Hey Nets fans. So in the past few weeks after seeing our small playoff hopes get smaller and smaller, most of the comments have been with regards to the offseason.
There have been many ideas thrown out there. David West (against) was popular prior to the injury, holding out for Dwight Howard (for) is a common theme, some people have suggest Greg Oden (undecided), dreams of acquiring Granger (for), bringing back Kenyon (for) and Vince (for), suggestions of Tayshaun Prince (for), Wilson Chander (against), and Caron Butler (for).. and who could forget the arguments over Kris Humphries (keep).
Briefly, I'd like to point out the Nets biggest problems are in the backup bigs category, starting small forward, and back up wing. I do see a lot of decent players out there, but in my opinion.. cap space is more valuable than a decent player. Remember folks, Travis Outlaw was "a decent player". Unless we can sign a decent player to a short term deal, I think patience is the better angle. In addition, I see no need to spend cap space on any other position.
That said, even though I've written my personal opinion on all these suggestions, it is important to keep in mind that these discussions are premature prior to the CBA. That's not to say we shouldn't discuss hypothetical ideas, on the contrary, I love discussing Nets basketball on here. I just wanted to take the time to create a thread dedicated to the CBA, because it is the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of the offseason.
Any "good" ideas we all have can prove to be "bad" if the CBA is designed a certain way, and vice versa. So I would like all of netsdaily to post in this thread what they feel would be the best possible CBA scenario for the Nets.
For example: Do you want a franchise tag? On one side, that would guarantee us Deron, but on the flip side, you can kiss Dwight dreams goodbye.
So tell us your ideal scenario. Franchise Tag? Hard Cap? Soft Cap? Lower number of maximum years? Lower overall Cap? Lower salaries for Max contracts? If changes in salaries do occur, should older contracts be grandfathered? etc.
I will start things off with the very basic. Does a lock out favor the Nets?
