China update: Josh Boone does well (twice again)
Two games (Dec. 28 & 30) were played since the last China update and Josh Boone put up some impressive numbers. Can any team in the NBA use a big at vet's minimum who will provide defense and rebounding?
The Josh Boone-J.R. Smith team lost, 117-95. There are no other quality players on the team besides these two, and J.R. had only 24 points, 1-5 on threes. Boone had the monster game of the night: 36 points (17-26 fg, the usually awful 2-9 ft). 19 rebounds, 1 block.
DECEMBER 30:
OTHERS IN CHINA:
The other team that interests me is the Wilson Chandler-Peter John Ramos team. In the a 118-112 victory on December 28th over Stephon Marbury's team, Chandler had 44 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists, two steals, and one block. Peter John Ramos (the 7'4" fellow) had 26 points and 14 points, but no blocks.
On December 30, the team won a 115-85 blowout. Wilson Chandler had 22 points and 9 rebounds in 24 minutes. Peter John Ramos played 35 minutes, with 20 points (none from the line), 10 rebounds and just one block. I just don't know how he'll do in the NBA if he's not getting to the foul line and not getting blocks in China.
SUMMARY:
J.R. Smith (unrestricted) and WIlson Chandler (restricted) are playing as we expected them to play. A scoring small forward like Chandler could really help the Nets.
Josh Boone continues to prove that he belongs back in the NBA, at least as a backup big.

Replace Petro with Boonie
that’s probably worth 1 or 2 extra wins over the year, and Boonie would come cheaper.
Plus, we all hate Petro.

Third for "Player of the Week"

Third place about best performers goes to forward Josh Boone (208-F/C-84) of Zhejiang C. (#4). Boone showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Zhejiang C., leading his team to a 97-92 win against #2 ranked Guandong ST in a game of the week. Zhejiang C. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 10 victories and 6 lost games. Boone has a great season in China. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 12.6rpg (8th best). He also has 1.8bpg and FGP: 61.9%.

RIght now, I would take Boone at the vet's min, can't hurt if he doe half of what he's doing in China.
I wouldn’t minf Chandler either at SF, if he doesn’t cost too much. Stilla RFA with Denver, but not sure they would bring him back. Either way, gotta wait till March.
He makes a lot more in China
