In Utah, Countdown to D-Will Return

The Nets play the Jazz on Saturday night. As much as players will try to portray it as just another game it isn't. It will be Deron Williams' first game back in Utah since he was traded last February. It's a particularly big deal in Salt Lake City because the Jazz is doing so much better than the Nets.

But the return may not be as bitter as Vince Carter's to Toronto, although we have to hope it's that dramatic.

Ty Corbin was an assistant coach until Jerry Sloan resigned days before the Williams trade. In an interview, the head coach of the 5-3 Jazz speaks about how Williams just wanted to win and that he never relented in that desire.

While Williams leads the Nets in average points (17.3), assists (6.9) and steals (1.6), a rebuilding New Jersey team has gone just 9-25 since he arrived and has started 2-7 this season.

This one is really Disrespectful by any means

The Nets won't contend for the next 5 years either

Even if Howard does sign, there is so little talent outside Williams and Howard, that the Nets will just be a middle of the pack team

by a hay on Jan 10, 2012 2:53 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah I doubt that.

Those two together alone and these players that are sucking right now would be in their proper roles and not overextending themselves.

We wouldn’t be the favorites, but we would be legitimate contenders right in that mix with a very real shot at the title each and every year.

Williams and Howard on the same team changes everything

Suddenly the floor is spread out x10 with Howard getting doubled which leaves Williams with more space and all our shooters more space. Morrow and Shawne Williams would thrive with Howard on the roster even Brooks would get even better.

How could you not contend witha top 3 and top 10 player on the one team?

The problem with proky, king and Avery strategy is we’re trying to be the Knicks instead of the mavs. They prefer building around 2 stars, the mavs built around 1 and it was tough but still won it all. Why can’t we just do it that way, we are very lucky to have a star and all we had to do is get a nene or chandler and someone for the 2/3. Now I’m not trying to say use all cap space this yr but find the guy who deserves to be part of the puzzle and continue adding from there.
So to me the way proky and billy want to build this team is the wrong way, its not like we wouldn’t sell out in Brooklyn if we just had dwill, as long as we would wins games. Having a star and building the puzzle the right way would win games not this way

Dallas "model"

The Dallas model isn’t one you want to follow. The Nets are trying the Heat model, and if it fails…it’ll be the OKC model.

Heat model is the most surefire way to win but basically requires collusion

OKC model took a loooooot of luck and a lot of losing.

of course the ping pong balls could have fell differently but they could have also ended up with Oden, Yi, Mayo, and Thabeet instead of Durant, Green, Westbrook, and Harden

That’s what the lockout and Olympics are for. Dwight/Love/Deron all best friends, the Olympic affect is true and real. LBJ/Wade/Bosh and Amare/CP3/Melo.

Dallas is an awful model to follow if your goal is to contend yearly and hope to win titles.

It took Dirk 10 years, failure upon failure and one of the most dominant playoff runs since MJ to win a title.

Dallas isn’t the rule, they are the exception.

by vincecarter4pres on Jan 10, 2012 12:36 AM EST up reply actions

The magic got to the finals with just Dwight and if Otis just added to that core they would have won something, and I understand the eastern conference is way different from then to now but just saying if you do your homework and find the right pieces of the puzzle to add with your star, you can get to the goal

by Nets4Life(8) on Jan 10, 2012 12:40 AM EST up reply actions

Nets aren't trying to emulate the Knicks

If that was the case, they’d bring in a top player who doesn’t complement Deron and doesn’t play D. The plan is to bring in a guy who does the exact opposite of that actually.

We'll Be Fine.

by JerseysFinest. on Jan 10, 2012 12:39 AM EST up reply actions

of course there trying to be like the Knicks
The nets are moving to Brooklyn and they see how the Knicks are winning, getting attention, so to proky billy it’s why not go to Brooklyn with dwill and Howard. We can get there with just dwill and find other good pieces but no, it’s better to be Dwight or bust mode

by Nets4Life(8) on Jan 10, 2012 12:44 AM EST up reply actions

Nets aren't moving to Brooklyn because of the Knicks

and is Dwight or bust a bad thing? It is no way a guarantee Deron remains a Net if the Nets fail to bring in another superstar player to help him. He sees whats going on, he knows he can’t compete with Miami and New York with the Nenes and Tayshaun Princes of the world. This is a very shrewd plan, and I hope it works out for the team. They’ve done a good job so far

Dallas model is terrible and only worked under the old CBA because of the lenient spending laws

and it always takes luck. They traded Tractor Traylor for Dirk and were able to get Nash for scraps.

Cuban wasted so much money on bad players but Nash, Finley, and Dirk were able to cover that up for the most part

Nets are in no position to hand out Najera, Lafrentz, Dampier, Diop deals left and right.

And why build around one star when you can build around two?

I understand your point of view, but Dwight wants to come here remember. Billy and the Nets did the right thing and are welcoming him with open arms as best they can… by preserving cap space to sign him outright this summer.

by thermodynamic on Jan 10, 2012 12:25 AM EST reply actions

not the point

When Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce in Boston, the Celtics became attractive to Kevin Garnett.

When Dwyane Wade agreed to stay in Miami, it helped attract LeBron James which in turn attracted Chris Bosh.

Signing Amare Stoudemire helped persuade Carmelo Anthony to join the Knicks. Then, Tyson Chandler, not quite on their level, signed.

There were other factors but those are the facts.

What died though?

Macs are usually better built, get great batter life and are bulletproof online and if you prefer the operating system then there you go.

But good brands of laptops, especially expensive models from good brands should last a long time.

You might get riddled with viruses from time to time, especially depending on the sites you’re on, if you keep your virus and spyware/malware software up to date, run scans and for performance disk defrag, clear registry’s and such, but as long as you back your stuff up you just have to blow it out and reinstall everything.

You can partition and run right off that, although if viruses have attacked those files you have to boot from disk.

Yes it can be inconvenient and make you want to kick puppies if you didn’t have info, files, pics, music, vids, etc., backed up, but hardware failures usually take a lot longer.

Give it a few more years, Macs will likely start getting hit with a lot more viruses as well.

Hackers have stayed away from them for so long mainly because it’s still based off a free source system, but the more commercial Apple gets, the bigger the temptation is for these guys to write and release viruses that will attack the Mac platform.

Apples are really nice, but a lot of times PC’s get a much worse rap then they deserve.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of HP’s.

But hey, if you can or want to afford a new Apple or even don’t mind having slightly “dated” technology, really in the form of an older gen processor, you can find some really nice refurbed Macs online with the memory and hard drive upgrades at very reasonable prices.

You also get what you pay for

there are no cheap Mac’s so there suppose to be good. But you can get laptops from any other brand from $450+

That too.

If you spend $1200, even $14 or $1500 on a Dell the machine is going to be a beast.

Sure the PC will always be more susceptible to virus, I understand that, but the quality of the build will be similar or equal and the actual features will be nearly double a Mac that cost $500 to even $1000 more.

Of course then there’s stuff like Asus Transform or add on keyboards for the Ipad, but then what’s really the point?

I guess all the apps, but most of that stuff you can get on a laptop in some form as well.

I might get a tablet one of these days, but I don’t know if it could ever replace a laptop.

I have enough confidence in Dwight signing with BK as a free agent

That I hope Orlando doesn’t pull the trigger. They’re being held hostage by their star player, so they in turn want to feel like the hostage taker. We want no part of that Stockholm syndrome though, thanks for the offer

They would definitely trade him by trade deadline unless

he says he would consider signing with them. No question about that. If your theory is right, then our chances are not that good since DH12 wants Magic to trade him to us. Magic may want to send him somewhere else not to appease him.

Dwight saying "trade me to the Nets"

Is more of a statement about where he wants to play, not so much the terms of his exodus. If he has half a mind, Dwight should see the value in simply joining our roster vs. the Nets depleting their roster to trade for him

by Chakroot on Jan 10, 2012 10:47 AM EST up reply actions

Just look at last 10 games

We played Atlanta and Miami 4 times, Pacers once. Apart from that first Atlanta game, we could have won bunch of other game if we had Brook. Right now we are shooting from the perimeter without any inside game. That is a recipe for disaster. Plus Dwill is playing like crap and shooters are not shooting that well. I want to see this team when Brook is back. They will be a much better team.
