Magic Consider Tampering Charges Against Nets

David Aldridge reports the Magic are "contemplating filing tampering charges against two unnamed NBA teams for illegal contact with its franchise center." Sam Amick tweets that the two teams are the Nets and Rockets.
At the center of the proposed charges against the Nets (the Magic later said they wouldn't file charges against Houston) "is an alleged meeting between Dwight and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov on Thursday. A source tells Broussard that Howard met with Prokhorov and Billy King in Miami on Thursday, and that the Magic were unaware of the meeting.
However, a "league source" tells Stefan Bondy the report is untrue.
Aldridge also writes that a source says that "a reported proposed package by the Nets of center Brook Lopez and Draft picks for Howard is not at all interesting to the Magic," and that Orlando "will not let Howard dictate the terms of where he wants to go."
Meanwhile, a report out of Orlando quotes sources who say that Dwight Howard "may soon fire his agent [Dan Fegan] and request a trade from the team." Another tweet denies that Fegan is being dumped.

If the Nets can play half decent ball, Dwight has to realize how much of an impact he'll make
If the Nets are a .500 team or close to it by the deadline, he can make them a surefire playoff squad

Otis Smith may very well fail at appeasing Dwight
But all of this points to one thing. Otis is gonna fight to keep Dwight in Orlando for as long as he can.
Nets have to make a choice. Do we sign Nene (if we even can) or other players and miss out on Dwight? Or do we risk everything on the hopes that we’ll eventually get a deal for him?

King and Proky managed to convince Dwight to come to NJ
Otis wasn’t having any part of that “I’m choosing where I wanna go”
So they refuse to play ball and accomodate him. They KNOW that King and Proky are banking everything on this, so they throw this possible lawsuit out there
And it works. King is spooked, decides he can’t put the fate of DWill staying in Otis’s hands, and will go for Nene instead.

DWill comes out and says he will 90% be resigning with the Nets. Then a proposed meeting takes place. And then reports Dwight forcing trade. So now Orlando goes the tampering route. DWill and Dwight probably speak every minute about what the deal is. I’m sure DWill set up the meeting with Proky. And don’t you think the Nets would have been actively meeting with Chandler and/or Nene if they thought they needed to sign them? I actually think best if Orlando holds onto him all season and we sign him outright this summer. DWill plus Brook plus Dwight is better than DWill and Dwight.

Talking to Howard’s agent is NOT tampering b/c he also represents other FAs. The Nets didn’t tamper with Melo, I’m pretty sure that they are smart enough not to kill their franchise by blatantly disregarding the rules.
in 1996 Orlando threatened tampering against LA too, nothing came from it. Lebron’s dinner with Pat Riley in 2010 – nothing, CP3’s toast (which no one has yet gone on record to confirm even happened) – nothing.

About the Mannix stuff up there
First, he says Dwight would accept a trade(which we knew already), and sign long-term with us, then he says the exact opposite. You can’t believe a word he says. Whether Broussard is full of it or not, at least he’s consistent.

I very rarely post to this blog – but for some odd reason – when I do – you continually delete my posts. Are you a moderator – a censor or simply a low-life?

and NOTHING came about from it except several LA championships. I cannot logically believe that the Nets management would be so foolish as to blatantly break tampering rules like that, especially considering it’s the same ownership/management that went through the Melodrama. It makes even LESS sense that Houston, of all teams, would be guilty of the same thing.
IS THIS TRUE?
I read that one of the penalties for tampering in this case(along with fines & loss of picks) may be to not allow the Nets to sign Howard via trade or even as a free agent next year.

Neither NJ or Orlando has come out publicly to deny or confirm any of these rumors. Thee rumors could be true or not, but people are going to keep talking about them until either side completely dispels them
How possible is this?
Dwight says he wants to be traded, indicates that he wants a trade to The Nets.
Nets obviously happy to deal.
Orlando wants more from the NJ offer, decides to throw these allegations out there in hopes that King freaks out and stacks the deal further in any way he can to avoid controversy.
King decides he’s going to throw out the Nene rumor to call the Magic’s bluff and play chicken.
Now we’re playing who blinks first? Thoughts?

Did we just straight up have dinner with Dwight Howard? I mean, that’s not even an attempt at being subtle. “Our owner and GM are going to meet with Dwight Howard and his people for dinner.” If they actually did that, it’s going to be hard for me to believe in this team at all anymore. I don’t even need to be an NBA GM to know that’s serious. If Minnesota is going to lose two serious draft picks for dealing shadily with JOE SMITH, we’re going to be screwed if this is proven true.
