Magic CEO: Good Dialogue with D12

Dwight Howard said a week ago that there's been "no change" in his trade request, something Otis Smith agrees is the case, but that isn't stopping the Magic from trying to make him want to stay.

In an interview with Darren Rovell on his NBC Sports' "Sports Biz", Magic CEO Alex Martin said, "We have had a really good dialogue with Dwight about what we need to do to make that last step...winning a championship."

Martin, whose predecessor lost his job after "drunk-dialing" Howard at 1:30 a.m., noted that in the past four years the Magic have the third best record in the NBA, but unlike the other two teams, the Lakers and Celtics, the Magic have not won a championship.

What do you expect him to say?

“There is no way we are keeping Dwight I don’t know what I am gonna do, we are screwed.”

"It's as sweet as it ever was, I'll tell you. Now, hopefully, we started something and we can win some more championships, but we're going to enjoy this one right now. Have a little champagne." --Julius Erving, May 12, 1976, ABA champion Nets locker room.

They will try to make some sort of move.

But in the end Dwight will still be saying trade me to the Nets.

I think it's fine.

magic ownership is pathetic. i still can’t believe he drunk dialed howard. At least the nets took a hint when kidd wanted out and it was a lot less awkward than this is now.

He would only get a 4 years contract right?

That's...

…how it usually starts. But I’m ready to TiVo any show where Dwight will show up in a smart shirt and mentions “taking talents”. Just in case.
