Deron Williams' Ankle Is "No Issue"

PrintThe Nets didn't practice Thursday. It was not a reward, just a concession to the schedule...and injuries. They will play Friday vs. the Suns, Saturday vs. the Jazz, then early Monday afternoon vs. the Clippers, all of them on the road.
Still, there was an injury report (and considering the injuries to Al Horford and Kwame Brown, we should feel blessed.) Damion James will be out at least vs. the Suns; DeShawn Stevenson is questionable, but he says he'll play. As for Deron Williams who twisted his ankle in the fourth quarter it's a non-issue and he will be on the court Friday.

Trolling is saying for 5 games straight that DWill is terrible, has attitude problems and has checked out. Have you looked at his numbers? His scoring % is much lower than it should but then again he’s trapped and/or double teamed at every opportunity. I even saw someone post a trade deron after the game he scored like 24 with 10+ assists. THAT is trolling. If you have actually watched every game you’ll notice that he drives/slashes to the basket more specifically because his shot is off and why is it off? Because teams know they can trap him and he has no big man that is effective to pass to.
As for the team sucking? Some of it does need to be discussed. IE. D-E-F-E-N-S-E.
Every net game is a positive and negative so far: I’ll use the last game as an example:
scored 20 3 pointers in one game. yet we still lose.
shot 50+ percent from the field…yet we lose
shot 45+ percent from 3 point field, yet we still lose.
scored 115 points highest this season, yet we still lose.
You ever check the Nets roster ?
Who is a starting caliber, playoff contending, NBA player on this team beside Deron ?
Hump ? Maybe ?
Brooks is just a rookie.
The Nets are very thin especially without Lopez and it shows.
Deron has nobody to work with right now. This is the NBA…not some Turkish League.
Defense
The sad part is we’re not good at interior and we’re terrible at perimeter defense. I mean teams are shooting better FG% from the 3 point line on us than a standard FG. NOT to mention, if you’re going to be a team that has to foul (every time the opposing team touches the ball) at the very least foul hard enough to send a message and/or so they don’t get a 3 point opportunity.
How many times have I seen the nets foul AFTER the shot is already off and on it’s way in. I mean come on. And for the love of god, please defend the back door and/or base line. How hard is that with 3 nets jersey’s around the low post?

He has been a solid defensive center the last 4 years. Did it well enough to land a starting job with the Warriors and actually built a rapport with Monta before he got hurt.

I agree with what you said, just saying that being positive right now is rough. Not so much because of the team’s performance but more so on the “fans” posting recently. I want to reiterate my thought:
If you thought this team is hard to watch now, go ahead and trade Dwill and see what happens to this franchise in the next 3-5 or even 10 years. He is our Messiah. Basically our last chance at redemption (which precludes dwight howard)
Clippers redeemed themselves through drafting and rebuilding. It also took them 10+ years to do it.
On the positive outlook:
We’ve improved every game as a team so far (although defensively we’ve taken a step back, not sure if that’s because our offense takes too much energy or the teams we’ve been playing have scouted our D and picked us apart).

They also spent a large portion of the summer playing together at UCLA
When I was in LA over the summer, I heard about the NBA players playing at UCLA and headed over there to watch. Most of the Sixers roster (minus Thad) played along with some other guys like Derrick Williams, J.R. Smith, David Lee, and Tyler Honeycutt. They seemed like they had great chemistry and got along really well in my time watching them play out west.

Also, Bynum has settled down to being a 17 and 14 sidekick for Kobe. That’s nothing to sneeze at and granted that Dwight isn’t too far ahead with 18 and 14, but at least Bynum didn’t turn into a 22 and 15 monster that would’ve gotten LA Howard for sure. Bynum could even level off at 17 and 11-12 based on his career numbers. Not bad but not super either.
Can’t wait for Lopez to be back and be at least be a 22 and 8 player (or better), with DWill alongside him, to get a shot at Howard at the trade deadline.

i loved the dudes game and he was plagued by injuries the last 2 years. you never heard him whine at all and he was on some terrible nets squads after his all star season.

I wasn't expecting him to be a star
but he was a pleasant surprise. But his number were slightly better than a old Carter and Harris was #1 option.

one thing i used to hate is when they were running normal man defense

Haha yep, I also remember Amar'e getting ejected down the stretch.
This game was right after we beat the Jazz in Utah (which was unheard of then)… Harris dropped 34 in that game. I think this was part of a 3-1 West Coast road trip, something we Nets fans rarely see.

Yeah, but that strength is one heck of a strength.
Couple things.
1) Dwight listed him as one of six or seven players he’d like as teammates.
2) Think about the open looks he’d be getting with Deron and Dwight on the team. I’d rather have a sharpshooter like Ammo than OJ Mayo getting those open looks.
3) I am not a fan of losing both Brooks and Ammo at all.

O.J. Mayo is a great pick up for us, someone who can legit score along with Marshon and Dwill
