Do me a favor and go over to NetsAreScorching and read the new article posted up there. It does seem to make some good sense to trade Lopez for Dwight, because it can become a win for everyone involved. It would make sense that all parties should want a DH for Lopez trade this summer. Why?
For the Nets:
Getting an extended Dwight Howard would not only be a major talent upgrade, but would ensure that Deron
Williams extends too.
For the Magic:
Brook Lopez is easily the best talent they could ever hope to get in return for Dwight. Lots of teams want Dwight, but only the Nets have a 22 year old promising center on a rookie contract to trade.
He gets an extension under the current CBA, which ensures he doesn't lose money in the new CBA, and he also manages to pair up with a legitimate superstar.
Everybody wins! A Dwight Howard extend and trade this summer would be in the best interests of Orlando, the Nets, and Dwight Howard. Should (or when) the Magic get knocked out of the playoffs and Howard's departure seems likely, Billy King should go after this hard.
