Now that Carmelo Anthony is officially a Knick, it is an undeniable fact that thousands of people will become Knicks fans overnight. These are the same type of people who became Heat fans when LeBron made his move this summer. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with supporting a player and not a team, but unfortunately it seems that many fans are fairweather nowadays.
As a Nets fan, it really disappoints me to see that so many people are abandoning our team right now. It is bad to give up on the Nets but even worse to jump across the river and start following the Knicks. I am definitely disappointed by everything that transpired with Melo. I feel that we were led on for months only to be disappointed in the end. I am not surprised by what went down, but it still stings nonetheless.
I grew up a Nets fan and will always remain a Nets fan, regardless of the Brooklyn move and the poor management decisions that have transpired over the years. This may be a dark time for the Nets, but all I can really do is have faith in the management and keep hoping for some improvement. The chips are definitely down right now, but we can't give up. Hopefully someday we will remember this time and be able to laugh at the likes of LeBron, Melo, and all of the people who doubted this organization. I have faith that things will be better someday.
