The Brook Dilemma

Many have written positive and negative things about Brook throughout the year. The positives-He is still in his early 20s, his offensive game is pretty polished, and it is rare to find a big man who can do what he does. The negatives-he is slow and weak this year (perhaps b/c of the mono), he is not developing as well as we thought he would, he does not rebound like a seven footer should. One thing I think most avid Nets fans can agree on is that his aggressiveness and 'presence' in the middle are not where they should be. So... what to do? Dream of packaging him in a deal with picks etc to Orlando for Howard? Why that sounds like a sweet Disney Dream and an opportunity to link Brook with his character friends at Disney it may be far fetched. Never hurts to dream though. What I struggle with though is looking at what DWill was successful with in Utah (aka Boozer) and then looking at Brook. Boozer is quick footed and tenacious. Two attributes that the big fellow will never be associated with. I would like to see how he bounces back next year and perhaps how working out in the off seson with a strength and conditioning coach can improve his game. So for now I am still in wait and see mode but I am going to be up front in saying I am not overly optimistic on him. He really slows down the game and while doing things you rarely see a seven footer do (score with consistency) he also does not do some things that a seven footer usually does (play mean interior defense and rebound). My fingers are crossed and I am shutting my eyes. Maybe I too will dream of Disney.
