Deron Williams' contract is up after next season, that is two years to make a decision that will determine the legacy of his NBA career. Will Deron Williams be like every other star who had the opportunity to bolt from their respective teams to play with their "friends", or will he take possibly the most golden opportunity to break this recent trend of "superfriends". Though it is risky, Deron Williams has the opportunity to get respect, be the good guy, not the villain. He has the chance to be the guy who took a chance on a team that many other superstars brushed aside, and lead that team to glory. He will be respected by Nets fans, media and even people around the NBA. If Deron Williams stays with the Nets and they put the proper pieces around him, he can win a title. Then Deron Williams would not have followed in the man who he idolized, Jason Kidd's footsteps, he would of surpassed him. The possibility of opening a new arena in the 4th largest city in the world, Brooklyn and be the face of the franchise, is amazing. If the Nets can bring along Dwight Howard, they would be title contenders. Deron Williams would be known as the guy who stuck with the Nets franchise, he was the first one there and lifted the franchise to new heights. He would be known as the guy who brought a franchise who has had little success in its history, to a championship. He also has the opportunity to be the most globalized player with the help of Mr. Phrokorov. He also has an owner who is willing to spend every penny he has to give him what he wants. People say that he would never stay with the Nets, that he going to the Knicks, why? The Nets franchise presents an ultimate opportunity for Deron Williams to have an extremely successful career. These people believe that they are the same old Nets, they will never keep any stars or be successful because they will always be in the shadow of the Knicks. People fail to look at the facts that the Nets have something special going if they handle it right, its not that people don't know these facts, they don't want to acknowledge them, they want to keep the Nets in the shadows. The question is, will Deron Williams pull them out of the shadows and lead them to glory? Will he realize this opportunity? All of this of course, is reliant on what the Nets front office put around him and if Deron Williams signs that contract extension, will he do it? Its in his hands now.
