Yormark: Arena Can Host NHL, MMA
Brett Yormark echoed Bruce Ratner's recent comments on the NHL (read: Islanders) coming to the Barclays Center and volunteered that if New York ever legalizes Mixed Martial Arts, he's ready for that, too.
"Let me just say that we can convert it to a hockey venue and have a great destination for professional hockey," Yormark told The Big Lead. "And although it is not legalized in New York State, we can handle MMA when and if it is legalized."
Yormark also spoke about arena retail space and let TBL hint that "an international athletic footwear company would open its first U.S. retail store at Barclays Center." (Two Chinese companies, PEAK, a long time Nets sponsor, and Li Ning, are about to launch in the U.S.)
As for the Nets, Yormark spoke about having some part of the arena set aside for a heritage display and noted that the team continues to push a globalization agenda, starting with Russia. "We look at ourselves as the home team in Russia."

It would be AWESOME to have a heritage display
As the interviewer says we have had some amazing players wear our jersey and having a museum type area would make me that much prouder to call myself a NETS FAN.

Music to my ears
“Let me just say that we can convert it to a hockey venue and have a great destination for professional hockey…”
The more options the Islanders have the better

Is there a sport out there that Barclays cannot host?
In the coming weeks, no doubt we’ll hear that Barclays will be able to be modified to host NASCAR, jai alai, mud wrestling, buzkashi, whitewater kayaking, Premier League soccer/football, hipster kickball, cheese rolling—you name it. And no doubt Greg Norman is designing a championship hole that can be set up overnight.
And
‘Anything Good You Can Find In This Country, You Can Find In Brooklyn’– well, not In-N-Out burger. Attracting a Chinese sportswear company, that’s something, but getting In-N-Out in NYC? Now that would be a feat.
I don't know about Li-Ning
But a lot of different players, Including Sasha Vujacic and I am pretty sure Jason Kidd, are currently signed with Peak shoes.
They are a chinese company, with a lot of great designs. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was them, either.

Yeah, Definitely Kidd.

Baron Davis has a signature sneaker with Li-Ning
and I actually purchased one of the first pairs made available to the U.S., with only about 150 pairs available. To be honest, they were actually the best sneakers I have ever worn for basketball purposes.
I think it's fine.

MMA at the Barc
I would LOVE to see the UFC at the Barclays Center. Although they will hit MSG before hitting Brooklyn, no reason once MMA is legal in NY they can’t do two live shows a year in this market.
Here’s to Jon Bones Jones @ the Barclays Center
-Say man when I was growing up we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub.
He said professional hockey
But didn’t specify “NHL”. Is it just a matter of semantics or does he not want to get hopes up too high for Islander fans so he’s making sure to word things in a certain way?
New collective bargaining agreement is simple. Give small markets a larger share of the national tv revenue sharing pie, limit MLE's to teams under the lux tax threshold, allow owners to terminate one deal every other year provided players have played at least 3 years on it and limit raises to 5 and 10%
