D-Will Looks Good in Alumni Game; Little to No Talk of Nets, Turkey
Deron Williams, playing in his first organized basketball game since wrist surgery in April, looked for all the world (including Turkey) like his old self in an Alumni game on the University of Illinois campus. He scored 11 points, grabbed a game high 8 rebounds and passed out a game-high 8 assists. Ex-Net Kendall Gill scored 13.
The big moment however came when he showed off his athleticism. After passing the ball to himself for a two hand slam, which got the 6,000 present rocking...in spite of no air-conditioning.
There little to no talk of the Nets, lockout or Turkey other than he'll be facing off against Demetri McCamey, from this year's Illini, in Turkey. McCamey signed with Mersin.

Deron is pretty strong
One of the things I love about him that make me prefer him to CP3 is his size and how strong he is. I like big, strong PGs like Deron or Baron Davis and JKidd back in the day.
40s
I think like 43 now.

no wristband or headband
also did anyone notice the guy ran on the court with his toddler in hand after the d-will dunk?
also who were these people playing besides dwill, kendall and dee brown. Illinois really doesnt reel in the talent. was derek harper, eddie johnson, or nick anderson there?

Wow... Have times changed.
D-Will plays his first “game” after surgery and he barely breaks 10 comments.
Am I sensing an anti D-Will vibe in the air ?

@darooster8 we are a small but intelligent group of superbeings.
its definitely there
without any long-term commitment on the books, the fans have other players to get excited about. marshon is dropping 48 points, brook is only getting better, we have players to re-sign and free agents to sign…
i think a lot of fans are team-first, because rosters in the NBA have a revolving door policy for the most part. its great that the Nets have Deron Williams, but while he is fighting to play in europe and telling rookies not to help the team’s cause in any way, those team-first fans feel like there is more pressing information to digest and discuss.
while many remain publicly optimistic that deron will remain a Net into the future, all Nets fans have a built-in fail-safe which has already kicked in… we’re coping with the inevitable point in time when deron WON’T be a Net… he’s just not helping his own case (winning fan’s over) at the moment
