Did we choose the wrong technique???

After having some time to digest (INDIGESTION) the recent melo drama, I am really confused as to the tactics used by the Nets

If, as reported, the Nets felt that they could "wear down" the Knicks by making them offer so much that the Knicks would walk away, clearly 2 things were not in place:  1.  The Knicks desire for Melo was underestimated.  2.  The Nuggets were not working in concert with the Nets.

Basically, the way I see this, the Nets basically said, "The Nuggets like our offer better so what we are going to do, we're going to make the Knicks make an offer that is close enough to ours that Denver would have to consider it...Huh? WHAT???

If the Nuggets truly were working with the Nets to get the Knicks out of the picture, why would they "push the envelope" by asking for Mosgov.  Are you kidding me?  Mosgov?  The Knicks would have been ROASTED for not adding him to this trade.   What should have been done is they should have demanded Fields and 1 more pick if they were truly working together with the Nets.  That would have left the Knicks with little time and few assets to get another pick.  Clearly, the Nets fell asleep on this one and were not paying attention to the Nuggets using them in such a blatent manner.

Yes, I'm working with hindsight but then again, I didnt have the insight that the Nets SHOULD have.  Having seen what transpired, I think the correct thing would have been for Proky to tell the Nuggets that we are out.  If you want us back in, you need to deliver Melo, with pen, telling us he will sign the extension.  Then we will hammer out the details of the trade...Until then, dont call us...  Then the Nets should have said, you have until Monday morning 10am Est to complete this or we are done....During that time, the Nets should have been working through other trades ready to go.

I didnt want to believe we were played so hard.  Its embarrassing what happened here.  We not only lost the Melo deal (which quite frankly, outside of him going to the Knicks, I really dont care much for him being a Net) but we devalued our own assets. Its truly unreal what just went down.

I say, screw trading Harris, whether he wants to be here or not, for pennies on the dollar. If you want to rape us, then no deals get done and we go with what we have.  Lets not make this any worse than we have already made things...
