Is this really what the NBA has become?

Hey guys. I am a frequent visitor to this site and this is my first fan post. Just a brief background on myself as a Nets fan growing up I enjoyed attending games at Continental Airlines with my father. I loved watching Kerry Kittles, Keith Van Horn and even Marbury when he was here. I still follow the team and to this day that 2002 Eastern Conference Chamipion team is by far the most entertaining team I have ever watched. What I loved most about that team is the one superstar LEADING a bunch of role players to be champions.

Thus far in this young season Deron Williams has not lead this team and it is embarrassing as is this whole Dwight Howard fiasco. First off I completely understand this is a new situation for DWill. He has been a winner pretty much his entire career. I admit when I heard we acquired him I immediately had those championship years coming to mind knowing how good a pg Deron has been. Right now though there is no excuse for the way he is acting. He looks sluggish on the floor and has played really one complete game this season. Unless there is a set play for him to move without the ball he just stands on the permimeter watching whoever has the ball. Yesterday in the fourth quarter Randy Foye had a breakaway layup and DWill stopped hustling and let him get the points. That is not how a leader plays.

And now for another "leader" in this league, Mr. Dwight Howard. Yesterday he now added the Clippers to his trade list. I gess its because well they look pretty damn good with CP3 and Blake Griffin. What is to stop him from adding more teams to the list? You know Dwight Boston and Oklahoma City also are pretty solid teams add them on too. After that go ahead and add the Knicks and Heat. While he is watching other teams like the Nets he is neglecting his duties in Orlando. On First Take the other day Stephen A. proclaimed, "Watch out for Dwight Howard once he is happy." Meanwhile his Orlando team is off to a pretty good start yet that doesn't stop him from being selfish and a poor excuse of a leader. Hey Dwight look over in Los Angeles how Andrew Bynum has responded to these trade rumors.

Is this what the NBA has become? Superstars who are unhappy on their respected teams will cry and pout oh I want a bigger market or oh I hate losing. They should shut up and do their job. Lead the team you are on and play this game to the best of your ability. When I saw the Miami Heat assemble the big three I knew this would be bad for the NBA as now all of the spoiled little boys want to play with one another or else they will whine and pout. Thank you to both Deron Williams and Dwight Howard for this lost season of Nets basketball. Billy King build this team the right way. Hang onto the picks and lets see guys like Lopez and Brooks continue to develop. If Deron walks to form a super team then so be it. I really think he has the ability to do what Kidd did here but it is all up to him.

Amen

Exactly what I’ve been wanting to say. Deron’s idol is Jason Kidd. Jason Kidd took the Nets to the finals twice without a billionaire owner, without whining about losing, without demands for another star. He made his teammates into stars, he made this franchise into a championship contender, he made me a Net fan forever despite everything that’s happened since.

Today’s players are spoiled brats much like everyone else in our country who makes a lot of money.

Look at the special treatment the NBA’s most popular young player received yesterday afternoon against our squad.

They make tons of money, they get favorable calls from the refs, they blatantly travel and 4 refs ignore it.

Yes, this is what it has become

Some still don’t realize how much of an effect “The Decision” had on the future of the NBA. Eventually I think contraction might become reality, if the not so good teams continue to lose star/franchise players. This is also one reason why I always treasured the stars drafted in the 90’s.

NOT SO FAST

while some of these guys may be whiners, what really causes the drama is the team not wanting the player to leave without compensation. Most of them are not whining about wanting to be traded, what they are doing is telling the team ahead of time that they do not plan to resign as a free agent and you may want to get something for me before than. As an owner I appreciate that information that way I don’t get left in the street, like Cleveland did. Why do players have to stay with the same team if they don’t like it there. Again, this is not slavery it is a job market. As long as they fulfill their contract, they have a right to go to whatever team they want, and if they give their current employer prior notice, that is honorable. that way the respective team can plan accordingly.

Love the post

Sadly this is what the NBA has become. I think Deron’s reactions and play is reason enough to believe he knows Dwight is coming to Brooklyn. Deron seems like he isn’t even trying. I think they have the mentality of, “we’ll be better next season when Dwight is here.”

Those are scrub players

If there not, then there are a lot of players in the NBA, that have had good, great, and HOF careers.
