2011/12 predictions
This post is for us to make predictions regarding next season and we can discuss what we might hope might happen or laugh at other's outlandish claims. I'll start off
Nets back in the play-offs
If Nets win 40+ I could see DWill be voted MVP - having the same impact on the franchise as Jason Kidd did when he was robbed of the MVP by Tim Duncan.
If Lopez has a good offseason and can put a lot of muscle on, keep progressing on his game, learn how to rebound from Hump and be motivated because he'll be playing for a contract extension then with DWill throwing the ball into him I could see Lopez being voted Most Improved Player (partly because his game has fallen off a little this season).
No more fallen angels. this strategy does not work. We have a different GM who has his own ideas and has proved himself this year very able to make great trades for the Nets and in the past with the 76ers able to find quality outside the lottery in the NBA draft.
My concern about King's ability is him handing out far too generous long term contracts which restrict the franchise in the future. I hope Bobby Marks is the voice of reason when it comes to negotiating contracts with free agency. just because Prokhorov has a lot of money doesn't mean it should just be spent on anyone. Free agency should be very different now for the Nets as we have DWill to help recruit and top players will want to play with DWill and also we have Brooklyn to sell.
I don't know yet which free agents the Nets will target but I would imagine given the Russian connection we could see AK47 suit up for us. And while this is incredibly unlikely to happen I would love to sign AK47 to a $10 million one year deal next season renounce his rights and become a major player in 2012 free agency again and then sign AK47 to a minimal multi-year deal. This would mean AK47 still gets paid but in a large up front deal.
I think its still very possible the Nets name disappears before we move to the Barclays Centre. I favour two names. The New York Brooklyn as it should attract fans from throughout NYC but states where the Nets now play. Or if the Nets decide to have only a Brooklyn name then I like Brooklyn Empire.

I would not expect too many great things next year. Even with Deron, we are still a lottery team…….far better than before yet not a playoff team yet. FA signings in the offseason will be critical to our next year’’s sucess.
WOW I think I have spotted a realistic Net fan. I thought I was the only one.
While everyone else is hanging up championship banners….I’m wondering if we can get pieces to make DWill happy and sign with us next year. We haven’t won anything yet. And to some of the people talking about playoffs this season, you have got to be kidding me!
As far as the Regular Season
I dont expect a title run. I expect us to be competative but not title ready AT ALL. What i look forward to most next season is player acquisitions. With Dwill onboard i can see us snagging another super star through trade next year during trade deadline. Maybe a Dwight Howard if he decides that he doesnt want to stay in Orlando? They will certainly trade him just like the Jazz traded Dwill. I also look forward to this years draft. We may have traded our own first rounder but we still have another in this years draft. We have a top notch scouting program in place and a better GM/Head Coach in my opinion. We will get a decent player in the draft.
We still need a solid SF for the starting rotation. Im hoping Damion James improves his game and has a break out year next season after a full offseason of practicing with Dwill.
Dwight Howard has a much better team in Orlando, why would he downgrade and come play for us? I love crazy rumors on here.

By 2012 we would have upgraded the roster, possibly significantly
and with Deron entering his prime, why wouldn’t he at least be interested? It is rumored that they have talked about it.

There is a rumor for everything. There is a rumor that many of my fellow Nets fans are nuts.
There are no major talents available in FA and the Magic will not trade Howard.
Making the playoffs next year is my goal.
J-Kidd to D-Will
next year
i think they can be a 6-8 seed playoff team. D.Will & Brook will both be all-stars & hopefully they can pull off a trade over the summer or before the trade deadline next year that brings in another big name.
What the Nets should do prior to next year's trade deadline:
1) Sign David West in the 2011 offseason
2) Sign-and-trade Brook Lopez for Dwight Howard before 2012 trade deadline
Having those 2 players will make D-Will want to stay with the Nets for the long term, as they head towards Brooklyn. That would be a sick C/PF combo along with James, Morrow and D-Will.
