Nets Deny Draft Rumor Few Heard

Stay connected for news and updates

Chad Ford wrote Wednesday that the Nets and a representative of Boston College's Reggie Jackson, had denied internet rumors that the 6'3" combo guard had been given a promise by the Celtics or the Nets, that is been told the team would take him if he was still available at their pick.

"Not true according to both the teams and a source close to Jackson," wrote Ford. The last time the Nets made such a promise was in 2003, then they guaranteed Zoran Planinic they'd take him at #22. Rod Thorn regretted the move, saying he wouldn't guarantee anyone again, a policy that prevented him from giving Jimmer Fredette a promise last year when the BYU shooting sensation worked out at PNY Center.  The Nets open individual workouts Thursday.
