Yormark: "Brooklyn Nets" Has Been Assumed Name For Some Time
In an interview with The Big Lead, Brett Yormark reiterated that "Brooklyn Nets" remains the "working title" of the team once it moves to the Barclays Center.
He added, "for many people, this has been the assumed name, and the name Bruce Ratner has used for years".
There is, of course, little doubt that the Brooklyn Nets will be the name, with the team securing the rights to brooklynnets.com earlier this year and long ago trademarking "Brooklyn Nets". Moreover, every rendering of the new arena' s interior shows "Brookyn Nets" emblazoned on the court. There will be an official announcement "at some point."
Yormark added that the Nets will roll out a national branding campaign in February, will announce the final three sponsorships for the arena and said the team will be pursuing "big events" in early 2014: the NBA All-Star Game and ancillary events associated with Super Bowl XLVIII, to be held at the MetLife Stadium.

The Name
The franchise has done everything to separate itself from the sordid past. Leaving the meadowlands, eventually leaving NJ, new owner, all new staff and an (almost) completely new roster. I think that’s enough for me.
The team name will always be associated with the franchise history, the good and the bad. I was an expos fan for a long time before they moved to DC, but in changing the team name, they basically cut ALL ties with the previous organization. I expect the Nets to want to retain jersey fans as well as acquire a new fanbase in NY, but please, keep the name. Keep the Nets
Brooklyn Nets is a perfect name.
@Al_Iannazzone: BREAKING NEWS: Nets are close to acquiring Deron WIlliams from Utah, sources told The Record.

Eh it's not perfect
Simply because phonetically it says “Brooklynettes”, like a female dance troop.
Just on phonetics, Brooklyn Knights works well because it’s “Brooklynites”.
But whatevz. I’m glad it’s the Nets.

Yeah I kinda agree
Phonetically it ain’t great, but I’m glad they’re keeping the name Nets. If they were to change the team name on top of everything else that’s been done, I’m not sure I would continue to support them.

Hard for me to complain
Considering I have the Loud and Proud group… haha

Yeah, let's get that name changed before the Nets change theirs
i love the idea, and nothing but respect to you for setting that up.
Whenever I stop and try to think of a better name, I fail epically though
All-star weekend in Brooklyn to feature:
Dwights return to the dunk contest,
Deron owning the skills challenge,
Ammo lighting up the 3-point contest.
Oh yeah, and melo will be snubbed from the all-star team while amare is forced to sit out due to recurring knee problems

in 2014?
he’d be in his third year, unless you’re assuming this season isn’t happening
