UH-OH BROOK (Rip-Through Rules Change!)
"Rip-through" moves, in which an offensive player swings the ball into a defender's outstretched arm and then attempts a shot once he has created contact, will be considered non-shooting fouls if the contact begins before the offensive player starts his shooting motion.
Also, on drives to the basket, a shooting foul will be called only if contact occurs after the offensive player has begun his shooting motion, not after he has initiated his leap toward the basket.
"Certain types of contact involving the shooter were all being called in his favor," Jackson said. "It doesn't look good for the game. There was a strong feeling that those types of plays were creating an ill-advised reward for the shooter, often with three free throws."

Where did this come from?
This seems like a huge change. So people driving to the basket will not be awarded a shooting foul unless he is actually going for the layup? Then wouldn’t everyone just foul on fastbreaks etc, since they cannot even get free throws out of it?
click on the headline,
that will take you to the original article.
"A little boy went out to play. When he opened his door, he saw the world. As he passed through the doorway, he caused a reflection. Evil was born. Evil was born, and followed the boy."
I am not a fan of this change as a Nets fan because Brook uses it… but as a fan of the NBA I love it. I hate the pull through move.
"LeBron puts up great numbers, can't close w/o DWade. LeBricked 3 late 3s when shouldve been driving, getting to line. What else new?"
Yet casual basketball fans think he is a God, and would exhaust their entire squads to land him...
Hmm, so a change this big gets 3 comments
NI posts “Nets waiting on Nene, or not” gets 3000 comments..
Anyways I expect teams would make use of the 4 team fouls/quarter a lot more carefully, since now you can use a team foul to stop a person driving to the basket (before he goes into the shooting motion).
and don’t get me wrong, I thank NI for posting updates multiple times a day, as anxious as anyone else.
technically
it’s not really Nets-specific news, so I don’t think they’d put it on the front page of NetsDaily

It was titled "uh oh brook"
if people saw “NBA Officials will be changing the way they make calls” or something, it would have gotten more interest/views.
good point!
fixed :D

WOW! This is a HUGE change. This is going to effect a lot of players and game outcomes.
I generally agree that this is probably wise. So long ticky tack fouls…
It will be most interesting to see how the officials handle determination of the technicalities in the flow of game play.
