Damion James Game
So from what I observed over the pre season and how Damion James has improved over the summer, I think it's safe to compare his game to that of Gerald Wallace. Same tough and physical defense, athletic, hustles hard, grabs boards, and not the best shooter but he can work on the touch. I remember many people were comparing him to Artest but I see him more as a Gerald Wallace player. basically, I'm loving what I saw from him and he was actually tweeting back to his fans including me which I thought was really cool. Humble guy, who isn't too hollywood for his fans.
What do you guys see his game developing towards?

Well, he's not that good yet
but Crash is a decent comparison, although The Omen isn’t as reckless or aggressive as him or Artest. Maybe Shawn Marion. I notice Melo just gave up trying to go around him— James has very quick feet.
His offense definitely relies on that first step, even though I think he could post up some SFs in this league if he gave it a shot.

He's just not a starter yet on a playoff team.
I like DJames, I really do, but he is just not ready to be a 30 minute a game player. Maybe he can split time for Shawne, until one of them really finds themselves, or we get a better player. I want to start something….Join me in being a member of the ABG club. Anyone But Graham!————- ABG!

Not a bad comparison actually
They have similar mentalities. Wallace is much more athletic though (he also looks longer wingspan-wise but I could be wrong). It allows him to play better defense and grab more boards. I think right now, DJames is better offensively when there’s a 4 on him. He can’t really drive by 3s right now. I’m happy with his play though. He’s playing hard, running the floor, grabbing boards, getting to the rim a lot. He’s a good fit next to Lopez and Morrow. Also nice that he could play the 4 in spurts.
I am a fan of Damion James game. The problem with many of the posters on this website (and I am sure its not just a Nets fan issue – but is all fans) is that fans want to see an All-Star caliber player at every position. Unfortunately this is not fantasy basketball, and the salary cap and 1 basketball keep that from ever being possible.
Damion James is a good (not great) hustle player who can provide physical defense, rebounding, offense in transition and hustle plays. He also doesn’t command or need the ball to be effective. That is not something to take lightly – as on a team built around a big man and DWill. You couldn’t put a guy like Carmelo Anthony on this Nets team as a replacement to Damion James because Melo needs the ball to be effective. That essentially duplicates Deron Williams – and I think would make both less effective players.
Fans should consider Damion James a rookie this year – remember he was injured for much of last year and has now missed all off-season workouts due to the lockout. It is going to be a growing process for him. But if he can provide the Nets with 20-25 minutes a game, and average 7 points and 4 rebounds – I think that is a positive.
The Nets have some good pieces already on board (DWill, Brook Lopez, Damion James, Marshon Brooks, Anthony Morrow) – and while that alone is not a playoff roster – it is a start. That is why I continue to hope that Orlando refuses to trade Dwight Howard and the Nets can sign him outright as a FA in July – as they would be able to keep Lopez and their picks – which would be a big step in the right direction for this franchise long term.
Wallace is a good comparison
He’s not as athletic, but similarities are there. Late first round pick that crashes the boards from the wings & plays pretty aggressively/tenaciously. Lacks offensive skill. I could definitely see his upside as Gerald Wallace, just as easily as his downside could be Trenton Hassel.
Gerald wallace is wishful thinking
I think that could be his ceiling but he is more likely to become a Battier type if he can improve his 3pt shooting.
I still see Artest
He is tough great on the boards. If he can learn how to get some post moves he would emulate Artest game alot.
Perfect energy guy off the bench
Not a starter…atleast not yet. Can’t create his own shot or stroke it with confidence yet. Slashing and defense are his strengths, which would make him the perfect sparkplug off the bench. With him and DeShawn in the game, our perimeter D would be excellent.
