Raise High the Roof in Brooklyn
Things have been quiet lately at the Barclays Center construction site, but now the arena's roof is starting to take shape. The arena's distinctive arched roof will be supported by a pair of 350-foot-long trusses spanning the long direction of the arena. A new image, released Tuesday, shows the first first of those arch roof beams being installed at the "billion dollar arena", as the Nets are now calling it.
The placement of pre-cast concrete slabs on already installed metal decking is also projected for this week.
Meanwhile, the Nets announced that LIU, the Brooklyn school that made it to the NCAA (then got beat by North Carolina), could be playing some games at Barclays. The Blackbirds are in talks to play a portion of its home schedule at the arena. IMG, the big booking agency, already has a deal to bring 25 nationally ranked NCAA games to Brooklyn annually.

350 foot trusses…damn. I used to assemble trusses for a job and I thought 75 footers looked insane. Sheesh.

Still looks too hazardous to play in yet
Also cold, which would piss off Sheridan.

Idiots?
Where are all the idiots who said that this would never happen? This is going to be the best thing to happen to Brooklyn, since February 10, 1954.
Paul from Sunny Delray Beach, Florida
yeah
there was a poster last week, maybe a fan post which said Brooklyn arena would never happen. Its on schedule, can’t wait to see what it looks like when its done.
I was there in person when DWill won his first game as a Net (4th March 2011, London versus Toronto Raptors).
C'mon Deron Better. New York Brooklyn aka Brooklyn Empire the new team name for the Nets in 2012

Here's his last comment on the fanpost
Once Barclay’s falls through
I’ll follow up with a longer post. My guess is that the current construction site in BK ultimately becomes a train station. It’s a guess, admittedly, but a fairly logical one.
You heard it here first – the Nets will never play a home game in Brooklyn, so get used to taking the train to Newark

Give him a medal
I am glad he also sees through it as I do. Of course, let’s not forget that state senator Karl Kruger has been found giving money to FCR, and there have been proof of his connections with Bruce Bender, one of Ratner’s associates. Also, the unions who originally supported Ratner or now rethinking their positions after the prefab architecture that doesn’t look real outside of blueprints. BTW, the documentary Battle of Brooklyn will be showing at a film festival in Toronto for its first major debut. When it comes here, we should all attend in seeing that film, and I do mean you. It just doesn’t seem right to judge a film before seeing it. If the strikes happen, then there is a good chance that the arena will be pushed back. As for LIU, I don’t see what’s wrong where they play now especially when their current place wasn’t built that long ago and holds a capacity that is more fitting for such attendance of their team. Oder mentions that they only got high attendance when students were being given free tickets, so in other words, they wouldn’t attend it if they had to pay for it.

Starting to resemble an arena
looks great.
But alas, it will never be built. It is all just an illusion.
Morph must be a magician..he morphs things into illusions?
speaking of the magician, did you hear about one who recently died? you should have seen his casket at the wake. swords sticking in all angles of that box.

I miss the days when America was only morally bankrupt...
Meh...
Trade deadline has passed, our own draft pick is in Utah, we’re not making the playoffs, and Stern has rigged the league to keep Stephen Graham out of MVP contention. Nothing to argue about! Game threads are still bumping!

The shape is about at 25 percent. If you mean the entire arena then it is not near 25%

Only 15 more months of construction to go! Has anyone received their Brooklyn season ticket info yet? I thought it was supposed to arrive last week.

I give Sheridan no credit
He’s a shill for the Knicks. He’s supposed to write for ESPN New York which includes the Nets, but he doesn’t pen a single article about us unless it’s something incredibly negative.
I’d curse up a storm at the mention of his name, but I’d prefer to not get the warning.
