer and Farmar knows he wont get the ball back

If only someone had a video of that game, where Farmar completely hates on MarShon for not passing the ball to him, turns around to the bench, and throws up his arms like “WHAT THE HELL?”

Definitely a problem.
But the whole team is having trouble meshing with Brooks so far. He is definitely a big talent but you can tell the guys are frustrated with his mistakes.
Not to let Farmar off the hook, he’s had his fair share of ups and downs as a Net.
I dont think it has anything to do with Brooks
its just the way Farmar plays.

The last game was the best example of this
MarShon was the only reason we held on to life in the 3rd quarter. He had 13 of the team’s 23 points in the quarter, and was hitting impossible shots at an impressive rate. He then proceeded to go 1-2 in the 4th, despite playing for 10 of the last 12 minutes. Never saw the ball.
inexcusable
how has no one in the media or coaching staff called Farmar (and Deron) out on this? I don’t care if he’s only a rookie, if someone scores 13 points in the 3rd you don’t suddenly stop giving him the ball in the 4th.

Boozer
having Boozer commanded enough attention that DWill was able freely move around on the perimeter to find an open lane…once he found it…it opened up the whole offense for him or anyone who was open.
This, to me is the difference between DWill and CP3…and others have mentioned it already but it looks like what we’ve learned from DWill this season so far is he needs to have that low post presence to be truly effective.
I was beginning to wonder if Dwight would truly make us serious playoff threat with just him and DWill and a bunch of scrubs…but I’m almost convinced now that DWill’s game would even be better than it was in UTah with DWight. We’d have Brooklyn’s version of lob city…considering Hump can get up there too for alley-oops.

2 - A. Morrow / M. Brooks
3 - D. Stevenson / S. Williams / D.James
4 - K. Humphries / S. Williams / J. Williams / D. Horner
5 - M. Okur / J. Petro / B. Lopez
I must admit I was a little surprised when I read his recent comments about mentoring MarShon. I was under the impression he had a bit of a bad reputation so he didn't strike me as this type of dude.
I have nothing but respect for the man now. A lot of veterans around the league should stop and take note

well common sense tells me anybody in the NBA had to work hard to get there
and were mostly gym rats and jocks in HS, and Deshawn went straight to the NBA. The guy grew up in a farm town. Just like most rappers who claim to be bloods, I tend to not really believe any NBA guys are active gang members because it doesn’t really make sense, lmao.
A generation later, DeShawn impressed scouts at the same school where his father had played, in this tiny unincorporated farm town south of Fresno. On July 14, he signed a three-year deal with the Utah Jazz worth up to $2.67 million.

fwiw: realgm shooting down sheridan's report (lol)
A report from Chris Sheridan on Monday indicated that Dwight Howard has expanded his list of teams to include the Clippers.
But RealGM’s Jarrod Rudolph has been told that Howard’s interest in the Clippers is false. The trio of teams initially reported, the Nets, Lakers and Mavericks, have not changed, according to Rudolph.
Howard will let the Magic play out trade scenarios and won’t push the situation one way or another. Howard’s objective is to concentrate on playing basketball.

The only people he thanked where the people who motivated him and he said it was those people who made him become who he became. If you put MJ on a team with 11 d-leaguers, he would still go out there thinking he would win, and if he couldnt win he would just work his butt off till he did win. He would take it personally and use it to his advantage if someone told him that he needed help, and cant win on his own.
