"When the ‘NJ’ is discarded off those jerseys, replaced by B, R, O, O, K, L, Y, N or however you're going to do it in the logo, it's going to be a great day for kids and the families of Brooklyn and beyond," said Markowitz.

Touchy Subject

I put this quote up because for some reason it struck a chord with me. Though I am originally Brooklyn, I grew up in Englewood and feel it’s a bit disrespectful for Marty to say this when the team is still based in NJ, I’m just saying. Thoughts?

not really

im from jersey and i know that brooklyn is gonna be great for the team even though i will only attend 1 or 2 games a year

"Dear Mark - You showed the world not only what a great team you have, but also, that you can remain silent for a period of weeks--I don't know which is more shocking!"

Convenience Speaks volumes

The latter part of your post speaks volumes to me at least. The move will effect how many games I go to. Currently I’m a half-season ticket holder. I certainly won’t be able to do that in 2012. Outside of my Nets allegiance, I’m Mets fan. Getting from Jersey to Flushing and back again using mass transit can be an adventure in itself. I count myself lucky if I’m able to make it 5 games a year. I feel that’s the way it’s going to be for me when they move to Brooklyn
Even with Meadowlands it was relatively convenient to get to home games. A quick trip down Rt. 3 East and I was there. The Rock is 10 times better because it opens up more options as far as mass transit goes. I’ve driven, taken the PATH, and Newark Light Rail to games last season all with a relative amount of ease.
Markowitz’s statement isn’t far off in my opinion because New Jersey fans are being discarded for Brooklyn ones. Yes there are some who will make the trip out games, but ultimately the Nets move to Brooklyn makes it more convenient for Brooklyn than it is for Jersey.

Brooklyn is no Flushing in terms of transit

A ton more options, and a much quicker ride to boot

Brooklyn or NJ

Why does it matter, we’re all Net fans. Brooklyn Nets is just more marketable and will be a lot more attractive then NJ Nets. We’re Nets fans not NJ fans.

Could just be for a logo or alternate jersey

doesn’t mean it’ll be the main jersey lettering.

Big Difference

There’s big difference between 11 Miles from the Meadowlands to the Pru Center, than the 13 miles From the Pru Center to the Barclays.

are you kidding?

should say 15 minute ride from Izod to Prudential
to 2hr ride to Barclays. Unless you’ve done it
That’s the truth. Just try leaving your house and instead of going to The Rock leave to go to Barclays. Time it and post the truth.

Politics and Money

Markowitz isn’t any different than Cory Booker. For them it’s not about attendance or fan base. It’s about politics and money. Like I said in a previous post. Booker has seen the revenue that sporting events have brought to Newark. Having a an NBA team only helps that cause. I’m sure Markowitz is thinking the same thing.
