Kris Humphries Looking For A Fresh Start

Kim Kardashian and her family are painting a pretty unflattering picture of him right now, but Kris Humphries has no choice but to just get back on the basketball court and do what he was doing before he met the the reality star.

And he's also hired top Hollywood divorce lawyers to help get his marriage "annulled".

He charges that Kardashian defrauded him into thnking she was in it for love.

On Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski caught up with Humphries, who is working out in Minnesota and waiting for the free agency dominoes to fall, so that he can find out where he'll be playing this season.

"I approach my job, my life, in the same way that I’ve always done here," Humphries told Woj. "I’ve always been putting in the time. That’s my life. That’s what I do."

Woj writes that the Nets would like to keep Humphries, but they're chasing Nene and Tyson Chandler first.

exactly what I was thinking

Lopez, Chandler and Humphries off the bench would be a great big man rotation. don’t forget the rook Jordan Williams too

by TruJerz on Dec 7, 2011 5:52 PM EST up reply actions

i guess...

…orlando didn’t learn from the Cleveland debacle. For all intent and purposes, I’d like to see D12 stay in Orlando. Nets can get pieces around DWill that’ll satisfy him. Would be a big “win” for the NBA to have CP3 traded to a team that makes sense for the Hornets and CP3 is fine with; to have DWill stay with Nets; to have D12 stay in Orlando.

by Versifiervt on Dec 7, 2011 6:40 PM EST up reply actions

that sounds good

But whatever we do, we have to be decisive and aggressive. Either trade for Dwight now, or sign Chandler/Nene.

people forget that even if we dont get dwight we still have Lopez hes a good center young and didnt missed a game in 3 years hes kind of iron man

Just Brook is not nearly enough to keep Deron

We have to make the playoffs and at least get to the second round. Everyone knows Brook is good, but we need another big piece and additional role players.

by i says on Dec 7, 2011 7:57 PM EST up reply actions

If we lose to Miami in the first round

that means we were an 8 seed. I just don’t see that being enough with Deron. That’s why i believe the future of this franchise for the next decade can be decided by getting or not getting Dwight. Dwight makes us contenders instantly, Nene/Chandler get us closer but we would still need a Gay/Grander/Smith type to fill the roster out.

didn't see this in new CBA
_ The amount teams can pay toward buying an international player out of his contract is increased by $25,000 each season ($525,000 in year 1 of the CBA, $550,000 in year 2, etc.), and the rule now also applies to American players who are playing overseas.

In his first year with NJ,

He had an 18.0% TRB% – 26.7 DRB% & 10.0 ORB% 8.1 PTS 6.4 REB in 20.6 Minutes
This year – 22.1 & TRB& – 32.2 DRB% & 12.5 ORB% 10.0 PTS & 10.4 REB in 27.9 Minutes
Career – He has an 18.0% TRB% – 24.7 DRB% & 11.7 ORB% 5.6 PTS & 4.7 REB

He has always been a good rebounder. Is it that unfathomable that he made improvements in Avery’s system with more playing time?

He could definitely recreate the PTS & REB production with D-Will IMO. The rebounding percentages might go slightly down, but he is still an elite rebounder.

23 mil

Once the cap space is all used up

with Nene/Chandler and that SF, you can’t use Hump’s Bird rights like that. We’d only have the mini-MLE left, 3 mil to start, through 3 years.

why do we want the Nets to rein in their spending?

The Nets have the richest owner in sports.

The MLE contract argument would be acceptable if the Nets had been in position to use it when they signed Trav.

Signing trash to an MLE level contract without being maxed out and in the position to use the MLE is just a ridiculous waste of cap space.

It's all based on the presumption of a one-to-one correspondence between Nene signing and Deron signing

LeBron co-signed Antawn Jamison and still left.

If the Cavs had gotten Nene, LeBron probably would still have left.

Where is this proof of a one-to-one correspondence?

But Tom, Deron is more likely to stay if Nene or Chandler signs here

Maybe…That’s conceivable. It’s also conceivable cap strapping the team with an albatross contract for Nene is off-putting. There’s no proof either way.

I hope we get the players we need to be a playoffs team this year and hopefully surprise some people and make it to the 2nd round or 3rd round. .

That we will not be getting either Nene of Chandler… Not that I expect that you have all the insight, however I do think you know more than you let on, and you can’t deny you have been throwing off subtle hints to that affect over the last few days…hmmm

Not to mention Avery’s comments on Michael Kay today saying, the team can look a whole lot different at the All Star Break or at the trading deadline… Just sayin…

by NJNETS13 on Dec 7, 2011 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

The best Cavs player when Lebron was there was Mo Williams

and those washed up vets. The Cavs front-office absolutely sucked at getting Lebron players.

The Nets situation isn’t close to being a Cleveland. It could possibly form a Brook + Nene/Chandler frontcourt even if they miss out on Dwight. That’s not the equivalent of just a Mo Williams.

by stenpoint on Dec 7, 2011 7:46 PM EST up reply actions

why?

for the same reason it has been hard for the Nets to get players. They played in a small market.

Well if he likes offering that much for Caron clearly.

Some players are definately not good at determning contracts. Mind you Deron strikes me as a very smart player off the court. Either way we’re all just poeple at the end of the day with opinion whose to say which one is better. Deron comes from a class of thinking that supports players getting as much money as they can.

My main question for NI is

if your point (above) regarding the overpayment of important, but not central players occurs, in spite of LuxTax would that not leave us saddled with unmovable contracts that are too bloated for any other team to make sense of?

Would it be possible to overpay with front loaded years 1 and 2? That would still leave us flexible with expiring big contracts in 2012 off season yes?

you mean like the Mavs and Lakers

who have had the biggest luxury tax bills in the NBA over the last four years and won three of the four championships?

Like them?

You guys are too caught in cap space. It’s about getting players and the Nets WILL have to overpay to get guys at least this year. So you pay.

And just to remind you, with the Outlaw amnesty, the Nets will be $34 million BELOW the luxury tax which is still dollar for dollar through the end of next season.

by BigTom on Dec 7, 2011 9:28 PM EST up reply actions

I didn't say I had any issue with the overpay...

My question was about the long-term ramifications of the overpay. For instance, if you have a large contract on an aging pseudo star that you overpayed for one might expect that this might result in a difficult situation down the road. I was just wondering if there might be any mechanics at work in the FO suggesting front loading of contracts with increased LuxTax in the first 2-3 years. Or if the new CBA has any impact on those types of options.

Nothing against LuxTax if you have our owners pockets (i.e., MAVs LAL), but talent has a value and its not always reflected accurately through the lens of market demand and availability. You overpay to throw your weight around and take talent away from other interested teams, not make bad deals for players that don’t deserve the dollars because you’re desperate.

I don't think that players will come flocking to the Nets in that case.

I don’t think they will until the Nets have a legitimate contending team.

If the Nets prove they have a solid playoff team in Brooklyn with cap space, players will come.

Playing with a mediocre team for 5 years will only push back the timetable for rebuilding.

I say the sooner the better if a championship team is not currently buildable.

the moves that were made in 2008-09 and 2009-10 were financial moves to reduce losses, when the Nets had arguably the NBA’s least wealthy owner who was drowning in debt.

not true

they really thought they were going to get Rudy Gay, where shocked when on July 2 he agreed to max with the Grizzlies. Then, after failing to get the Big Three or Boozer or anyone else, they came up with a B list of players. Outlaw was on it. So were the three other free agents signed as was Tyrus Thomas who verbally agreed to sign with the Nets, then changed his mind overnight. (thank God).

I did, that sucked Avery probably had too much influence on that since Thorn was leaving and Thorn is gone now so hopefully we can make better choices.

but he could have declined Memphis offer sheet

And then he could have told the Grizz to orchestrate a sign-and-trade with the nets(like David Lee did)

Dwight or bust.

D.James at 1.3 Million > Caron Butler at 7 Million.

MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.

by Maxyboy on Dec 7, 2011 7:55 PM EST reply actions   1 recs

You know what

That’s a good point, and I agree with this. If we don’t land either Nene or Chandler, we have to just go Dwight or Bust. Sign a few guys on one year contracts or a guy like Thad Young or Afflalo who can be used as a trade asset and wait for Dwight. I’d almost rather hold cap space for Dwight and risk not being that great next year as opposed to ruining our flexibility by giving guys like Butler, Glen Davis, etc multiyear contracts. However, if we CAN land either Nene or Chandler, then I do think we should go all in and spend as much as we need to become a top 4 type of team. Either we go all in (Nene/Tyson + Multiyear supporting cast) or save for Dwight (if Tyson/Nene don’t come).

I don't see why, if the price is right, we can't sign Hump before Nene/Chandler.

We have to keep Hump’s cap hold anyway, which insures that we can give a better offer than other teams.
For example if Nets offer Hump 6.5 million to start, that is equivalent to 8.8 million for another team which can only offer a 4 year contract at a smaller increase.

Hopefully Nets can get Hump at less than 6 million to start, but if they wait to long, some team may go much higher.

Does that reasoning make any sense? Yet the Tabloids ran “Shocking News: Kris is Gay” as a headline.

Hump could have lots of legal expenses (if he fails to win), and he might be willing to sign a smaller contract ASAP.

by jerry25 on Dec 7, 2011 8:32 PM EST reply actions

he also could have part of the Kardashian fortune

he hired two of Hollywood’s “divorce bombers” guy sknown for tough tactics who are already on the record as saying they want to put her under oath about the financials of the wedding.

If the marriage never happened, how much could he really win?

We will finally find out if Hump really paid anything for that “$2 million” ring.
If he did, he could get that back and some damages for screwing up his life.

And if he claims that Kim made him Gay, he could get more!

They might have to give up on overpaying Nene to keep Afflalo and get Young.

That is why Nets may still get Nene, because Denver can only go so high.

Nets aren’t offering more than 13-14 million at this time, for Nene/Chandler yet. I think that is cause for delay in their coming. They want to see Nets show them the Big money first.

A lot of people clean up parks or construct park materials.

They build bridges or benches.

One scout in my troop raised money and distributed reflective address plates to put on the mailboxes in town so that emergency vehicles could spot houses easier.

I met one scout who dressed up as Santa Claus and delivered presents to children suffering from deadly illnesses.

Personally, I raised the money to construct a swing in my local park designed purposely for children burdened by wheelchairs.

I think we should move forward with the assumption that we're not getting Dwight

He still wants to be in Orlando, at least for this year. If they can manage to get an Ellis or Iguodala or Josh Smith, he’s there for good. They’re not gonna budge in the near future so we need to do something else. We can’t sign one year deals because no one’s gonna take one year deals

Don't the contracts have to be within 150% of each other though?

The reason it isn’t applicable now is because the Nets have cap space.

Brook + Tyson = about 15 million

150% is 22.5 million whereas absorbing Dwight & Hedo is about 31 million.

Why the Nets need to swoop in with an offer for Hayes
Over time, people began to realize that Hayes was more than just a rebounder and energy player — he was one of the best defenders in the league. Despite his size, opposing players found it almost impossible to get post position against Hayes, and he bottled up much larger centers and power forwards on a nightly basis.

Couple of thoughts.

1) Should we hope CP3 gets traded to GS? That would likely keep Ellis on the Warriors and away from Orlando. Dwight included Monta on his list of teammates he’d like.

2) Being that the Nets need to ensure Deron has some talent around him before his decision time, we should probably have Deron keep in touch with Howard and monitor where he’s leaning… then we act accordingly. If Howard doesn’t give any indication now, we may just sign Chandler, since Dwight may not get dealt at all.

It's a risk they should be willing to take IMO

They wouldn’t exactly be a losing team, especially if they sign Chandler. Paul, Ellis, Wright, Lee, Chandler isn’t half bad

Teams have to realize, like DWill; Dwight, Paul , whoever, no one is gonna sign an extension when they can make so much more money by opting out. Even if they wanna stay, they’re still not signing an extension

Note on Warriors’ CP/Chandler dream: Would have to include CBell or DWright as salary flotsam with Curry/Udoh/Thompson package to NO.

by BKNfastbreak on Dec 7, 2011 10:21 PM EST reply actions

thats not holding it up

they need to ensure they can sign chandler and that will be able to convince Paul to stay. Paul and Chandler on the warriors with Monta and Lee is instantly a playoff team. Paul is with his buddy and the best roster he ever had with one of the more loyal fanbases in the country. I cant see him leaving that.

Hornets are fine with Steph and Thompson plus any filler(besides Biedrens) but the Warriors have to get a sniff that Paul will change his mind if they pull off the Paul/Chandler reunion or not

Approaching a THOUSAND POSTS on a Kris Humphries’ thread.
Amazing what a year, some rebounds on a really bad team, a ding bat w/a big a**, a fake marriage/divorce and a lockout will do, huh?

"Some things you just can't question. Like you can't question why two plus two is four. So don't question it, don't try to look it up. I don't know who made it, all I know is it was put in my head that two plus two is four. So certain things happen. Why does it rain? Why am I so sexy? I don't know." - Shaquille O'Neal

ugh

better than him going to the Knicks, but how bout a team that hasn’t won a title in the last 5 years? Celtics and Lakers deserve to through a rebuilding phase like the rest of us

Obviously D-Will wants Butler

Nets are meeting with him, he is their top SF option, Deron went to see him in the Locker room after the finals. To me, the writing is on the wall

D-Will
Morrow
Butler
Lopez
Chandler

Im a huge fan of JR Smith

I hope a team buys him out just so I get to watch him play. Would love for the Nets to get him but I think we may be a little crowded at the SG position. Maybe the Bulls would buy him? Good news for JR nonetheless

Good News for the Nets.
In much the same way as I was told “everyone but Dirk” is being made available by the Mavericks for Paul, the Lakers could find themselves discussing everyone on their roster not named Kobe.

Yes

ideally CP3 is the star the lakers land…but Bynum has to be included in that trade.

let us hope

and take a cue from the smart teams— everyone on our roster not named Deron should be available to trade for D12

Good to see you posting again.

Chinese free agents not likely to be released from their teams, because the CBA threatened to forfeit the rest of the season for any team that let someone out of their contract.
