Rooting for Jason Kidd to get his championship ring

Mavs fans have been all over us before about who won in the J-Kidd for Devin Harris trade. Some of them will probably get on us even more if they do finish off the Heat and win a championship. But despite all this, I WANT THE MAVS TO BEAT THE LIVING SNOT OUT OF THE HEAT. Why?

J-Kidd brought some of the best basketball I've ever seen since I fell in love with the game over 25 years ago. The former savior of the Nets deserves his ring. I see no better way to complete his illustrious career than to finish off the 3 clowns that thought they would take over the NBA by joining forces. The fact that Lebron spurned us last summer and having a former Net crush his championship aspirations will make it ever more gratifying.

I'm writing this post to gauge opinion about this. I know some of you had some words for a recent Mavs fan coming here to rant about the Devin Harris trade. But a true Nets fan would want J-Kidd to get this. Should we all be Mavs fans come Sunday night?

Go Kidd!

And it will put to rest the agruments I had that JKidd is better than SNash (for their careers).

JKidd 3 Finals app. (1 ring??)
SNash 0 Finals app.

JKidd Edge: Fast break offense, Defense, Rebounding
SNash Edge: Half court offense, Shooting %s and efficency

I'm probably the only one here that wants to see LeBron win a ring

But I want to see Kidd get his ring this year. LeBron will have many more chances

Agreed

but not this year
This is Kidd’s year (hopefully)

Brook Lopez is the MAN!

Bron is my 2nd fav player, to Kidd. So your opinion is exactly like mine. Kidd is done after this year, Bron has like 12 more years to get it done.

If Kidd was playing any other team then I would be rooting for him.

However, I want LeBron to get ring(s) — and I feel that the hate for him is completely unwarranted — so I’m rooting for the Heat.

I also have a sizable sum of money on the Heat, so that has swayed my rooting interests even further.

I kinda feel this way too

I honestly think he only deserves hate from Cleveland and maybe a few others. He didn’t do anything to anyone else IMO

by Scooby803 on Jun 10, 2011 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions

So if Kidd were playing the Nets in the Finals

you would root for J. Kidd still? Interesting.

WHEN YOU DESCRIBE the prototypical NBA center, he is not complete without superlative size, strength and athleticism. He’ll fight for the tough rebounds in the trenches, but is just as quick to burn you with a shot from 15 feet.

Johan Petro possesses all of these skills and more, and at a mere 23 years of age, he bears all the promise of fulfilling his vast potential.

None of them deserve a ring more than another. They all work just as hard to get there don’t they?

by Scooby803 on Jun 10, 2011 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Amen

How soon we forget? How does any Nets fan root for Lebron in this case?

I'm not sure Nets fans should be rooting for EITHER team.

I know I’m not.

Fire Johnson and hire Brown - I'm telling you Thorn was smoking somethin' when he let Brown slip away in the night.

wow...

All the Hate for Lebron is unwarranted? He is a self absorbed cry baby who tried to get himself a ring by taking a shortcut. He does not deserve to get any rings and I personally hope that he never wins one. Unless of course, he ends up with the Nets and then all is forgiven. :)

I came. I conquered. I fell asleep.

I am rooting for the

Stupid Friends Experiment to FAIL.

Kidd is my all time favorite player and he does deserve a ring, but the Failure of the Stupid Friends would be more appealing.

I dont hate Lebron. I believe in teams getting better and getting good players, but I dont want NBA players to think they have conspire to get together to get a championship.

That’s it? Why continue to play with garbage like Mo Williams and Anderson Varejao, when the opportunity to join two legit stars presents itself?

by BrooksBridges11 on Jun 10, 2011 5:01 PM EDT reply actions

Exactly

And the fact that they are STILL struggling to win should tell you that there is no “shortcut” to winning

by Scooby803 on Jun 10, 2011 5:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Thats why they should get CP3 and Dwight Howard on their team for minimum -_-

Really if they get one more superstar and still lose I’ll just shake my head.

Hope JKidd, wins it...

I’m a Nets fan because him, I just loved him, and then my love for him passed for the Nets obviously… my favorite part of the game is playmaking and assists, and on Kidd era he was amazing organizing the game and dishing crazy passes to K-Mart and RJ.
Dallas is the 2nd team I most like in NBA, much because Nowitski that is my favorite PF of all time, a unique specimen at the position that makes a European like me proud of having european in NBA that is one of the best players of all time.
And the Heat I never liked them, even before James and Bosh arrived, and we rivaled with them a few years ago. So easy pick these are the Finals I’m living more intensely since our Finals.

DWill all the way to the Finals!! some day, very close...

J Kidd is my hero, and favorite athelete of all time. Hell Yeah he deserves a ring! I wish it was with the Nets, but never the less, this guy is a special player who plays his heart out every night. It would be a great way for him to retire.

by the Hunk on Jun 10, 2011 11:11 PM EDT reply actions

We all want Kidd to get his ring

but I would like to see the Heats win it all just because everyone has talked negative about them before the season started and even up to this very minute. You can’t go wrong witheither team winning it all, and its nice to see some new blood in the Finals

Never that

Nets is my only team bro. I hate the Heats since they always kicked our butts in the playoffs when they had Shaq, and we had the great Collins manning the paint.

I am not surprised with the number of people cheering for the Heats in NJ

There are tons of bandwagon fans that goes where Lebron goes.

I personally am cheering for the Mavs, because I think Kidd and Dirk deserves a ring more so than the “super team”.

I think Lebron does warrant all the hate he is getting, especially after humiliating all of the teams that went after him on national tv. He basically smack his home town state in the face in front of everyone on national tv.

Then he goes to Miami, and play second fiddle to Wade. Lebron, a MVP player the previous year going to another team to play as Robin. The fact that he’s being compared to all of the great players yet playing the way he does in the playoffs is a joke. The thing I hate the most is how the media/himself keep calling him the king when he haven’t even won one ring yet.

I didn’t mind his arrogantness when he was in the Cavs, because he did bring them to the finals by himself. But now, if he doesn’t win, he and his team will be the laughing stock of the NBA.

Jason Kidd deserves an NBA Championship...and I'll love it if the Mavs pull it off

Kidd is the best thing that ever happened to the franchise. Period.

While it did not end as smoothly as fans and management would have liked, it still was the best time to be a Net fans, and I will continue to praise Kidd for that.

I always wonder what if Prokhorov was the owner back in 2005 what the Nets would have been. Kidd probably would still be a Net.

yes

Kidd is number two on my top five favorite players of all time. He took my Nets to two NBA finals and just couldn’t get it. Even when he left NJ I never stopped following his career and hoping one day he can get that ring and solidify an already Hall of Fame career. Congrats Kidd no one deserves this more than you.
