Nets Interested in Jared Jeffries?

Marc Berman reports that the Nets have reached out to Jared Jeffries, the 6'11' defensive specialist who's had two turns with the Knicks, the first as one of Isiah Thomas' worst moves. Berman writes at the bottom of a column on the Knick's big man issues, "They plan on re-signing Jared Jeffries, feeling his brief late-season tenure was not a fair measure. However, a league source said the Nets have also made a Jeffries inquiry."

Jeffries, 30, has career averages of 5.1 points and 4.2 rebounds.

As I have been told

NO BILLY!

He’s pretty damn bad… unless a Vet minimum. We’re gonna see plenty of these rumors—and it is Berman reporting it.

But there’s plenty of time still. Glad to see we are putting the work in.

dont like it

but if hes gonna play for the league min, then whatever, also the nets have just been getting their name out there and planting seeds, cant expect the nets to sign every player they have expressed interest in.

That shows they are active and reaching to everyone and that a good sign … And all this media attention to nets are after Nene or chandler may be dust in the air to cover what happens in the background with D12 don’t be surprised when we hear nets have a trade with magic lol just remember Bk said wont alow another circus …

Nets are going to make offers to...

any of the players the Knicks are hoping to sign for 1 year deals. Nets want to force Knicks to commit money to 2+ year deals even if it’s for minimum salary which would hurt their chances in the 2012 FA class and flexibility.

by BKNfastbreak on Dec 4, 2011 1:09 PM EST reply actions

And if they don't

we’ll be stuck with a team of Outlaws and it’s bye-bye DWill in 2012.

by calling all toasters on Dec 4, 2011 1:11 PM EST up reply actions

they don't need to

even if NY dumped EVERYONE but Melo and Amare they could only offer a contract starting at around 13M. A max contract for Paul and Williams would start at 17.4 and for Dwight the figure would be 19.

They keep selling this 2012 nonsense but facts show they will not be able to get a max guy next summer.

by Andres B on Dec 4, 2011 1:14 PM EST up reply actions

yes, I understand...

this is just my theory for Nets expressing interest in S. Williams and J. Jeffries plus comments made last season by the Nets FO after Melo fiasco concerning Knicks.

by MrDollarBills on Dec 4, 2011 1:26 PM EST up reply actions

lets just see if Romos december collapse continues

Arizona is no stroll in the park either…if Wells can run the ball well and control the clock they have a chance of beating the cowboys.

As for the giants, i am just glad AB and Boley are back. Although it seems more likely Howard will be a Net on the 9th then the giants winning today.

by ItsAllNets on Dec 4, 2011 1:28 PM EST up reply actions

The giants are just too inconsistent

I wouldnt be surprised if they beat the Packers today because they have a great team when everyone shows up. But if they were to win today that means they will lose the next 2 or 3. Thats just how it goes with them lol

As negotiations with Mavericks have stalled, Golden State, Houston and New Jersey have emerged as three most serious suitors for Chandler

Rockets and Nets remain in hunt for Denver free agent Nene and are likewise expected to soon make face-to-face pitches to Brazilian as well

Rockets vs. Nets for Nene. Who will win? Stay tuned.

Maybe Chandler will be more expensive?

Golden State also linked w/Nene. But Warriors awash w/scorers so Chandler appears to be best fit for Dubs (who also like RFA DeAndre Jordan)

Dear NI

I tried asking this on the last thread, do you know, or can you tell us if the NETS with have a representative in Brazil tomorrow to meet with Nene?

by NJNETS13 on Dec 4, 2011 1:41 PM EST reply actions

You think Chandler will be cheaper han Nene? I would give him 4 years 56 million.

by valdu08 on Dec 4, 2011 1:42 PM EST reply actions

I DO think...

Chandler’s perceived value is at an all time HIGH, while Nene’s perceived value is lower because of the situation he was in last few years. Denver’s big man rotation was never consistent, they had several high volume shooters, and maybe not the best team atmosphere.

From the sound of it…they both think they can get $17 mil +

#nets feel confident they’ll be able to sign one of nene or chandler to form hybrid c/pf tandem with lopez

by ItsAllNets on Dec 4, 2011 1:43 PM EST reply actions

First it was Howard ,
Then it was Nene ,
Then Chandler ,
Crowford,
Now Boki and Jefferies ?
Might as well reach out to Jerome James.

Last I checked, GS doesnt have much cap

Unless they amnesty biiedrins which they said they didn’t want to do. Paying him $27m to go away, only to spend $15m or whatver for another player is steep.

the way he drove up Melo's pricetage for the knicks

he’s trying to get them to commit to as much payroll as possible for the 12 man roster

Or

They realise that if they can sign Nene and a starting SF …… they probably need a cheap backup 4 or a cheap SG that can defend.

How do they get one or the other or both ? Under-the-cap exception and Farmar trade.

Petro is a keeper though. Stay OFF the horn for Petro Billy ! Laugh and hang up.

13th guy on a 12 man squad!

I just hate this guy’s game, well, he really doesn’t have a game at all. One of Isiah’s biggest mistakes. Don’t want him for any more than the VETS minimum. Maybe he is a good practice player?

I feel like

Nets doesn’t want to get Jared Jeffries.
Knicks want to send Jared Jeffries to nets.
Well, most rumors frequently said any great players (especially point guard and center) wanted to go to Knicks.

1 - D. Williams / J. Farmar / S. Gaines
2 - A. Morrow / S. Graham / M. Brooks
3 - T. Outlaw / D.James
4 - K. Humpries / B. Wright / J. Williams
5 - B. Lopez / J. Petro
