My Thoughts.. 1\1\12
I have been taking mental notes on not only on our nets but on the fans here at NetsDaily as well... Here is what I've thought about:
- All of us here have to stop overrating MarShon Brooks. Look I'm not saying he's not awesome, I'm not saying he's going to be awesome, I'm saying we need to stop acting like he's Kobe.. He is no Kobe and I doubt he ever will be. He's a good player and has had an impressive start but we're 4 games in... 4. Maybe if he's doing this nightly and it's March I'll believe he has the talent to be the next Kobe.
- Jordan Farmar's days in a Nets uniform are numbered. I think this is a pretty obvious one but I've been thinking about some scenarios to get rid of him. What about Farmar, James and 1st rounder for Trevor Ariza? Morrow, Farmar two 1sts for Millsap? I don't know if you have any ideas comment.
- We're not a playoff team. Plain and simple. With the roster built as it is now... I don't think we're a playoff team. We may compete for the 8th seed although as long as Damion James is starting and we don't have Brook Lopez we're not a playoff team. We need to trade for a capable 3 if we're making the playoffs. Hence, I mentioned a deal for Trevor Ariza above.
- It's NOT Dwight or Bust. When we have Brook Lopez healthy, if we can trade for a capable 3 and have D-Will healthy that is a playoff team. Thats the first step. Next step would be to trade for another superstar not named Dwight. Josh Smith? Al Jefferson? Gerald Wallace? Danny Granger? Andre Iggy? Not sure but those are all great options.
Let me know what you guys think.

My thoughts on your post
Everyone is just talking about good Marshon Brooks will be because we’re EXCITED about him! That’s all. We don’t have much else to get excited about so we just talk about what we can be excited about, and thats marshon. I don’t see a problem with people calling him the next kobe. You might be getting your hopes too high and getting them let down later, but that doesnt change how good marshon will be, ya know what I mean?
And In my honest opinion, it is Dwight or Bust. Without Dwight, Deron probably leaves. And if he leaves, we’re screwed forever. Trading for Iggy, Granger, or Jefferson still makes us nowhere near a title contender, but Dwight Howard does.

very well said about marshon
but deron is likely to stay dwight or no dwight. we can get a lottery pick and have huge cap space
"Dear Mark - You showed the world not only what a great team you have, but also, that you can remain silent for a period of weeks--I don't know which is more shocking!"
DWill Era- 7-18
Thank you, I appreciate it
But I personally doubt DWill stays without Dwight

Chairman -- "$30+ million worth"
That’s how much he needs to want to go elsewhere before he does it. If he just wants to go elsewhere, oh, say, $10 million worth, that’s not a strong enough reason.
Personally I’d do a lot for $30 Mil – move, wear ugly uniform, go out with a Kardashian. It’s really a lot of money.
Happy New Year Nets fans – Better times comin, and now I can say… Better times comin SOON.
You'd go out with a Kardashian for $30M?
Let’s get real. We’d all do it for free.

Ummmmm the Kardashian married to Lamar Odom looks like a chubby trannie. She probably would win hands down the ugliest wife/girlfriend of a professional athlete. I wouldn’t kiss her for $30m let alone for free.
HAHAHA
Yeah, she’s the one exception I forgot about

If we get Dwight with any of the trades that have been floating around
are we better than Orlando is now? I know DWill is better than Nelson and would be even better with D12 but is it a better team?
i stopped reading when ypu mentioned trading for Ariza with Farmar,James and a first rounder
That’s great from a noh perspective, garbage from a nets, pluss adds salary
Are you kidding me? When Brook Lopez is healthy we’d have a good player at every single position!
Just imagine a lineup like this
Deron
Brooks(Stevenson)
Ariza
Humphries
Lopez
Ariza is exactly the type of guy I’m looking for on this team. He brings athleticism, can shoot pretty well, only question mark is his defense. A lineup like that would put us in the playoffs but still its a better idea we just find the safest way to ensure cap space with a trade getting rid of Farmar/Petro/Morrow/ and next year sign a SF as well as Dwight. No need to trade Lopez, he’s coming here. I heard Wilson Chandler can come back next year, so if Kirilenko can’t come next year because he’s still playing over there in Russia then he’s not a bad option.

I don't see whats so enticing about Trevor Ariza

Ariza like Nets12-70 mentioned...
He’s a good shooter, he’s athletic and is actually a very underrated defender. Honestly he’s capable of 14-5-2 a game as well as some pretty good defense.
Sure as hell beats Damion James. And the pick is the lottery protected rockets pick

i'm not trying to hate on this
but i think epople are just having fun with the whole marshon brooks thing
A couple of quick comments:
-MarShon is already the best wing the Nets have drafted since Kerry Kittles. Period. Okay, they didn’t draft him-the Celtics did-but I prefer to count him and not least year’s Jordan Crawford. He’s better than RJ at this point in their careers; RJ rand the break and was great in transition, but couldn’t shoot as a rookie. I think that the love for MarShon is in large part a realization that the Nets finally drafted an NBA-ready player.
—Stop giving away our draft picks! Why does every proposed trade have to involve surrendering one or two firsts? It isn’t worth it!
—I have NO PROBLEM with the Nets’ depth at SF. Every team has to have one starter who is the #5 option on offense; that player has to contribute in other ways. For the Nets, that will be the SF. I’m okay with James and Stevenson and Shawne Williams there; I think they have the potential to play decent defense, grab some rebounds, get some steals, and generally hustle. James shouldn’t take more than 5-7 shots per game.
—Once Brook returns, I see the team this way: (1) An above-average rotation on the front-line (Brook, Okur, Humphries, maybe Jordan Williams? Maybe a little weak in depth at PF, but overall an above-average group. (2) A top-five group of PGs (Deron plus anyone). (3) Decent role-playing SFs as described above. The only thing keeping this from being a playoff team is production from the SGs, which is a huge unknown on this team, but if MarShon can start and score 15 PPG, it’s a playoff team in my view.
Happy new year!

You can't seriously say something like that about Marshon after FOUR games.
FOUR! your other points are valid although is Deshawn big enough to play the 3? If so I’d like to have him start. I like his game

Maybe you need to look at the other wings the Nets have drafted over the past 15 years. Antoine Wright? Hassan Adams? Tamar Slay? Terrence Williams? CDR? Zoran Planinic? Which of those are better? CDR looked like he could shoot for awhile before he burned all his bridges, but none of the others could shoot like MarShon. Not sure whether to count Anthony Parker and Kyle Korver since they didn’t play with the team. That’s pretty much the entire population.

I was thinking we should trade
Petro and Farmar for Martell Webster. We save 2 milion in cap space, and we get a guy that can start for now. But in the future can be a good back up while James is still developing. Brings athleticism which is the main thing we lack at the sf, just don’t have any people that can go inside and score. Deron and Gaines won’t cut it.

seriously
why be obnoxious because I’m optimistic?
by Super Nova Is My Hero on Jan 1, 2012 5:58 PM EST up reply actions
you mean like the other optimistic people talking good about Marshon?
Because that called being hypocritical
I'm not saying Marshon isn't good
but its being ridiculous saying he’s Kobe after 4 games.
