Globalization This Week
Deron Williams arrived in Istanbul this week and Sundiata Gaines signed with B.C. Armia of Georgia (whose sponsor is the Georgian Army), but that wasn't (officially) part of the Nets globalization agenda ...although it can't hurt to have six Nets in four countries. The big event on the official globalization agenda this week was the Moscow charity game featuring Mikhail Prokhorov, Avery Johnson, Popeye Jones and a lot of Russians.
How'd that work out? In addition to getting a lot of coverage in Russia for donating millions of rubles to the victims of a cruise ship sinking, video highlights and a photo gallery of the game have also wound up on Chinese National Television in both Chinese and English...presented by an Australian.

Glad they are raising funds, but if I'm reduced to watching "highlights" of that
quality during the NBA season, I’m going to shoot myself.
If Deron has to return to NBA before the Turkish season ends, will Turkish fans continue to root for him after he rejoins the Nets?
Should Kevin Durant team with Deron, that would become a fun team to watch, but I’d rather see Deron struggle a little and be happy when he rejoins the Nets.
I suspect that there will be more Jewish support for Nets in Brooklyn, as a result of Jordan Farmar’s playing in Israel.
Will Gaines’ play in Georgia result in more fans? I doubt it, and the other 3 likely former Nets should have no effect.
I suspect there will be wide support
of the Nets from a number of ethnic and religious communities in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is home to the largest Jewish population in the US and the largest Turkish population.
