Picking up on Fred Kerber's earlier report that the Nets and DeShawn Stevenson's agent were having "serious conversations" about joining New Jersey, various writers are reporting that Stevenson and the Nets have agreed to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. He's expected to sign Thursday.
“It’s a great fit. He chose the Nets for a lot of reasons,” Stevenson’s agent Mark Bartelstein said. “He embodies everything Avery Johnson preaches".
Stevenson won a ring with the Mavericks in June, playing well in the Finals. The shooting guard averaged 5.3 points a game during the regular season and slightly less in 18 playoff starts. He is considered a tough defender, a good three point shooter and may even start for the Nets.
