So, the Nets are still pursuing Nene as an insurance policy in case the Howard trade doesn't happen. B-King is, as ever, smart, diligent and, most of all, effective. Nene may have tremendous skills (mostly offensive) but is, at heart, a complimentary player. He is not someone around whom a franchise can build as a cornerstone. As the title of this post asks, who else do the Nets need to bring in to the last season in New Jersey? We already have a cap hold in place for Humphries, but he is also not someone around whom a franchise can build as a cornerstone. Take your pick and answer as if we do not have Dwight on board and as if we do have Dwight on board. Presuming we are set at the PG, what are your arguments for whom you bring to the team? For example:
Without D-12
D-Will/Farmar/Gaines
Morrow/Brooks/Farmar
AK47/James/J. Will
D-West/K-Hump/J. Will
Lopez/Petro
AK47 makes me a bit nervous in terms of injury but his productivity is attractive and he will instantly upgrade the defense. D-West also brings a great deal more offense and with a full season of D-Will at point, Brook would blossom offensively, assuming he doesn't get beat down physically too much.
With D-12
D-Will/Gaines/Farmar
Morrow/Brooks/Farmar
Turkoglu/James/Graham
K-Hump/J. Will
D-12/Petro
I think this is pretty close to the lineup we will see going into the season and the team instantly becomes a playoff contender.
Go Nets!
