I think it is safe to say that I am not sold on Kris Humphries as our future starting PF and cringe at the thought of giving him a 4-5 yr deal in the 7-10M range based on the success he has had during the second half of this season. Sure he is getting up there in age and his contract calls for 15.1M next season (his last!), yet I believe he just may be the perfect acquisition for the NETS at the PF spot this upcoming year.
As the other PF options in FA seem to be less than desirable, why not bring in Antawn for a year (and maybe more at a significantly reduced contract 4-5M/yr) and watch him become rejuvenated playing with Deron and Brook in order to make a playoff run. Antawn has proven that he he can be counted on for 17-20 points with 6-9 boards a game. On the Nets his rebounding numbers might actualy be significanty higher as no other NET player ever goes for any boards (See Hump's stats). He is a leader, a "Glue Guy" and I believe would be a great fit for our team.
If he does not produce, we can simpy move on to fill the PF position in the 2012 FA period.
Assuming that we can get the Cavs to take back Petro, Farmer/Gaines, etc, I think it will be the wisest choice and one that wil make Deron happier in the long run........We need to convince Deron to sign and making the playoffs is a necessity next year.
Then we can bring back VC on a 2/10 contract to play with his former college teammate!
