Sasha: "I Am Excited To Be Part of Nets' Foundation"
Sounding very much like he expects to be back next season, Sasha Vujacic talks about how much he's excited to be part of the Nets, how much he appreciates Deron Williams and Brook Lopez, and how much he shares Mikhail Prokhorov's vision for a global franchise.
"It was a great opportunity to be able to play alongside one of the best point guards in the game, Deron Williams and play with one of the great young big men, Brook Lopez," Vujacic told an interviewer on his official website.
"It seems like Mr. Prokhorov and the Nets are focused on building a championship team, and I am excited to be part of the foundation for that."
Vujacic also spoke about how he wants to improve his game, how he was embraced by his teammates, and how his international experience fits in with "Mr. Prokhorov's vision." Do the Nets share Vujacic's feelings? By Thursday morning, the interview was the lead story on the team's official website.

Same here
For what he does, I like Sasha. He has a fast pace game and can play D well enough. I wish he wouldn’t catch and shoot so much, but hopefully summer training with a team that actually cares about your development will help him hone his game.
He definitely isn’t the worst thing to ever happen to the Nets, which is what so many drama queens here like to pretend.
In my Crystal Ball i see...
Deron Brook AK-47 Hump Smith
Sasha Playing D.

He’s not even very good at that.

LOL this is hilarious
but i do want Vujacic back with this team…
i really think he can be a poor man’s Ginobili

Housekeeper
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
not as poor as u prob think
the last 2 months of the season he averaged around 12-13 points while shooting 41 percent overal and 40 percent from outside.
i said this before, if vujacic ever finds consistency and i think he will..he’s gonna be an excellent player off the bench
Ginobli is a hall of famer to me.
He plays defense, is an amazing passer, as of the most polished offensive games I’ve ever seen. A clutch shooter. He’s a very well rounder players basically he does everything well. Sashsa takes bad jump shots and thats it
He cannot be a poor man’s Ginobli. Thats like saying Q Ross is a poor man’s Gary Peyton.

I'm sorry if you don't understand the logic
of what he is saying.
If they had told him he wasn’t in their plans, he would not be talking like this.
he would talking about his free agency (which he does not mention).
i dont hear him talking bout a lot of stuff
but i can easily spin this and say he is trying to sac-ride deron and brook and hope he gets overpaid like outlaw so he can chuck up those long twos
and when he says hes working on his game. must be adding mid-range twos to his game now
maybe one day when he’s 32 years old he’ll learn what a layup and drawing contact is.

Well say good-bye to Dwill
If this team brings back sasha and has morrow and no true starting 2 then were losing dwill for sure.
NO way a team of Dwill/Farmar/Morrow/Sasha/AK/Outlaw/Humps/Lopez/Petro wins any games
The thing is avery did say we need shooters and sasha/morrow are that but you need a legit starter for the 2, if we can get that guy and have sasha/morrow coming off the bench then we all dont need to jump off the brooklyn bridge because it isnt that bad

man this is the most arrogant dude ever
he makes marbury look like a model citizen.
first he tries to diss goran dragic and team slovenia cuts sasha from the team instead
then he says he can score 30 whenever he wants and has never done so once in a single game
then he says after shooting 38% he plans to be part of the future foundation for the nets
all of this compounded by the fact that he’s a fake hustle guy and the only thing he knows how to do on offense is chuck a three or pump-fake and chuck an extremely long two

His value? His value?!!
You do understand that his win-shares was negative. He was the only player in the NBA that played more than 15 minutes a game to accomplish that feat. Do you understand how hard it is to post a negative win-share for an entire season? Honestly, it’s amazing.

It's not that big a deal if he comes cheap. Realistically 1-2 mil per. If that happens, then it could mean one of two things:
we’re keeping Morrow/Sasha combo at SG, or they are looking at a trade involving Morrrow as a key piece.

He’s 26. Not much more, but more…depending on what the market is, of course.

He jacks up a lot of shots, but be real, would you rather have Sasha Vujacic, who clearly is a good citizen, role model in the community, or J.R. Smith, someone who has been arrested, is in a gang, outwardly threatens his team when he made no clear contribution, has had troubles with drugs, and more? He actually wasn’t part of the Lakers rotation last year, he played in less than half playoff games and just 7 mpg. But oh yeah he was on the floor when Boston had to foul, a good free throw shooter being put on the floor when you know the other team is gonna foul. Previous year when LA won the first championship, he was playing 10 mpg in the playoffs.
I am fine with having Sasha as a Net play the same role as he played with the Lakers
As long as Net Income ALSO promises me Kobe (in peak condition), Pau, Odom, Bynum, etc.
As long as the Nets DON’T have those guys, then the comparison to the Lakers is misleading.

avery & brass liked his tenacity but
i’m sure they realize he’s a bench player on a good team. if he wants to help his cause, and define a very clear role for himself, he’ll work on his J all summer until it becomes as deadly as he thinks it was.

Andres isn't going to be too happy LOL
I honestly wouldn’t mind him, and as those have said earlier, him even mentioning himself as part of the Nets’ foundation is a hint he’s coming back. Could mean also Morrow is starting because if he’s speaking so highly of them, I can’t see them making him a bench warmer behind some free agency pick-up

Or is bringing back every role player from a team that won 24 games last year because they’re “nice guys” a strategy people really want to get behind? Do people even remember the last month of the season? The team was abominable once it had to reach to its bench depth consistently. The Nets need legitimate starters at the SG and SF slots this summer, relegating guys like Morrow and James to the bench, relegating guys like Sasha to a team that’s not looking for the playoffs, relegating guys like Stephen Graham to the glue factory where he belonged all last season.

I’m not sure if you’re serious?
He was dumped at the expense of their first rounder.
The Lakers felt so highly of Sasha, they traded him for air and Joe Smith as Kobe’s bench press spotter at the expense of their first.
It has everything to do with his talent.
If he had a positive impact on the game, LAL would not have dumped him and would have played him.
The guy has a career PER of 11.7 and career win shares of about 2 per season.
His raw %’s have been mediocre to bad every season but one and the same goes for his advanced percentages.
Just watching him, you can tell he’s a terrible defender.
He chucks like Carmelo Anthony but he’s got the talent of Matt Carroll.
Wait, I apologize, that’s disrespectful to Matt Carroll.
On top of all the evidence in front of you with the subtlety of a pipe bomb, he’s painful to watch. It’s not even entertaining.

and people get mad at that. Boggles the mind. Even if you don’t like Sasha and don’t want the Nets to resign him, that’s not what this story is about. This story is about Sasha’s positive opinion of the Nets, a sentiment I hope is increasingly shared by other players around the league. How this story could be construed into something negative is beyond me. It puts a finer point on N.I.’s observation that there is a tendency to find the negative spin in a story and embrace it.
2010-2011 = acquire an All-Star via cap space as Thorn himself said
2011-2012 = make the playoffs without hindering future flexibility
2012 off-season = sign the second All-Star
2012-2013 = make a run for the championship
Mission accomplished thus far.
The way it got turned negative
Is because people are on this board like to dump all over players. Got some negative traits? then you can guarantee all positives will be forgotten.
Vujacic is a decent player. No one is arguing he be a starter, No one is saying give him 7 Million. But that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a good bench player who contributes to the team.
Honestly the Vujacic hate is so blown out of proportion. We can’t fill our entire roster with starters. Sasha has a good shot, a good pace, and can be a pest on D. Accept it.
In my Crystal Ball i see...
Deron Brook AK-47 Hump Smith

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Sasha isn’t a decent player, he’s an uber garbage scrub city chucker with putrid defense with enormous delusions of grandeur.

hmm. gotchya
real valid arguement. You have swayed my opinion.

I don't care if your opinion spontaneously combusts.
If you think Sasha is a good player, I don’t know what to tell you.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.
Terrible stats? Check.
Watch him on the court and realize he’s a chucker with bad shot selection, low BBIQ and matador defense? Check.
So stats back up observations? Check.

Don't kid yourself
This post is about Sasha wanting to resign. The fact that a player wants to it irrelevant unless its actually someone good. We are an NBA team and people that don’t have many option but like to play in the nba are of course going to want to sign here.

KEEP SASHA!
It’s about teamwork. He’s good when plays are called for him – cuts and quick screens. He isn’t an iso guy – those who like VC will always have a problem.
All they need to work on is their team defense – switches/help-the-helper. Putting him one-on-one against Kobe, Wade, etc is an abuse.
I'm an MJ FAN (Bulls)... turned into JKIDD FAN (Phoenix-Nets)...
NOW, I'm definitely a NETFAN - Go Deron Williams!
morrow+picks
include lopez to bring d12 – this way orlando offense won’t change.
the good thing about this, if orlando wants d12+arenas, we can use arenas on 2 – i don’t know if that’s a good idea though. hopefully, he and outlaw can work to be in shape.

Bottom line
He is welcome back at the Vets minimum, or slightly above – but less than Farmar, Petro, etc. make.
AND as long as he is willing to be a non-rotation player – 3rd SG on the depth chart, 10th-12th man.
FIXED
And he shouldnot beresigned

I see the logic of that...
although the Nets should have a pretty good idea about the roster pretty quickly. In any event, it should be a pretty minor contract in the scheme of things.
People tend to forget about Sasha's last minute hustle play under the basket that won us a game...
or his clutch 3 that tied the game we will eventualyy win in 3ple OT against the Raptors…
because he cannot dunk…
and people tend to forget about T-Will sleeping during shootaround...
because he CAN dunk!

And people forget how many games Sasha literally shot us out of.
What is not to get.
We were a 24 win team with one of the best young centers in the game.
Reason for that?
Scrub city resident scrubs clogging the roster.
Guys like Sasha are fringe NBA roster cuts.

The only good the Nets get out of Sasha
is when he is used in 2k11 for his three pointers. They already have Morrow who is a better shooter and fills the same exact role on the team.
they have morrow in the bench beacuse of injury...
so whom do you people want to play for the 2 spot??? and i don’t think shasha would sign for 1-2 million a year.. coz we even sign petro for 3 million a year with a lesser role..
I want sasha back
he won like 3 or 4 games for the nets last year and both he and farmar did great together. Ask any laker fan if they would take sasha and farmar back. The young fans on this board think the nets need all stars on both first and second teams. Sasha is a keeper.
I'm not young and most Laker fans don't want anything to do with Sasha ever again.
This team is exceptionally devoid of talent, we don’t All Stars at each position, but you need more then one on a team.
We also need high level role players, not scrubs like Sasha, he’s not a keeper, he’s end of the bench Gatorade fetcher.
