I don't think I would have Reke in my top 5...

Dude is not conducive to winning and is an offcourt problem waiting to happen.

How is Favors #2? he shouldn’t even be on the list. I would take Jordan Crawford over Favors any day.

by say whaaaaat on Jun 16, 2011 8:45 PM EDT up reply actions

And I directed that at say whaaaaaat.

Jordan Crawford over Favors lmao.

Jordan Crawford was terrible, he was just given the green light to chuck-a-luck on a terrible team and scored on mind blowingly vomit inducingly atrocious efficiency, streak shooting none the less.

Dude is absolute garbage, he’ll be out of the league by the end of his rookie contract.

Joekz.

by vincecarter4pres on Jun 18, 2011 3:23 AM EDT up reply actions

He isn't absolute garbage but.

I’d take both of our picks over him any day of the week, and Favors and James will improve (Favors more than James) and will be a force in their own ways.

There is no way that is a picture of Carlos Boozer. It looks like DeRay Davis bald.

Oh and I didn't read the whole post.

Landry Fields over Derrick Favors? Really? I mean, really? Come on, you’re better than that.

You wouldn't take Fields over Favors?

That’s ridiculous. And that’s coming from a guy who HATES the Knicks. There’s no question Fields was the bigger difference maker and has the better basketball IQ to succeed.

What?

You don’t pick players based on what they project to produce in their rookie season. Did Landry Fields have a more impactful year than Derrick Favors? Of course he did. However, going into the draft everybody knew that Favors would be a project; he wasn’t expected to produce at a high level his first couple of seasons, but his ceiling was extremely high.

If you're interested, you can follow me @TokenNBR.

by Dopeness on Jun 16, 2011 10:55 AM EDT up reply actions

But...

After seeing what Favors did in his rookie year, it’s more than fair to admit Fields was the better option. Derrick Favors just doesn’t have that toughness and desire to be great. Fields had shown so much more in his time as a rookie.

Fields was a bucket of suck post Melo trade and epically overrated before it.

Career role player, stats not much better then his pre-Melo trade # wise at peak.

by vincecarter4pres on Jun 18, 2011 3:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Fields hasn no skills

He was playing off of pure hustle, and open spots on the floor

ya you cant pick one guy based on his rookie year

nobody expected much out of Favors yet he showed flashes and Fields tailed off through the year anyway so its more ridiculous to take Fields over Favors

That's why I said things can change...

Fields had a better rookie year than Favors, period. I do believe Favors will be better in a few years though.

I'm just saying none of them have gone anywhere.

If he can average 15+ rebounds again next year I’ll reconsider. But as far as consistency I think Lopez can be a 25-8 guy whereas I’d say Kevin would be a 20-13 guy. I guess it just comes to preference. Talentwise I just think Lopez can be more dominant he just lacks the hustle and drive Kevin possesses.

Then how about Brook? He was never on a winning team lol.

But he has the most polished offense as a center the absolute best at his position offensively so I can only see his numbers going higher especially from all the mishaps last year. He still has yet to miss a game and yet we are really underrating him I’m sure it was just one year for Love and he won’t repeat.

Love is a really nice player, but he isn't even top 20 even with those gawdy, gawdy eye popping stats, both raw and advanced. His team had a ton more talent then any team Brook has been on post rookie year and they were still worst in the league.

I don’t know that Love can improve much on what he did last year given his physical limitations and attitude.

He’s a fringe top 30 player and the league around him is only getting better.

I’m not blaming him directly for his team being so bad or saying he could never be part of a winning team, but to me, Brook is a guy whose numbers will go way up on a winning team, where as Love would have to have a reduced role, numbers and minutes.

As bad as Lopez is at times on D, he looks like Dwight next to Turnstile Kevin.

Eh, maybe not. Maybe he’ll be a like Zach Randolph, but then again, maybe he’ll be like Zach Randolph…

Years upon years of big shiny stats on losing teams and it takes til he’s in his late 20’s for it to click and him to find the right situation?

by vincecarter4pres on Jun 19, 2011 2:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Brook Lopez isnt Top 20 either.....

prob not 30…
ANd you said before that Love cant put up good numbers on a winning team…Then niether would lopez.. If you say that bout love than, Brook might be a 18-3 guy on a winning team…..

If we make the playoffs next year

It’ll be because of D-Will. Brook Lopez got us to where we were before D-Will, and who wants to be there again?

Encouraging

This does make it pretty clear that you can have a pick in the high teens or 20s or 30s or higher and still find a high quality player. I suppose it requires some luck (that no one picking in front of you has sufficient wisdom) as well as ability to see what no one else sees, but it can be done.

No, it proves the exact opposite.

I lost precise count, but I think it was 40 and 20 for top 10 picks to outside the top ten and like 11 of those outside the top 10 were mid teens picks.

That is a whole heck of a lot of photos you compiled, Claud :0)

2010-2011 = acquire an All-Star via cap space as Thorn himself said
2011-2012 = make the playoffs without hindering future flexibility
2012 off-season = sign the second All-Star
2012-2013 = make a run for the championship

Mission accomplished thus far.

I have 3 immediate beefs upon first glance(a very quick one).

1. If you’re going to ignore Roy’s injuries and put him 2nd, Gilbert Arenas needs to be at 2nd overall as well.

2. Landry Fields in the top 5 is a joke, Paul George needs to be in there and I’m taking Monroe over DeMarcus.

3. James Harden should be at 2, Curry at 3 and I might slip Reke out of there completely for Demar DeRozan.

by vincecarter4pres on Jun 18, 2011 3:15 AM EDT reply actions

2. Harden
3. Derozan
4.Tyreke
5.Jrue

They will all be all stars eventually, but Curry plays the least defence of those 4 and I think Jrue’s athleticism puts him above Curry. But we can just agree to disagree. Either way all of those guys are great picks.
