Deadlines and Commitments - XLV
The pace is quickening now. Players will start arriving in significant numbers Monday. Deron Williams will be talking Nets in the WFAN Studio. The full schedule will be announced Tuesday night. The new CBA is expected to be ratified Thursday. Expect a rush of rumors around Wednesday and Thursday and the opening of training camp (and first free agent signings) on Friday. And since this is Billy King we're talking about, expect a trade or two.
Then on December 17, the Nets will actually play BASKETBALL at the Prudential Center. Woo-hoo!
December 5 - GM's can contact free agents directly and invite them in for physicals; coaches can contact their own players, but cannot supervise workouts at team practice facilities. Deron Williams will be in studio at noon with Evan Roberts and Joe Benigno to talk Nets.
December 6 - 7 p.m., Full NBA schedule announced on NBA TV.
December 7 - Training camp invitees will be announced?
December 8 - National Basketball Players Association and owners are expected to ratify the new CBA, which will officially end the lockout.
December 9 - Free agency and training camp open on the same day. Expect rumors to fly for several days beforehand. Most crucial days of Billy King's career ... at least since the trade deadline.
December 17 - 2 p.m., Nets vs. Knicks in first preseason game at the Prudential Center, first basketball game for Nets fans since April.
December 19 - Last day of Fall Semester for undergraduate courses at Providence College. MarShon Brooks is supposed to complete his degree requirements. He'll work something out with his professors.
December 21 - 7:30 p.m., Nets vs. Knicks preseason at Madison Square Garden.
December 24 - Nets reportedly have to decide whether to extend Stephen Graham's $1.1 million contract. It's entirely possible he is included as filler in a trade before that.
December 25 - NBA season opens with Christmas Day triple-header.
December 26 - Rumored date of Nets first game, against the Wizards in Washington?
December 27 - Rumored date of Nets first home game, against the Hawks.
February - Brooklyn Nets will reportedly unveil their new colors and logo, but NOT their new uniform.
February 26 - NBA All-Star Game in Orlando
March 7 - March 8 - NBA Games of London, Nets vs. Magic, if not canceled in revised schedule.
April 26 - Regular Season Ends, last regular season game in New Jersey. Playoffs anyone?
