Troy Murphy
Remember when we traded for Troy Murphy and we expected him to be there for favors while he was developing as a player. I no we have given up on troy Murphy but i honestly don't think that is the right decision. I mean last year he was a double- double machine. He averaged 14 points and 10 boards. Now if we could get a player like that back to the nets i think he would honestly be a great help maybe he could play sf or pf and move favors to backup center which i think he has the length for. I think Murphy honestly has a chance to go back to that consistent player that he was. Could he have really gotten that much worse over the past year. I think that unless we could get a really good deal for Murphy we should give him another chance. Billy King has a very short temper when it comes to slumps. When Terrence Williams got injured ( Now on Houston) we got rid of him immediately. He had a ton of potential in my view. He could have been a all star. Troy Murphy was a good player before he still is and i think that we really need to evaluate giving up on him again. I no people don't think the same way that i do so please comment. And also i would really like to hear the other people who think that we should keep him.

I think we should trade him because...
i really feel like we could get a lot in return from either a team that wants him for the reason of his expiring contract or some contender who needs a solid big man like Troy Murphy.

we should trade him, there is no minutes for him here to be effective
maybe we can get a decent player or second round pick for him
He's going to get bought out at the deadline anyway
I would be happy if we received the 60th pick of the draft for him
But teams aren’t going to offer much because he has no value to the Nets except for his contract. He might be able to play still, but teams should just wait until the deadline when he is bought out.
LAst year
could he have really gotten that much worse then last year

he was playing big minutes on a lousy indiana team and playing alot each night
this year was bad starting with injuries and then getting dnp and coming off bench sparingly, couldnt get in a groove like that and humphries stepped up this year
its not his fault.. it's avery's. never got a chance.
I am going to turn this team around 360 Degrees- Jason Kidd
It’s not Avery’s fault. What should he have done differently? Hump DESERVED to start. He took that job and ran with it. Then there’s those of you that wanted Favors to start because we weren’t going anywhere. Where was he going to get these minutes? The ONLY thing that he could’ve done was sat Favors to give Murphy minutes. How many people would’ve been screaming over that? You want to call it dumb luck or bad luck? Fine but let’s not blame Avery over this.

and i was a big murphy supporter,
he is probably one of those guys who can give u stats playing big minutes on losing teams but not much else
Well it was worth the gamble. We traded a guy who DIDN’T want to be here for a guy who was on the last year of his deal, was from NJ, WANTED to be here and had a decent season before we acquired him. It didn’t work so he’ll be gone one way or another. It would’ve been nice to see him play with the ‘new’ Harris. He needs a PG that can create for him since he’s disgustingly slow.

Ridiculous.
He obviously gave Murphy a chance. Just look at his game log: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=1013
Murphy was just horrible when Avery gave him a chance.

288 Minutes
That’s the “obvious” chance that Murphy got—a bit more than a tenth of a season for a vet coming off a back injury. Please. Petro has gotten almost 500 minutes, and he can’t ball a melon. The ship has sailed for Murph getting PT on the Nets (i.e., playing time—he could still probably get physical therapy), but we will now get little or nothing for him because teams will wait for the inevitable buy-out.
If we weren’t going to play him, we shouldn’t have traded for him in the first place. You can say his benching was because Hump emerged, but that doesn’t explain Petro’s minutes. We should have played Murph twenty minutes a game, let him get in shape, and then we could have gotten a piece to build with for the future. It’s not like it would have cost us a playoff berth or anything. He would have done about what he always has: some 3pt shooting, good rebounding, and mediocre D. That’s worth something to a contender. Not now. Fail.
48-34
Petro plays more because, well he actually plays in games
Murphy has 31 inactives due to injuries/requesting a trade/sucking
He averaged about 18 a game which would equate to 882 minutes if he played every game. So that argument is not valid.
They traded for him because Lee wanted out and he was supposed to be a stop-gap for Favors. It turns out he got injured, then when he came back and played 20+ mpg, he sucked and then got injured again. He had a chance to play, he just squandered it
trade troy for Artest
word is Artest wants out. we should trade Troy for him.
i doubt Phil would want troy but who knows.
Artest is an upgrade from Outlaw on both ends of the floor.
& he can go along with our growing ex-laker roster.
Artest has a horrible contract and isn't a productive offensive player.

Small Forward? Please?
We should trade Murph for a small forward who can shoot. If we can do that, then I say let Murph sit the rest of the year, and take advantage of his expiring contract. I don’t want Rip Hamilton, I don’t want OJ Mayo either. But I don’t want to keep playing Graham, as he has no future, as far as I am concerned. How about someone from the D-League, or Europe?
Paul from Sunny Delray Beach, Florida
his contract is high, but he isn't washed up.
He’s in a system that he can’t flourish in.
standing in the corner waiting for a jumper while kobe & Pau do their thing is not his game.
therefore he doesn’t get motivated to play.
you can think what you want, but i bet that if he goes to a team that needs him to produce, he will go back to the numbers he was putting up in Sacramento & houston
he is better then any other SF we have on our team…& would bring some needed toughness.
I agree............
He’s not allowed to use all his skills. I think he’s worth looking into.

not sure which teams want an overpaid pf who struggles off bench
who is going to give him a starting job now after his awful year
We have no choice but to keep playing him right now. That’s all we can do.

My fault. I thought you were talking about Outlol.

Trade indirectly
like what Dallas did with Toronto
Dallas got G-F Peja Stojakovic off waivers and traded Alex Ajinca for Rights to Georgios Printezis.
Nets could Waive Troy Murphy (let him talk to Orlando first)
Orlando gets Troy Murphy off-waivers and trades Quinton Ross and Joey Graham for Quinton Richardson.

there has to be a team that could use him
who needs a 3pt shooting pf
Orlando would make sense but I don’t think that’ll happen. They need the size though.
